Wolf Like Me Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

As the episode opens, nutrients travel through the placenta to Mary (Isla Fisher) and Gary’s (Josh Gad) unborn baby. Mary drapes a headset over her budging stomach for the baby to listen to music. Rolling a whiteboard into the room, Gary explains the last weeks of Mary’s pregnancy. He tells her that Dr. Stenning says induction discussions can start about week 39. He stresses the importance of her remaining calm. She complains about feeling stressed with everything. Emma (Ariel Donoghue) announces she and Gary will pick up the chickens after school. Mary tells her that she would like to go but Gary refuses.

Emma suggests telling Sarah (Emma Lung) that Mary is a wolf. Gary refutes the idea. She assures him that Sarah and Ray (Anthony Taufa) will understand. He reminds her of how difficult it was for the two of them to accept Mary being a wolf. She claims to have put the idea across the Mary who assures her that they will know when it is time. Abigail (Audrey Nitschke) greets Emma. Before Emma goes to school, Gary thanks her for looking out for them. He says Lisa would be proud of her. He receives a call from South Australian Police Detective Kate Cross (Raphael Blake) regarding a murder. When he calls Mary to get her to pick up Emma, he never says anything about Cross’ call.

At the police department, Robert Pattinson (Justin Rosniak) believes he has seen Gary before. Kate asks Gary if he has ever visited the Yarramundi camping grounds. Gary pretends to not recall. She reminds him of his calling the RAA to request assistance with a dead battery near there. He admits to staying there overnight. Robert says his wife, Anna, was at a birthing class when he saw Gary with Mary. Pushing photos of two men in front of Gary, Kate asks if he remembers seeing them during his visit. He says the men gave them a boost. She tells him that the men were found dead on January 23, at the camping grounds. Gary asks how they died. She suggests a wild animal attacked them. Upon leaving the police station, Robert reminds Gary that he mentioned a blue Volvo when he called RAA. Gary assures him that he was delirious after walking a long distance to find a signal.

Sarah tells Gary that she insisted on accompanying Emma home after she had a panic attack. She and Ray question his and Mary’s strange behavior when Anton shows up at their baby shower. Gary attributes their behavior to Anton and Mary’s past relationship. Ray claims to have seen Gary and a homeless man stealing a cart of groceries. Sarah accuses him of hiding something from her when Emma and Mary arrive home leading a pig with cancer. Emma tells Sarah and Ray that Mary morphs into a wolf on each full moon but they don’t believe her. Mary confesses to killing her husband, David, when she turned into a werewolf. She explains how she stays in the basement on full moons to protect others. She slides back a bookshelf to reveal the “F**k ROOM”. Ray accuses them of having sex with the pig. Emma tells them how Mary in her wolf form protected them from two dangerous men. Refusing to believe them, Sarah and Ray leave. Gary follows them outside to find their blue Volvo being confiscated by Robert and Kate.

Back inside, Mary scolds Gary for not telling her about his visit to the police department. He admits to telling the police that the men boosted her car. She demands to know why he didn’t tell them that it was his Jeep. He assures her that there is no evidence in the Volvo. She says a loaded pistol is in the glove compartment. He asks what she is doing with a gun. She suggests he could have shot her if she tries to eat their baby. She urges him to go with her to the abandoned mineshaft. He warns they will become even more suspect if the police discover they have disappeared.

Gary emerges from the house with luggage when Sarah arrives demanding Emma go home with her. Irate, she says he will not put Emma’s mental state in jeopardy again. Ray carries Emma toward the car while Sarah pushes Gary back. Mary stands on the step with amniotic fluid running down her legs as the episode ends.
