At the start of the episode, we find out that Vincent Swan (Ed Westwick) and his co-workers have infiltrated the Freemasons. They go through the initiation ceremony. Then, we jump back in time. Vincent takes Ronnie (Lee Ross) out for drinks. Ronnie drives drunk and gets pulled over. He shows the police officer a hand shake and that prevents him from being arrested. Vincent learns that Ronnie is a member of the Freemasons. Before too long, Vincent, Brian (James Buckley) and Martin (Joe Thomas) are members. Vincent uses his membership to sell a conservatory to one of the leaders Bruce (Jasper Jacob).
Brian is not too impressed with the group. He finds them boring. When Brian returns home, he is harassed by Maureen (Harriet Webb) and her girlfriend. They want him to repair a leaky conservatory. Martin shows off his Freemasons outfit while trying to impress Joanne (Rachel Shenton). In the morning, Vincent and Barry (Steve Evets) travel to Bruce’s place to start installing the conservatory. Bruce is a detective. He knows Barry very well. At W-Windows, Joanne tries to convince Brendan (Lloyd Hutchinson) to get Walsh (Nigel Lindsay) into the Freemasons. Walsh refuses to join the secret society.
During a club meeting, Vincent pitches his conservatory to other members. Joanne gets angry and tries to have anger sex with Martin. He tells her that they should just go on a date once. He is getting tired of the mindless sex. Brian tries to take advantage of his Freemasons membership as well. He needs money to move out of his shed and away from Maureen. Vincent attempts to reassure Ronnie that the Freemasons deal will work out. Ronnie gives him a violent dog. Sam (Linzey Cocker) and the kids are afraid of it. The dog causes a stir with the neighbors as well. Bruce shows up at the store. He complains about his conservatory leaking.
Maureen enters with her girlfriend. She wants her leak fixed too. When they refuse to help, she handcuffs herself to the door. Martin and Joanne go on a date. Vincent and Sam enter and join them. During the night, Joanne becomes suspicious that Martin might have slept with Sam. Brian hires strippers to entertain the Freemasons. It backfires. They men are not entertained. The boys lose their membership status with the Freemasons. They learn that Joanne has used their mistakes to steal their business from the Freemasons. Outside, Brian blames Martin. The dog destroys Vincent’s vehicle. Maureen is still protesting at the store.
She falls in love with the dog. She agrees to take it and leave Vincent alone. The only problem is that the dog still hates Brian. Maureen leaves her girlfriend. Vincent learns that Ronnie has dealt with the Joanne problem by hiring her. He wants them to manage the showroom together.
White Gold Review
Each episode of White Gold is unique in its own way. Each is usually pretty funny as well. The show doesn’t bother trying to be politically correct. Forcing Joanne and Vincent to work together is going to turn into a nightmare. Still, it should be fun while it lasts. This episode was funny and entertaining. It scores a 7 out of 10.
