At the start of the episode, Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes) goes shopping. She runs into Spiros (Alexis Georgoulis) and his wife Dimitra (Marina Aslanoglou). The awkwardness of the conversation leads Louisa to inviting the couple on the family’s upcoming picnic. Meanwhile, we see that the family has gotten a new guest. She is already annoying Lugaretzia (Anna Savva). The mailman makes a delivery. We jump over to England. Margo (Daisy Waterstone) travels on a bus. Gerald (Milo Parker) works on his zoo. A young boy tries to give him a bearded dragon. Gerald lets the boy keep it and gives him advice for what to do with the animal.

Margo arrives at her aunt and uncle’s place. Prue (Felicity Montagu) and Geoffrey (Jeff Rawle) are surprised to see her. Nevertheless, they relent and let her stay with them. She tells them that she was to be more normal and confident. Louisa returns home and tells Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) what she has done. He believes it might be good for Louisa and Spiros. After a break, Spiros and his wife arrive at the Durrell house. Dimitra is introduced to the family. Things go awry right from the beginning. Some of the guests want to drive in the car and others want to take the boat. In the end, Dimitra, Spiros, Basil (Miles Jupp) and Louisa take the automobile.

Basil seems interested in Dimitra. Margo speaks to Prue and Geoffrey about life in Corfu. She also writes a letter to her mother. Louisa does her best to make friends with Dimitra. Theo (Yorgos Karamihos) gets sick on the boat. Leslie and Gerald get into an argument. Gerald is pushed overboard. When they arrive, Louisa finds out that Larry has already left. They group gets into an argument with two men fishing with dynamite. While they’re away from the picnic, goats eat their food. This forces the family to continue onward. They find a nearby pub that happens to be run by Captain Creech (James Cosmo).

Creech has the letter Louisa wrote to Larry. He mentions it containing good things about Spiros. Dimitra is intrigued and wants to know more. She continue bickering with her husband. Margo attends Geoffrey’s speech. His job and speech are both boring. Margo takes the floor and keeps the crowd captivated. Creech offers to sell Gerry two animals. He has no idea what they are. Gerald has no choice when Creech says he is going to eat them otherwise. The two dynamite fisherman blow up Leslie’s boat. Things between Spiros, Louisa and Dimitra continue to worsen. Spiros tries to drive everyone home in his car. It overheats.

Dimitra threatens to walk home. She wants Spiros to choose between her or Louisa. He tells Dimitra to go ahead and start walking. She does. Margo gets a job working with a young girl. Gerald and the others arrive home with the lemurs. Louisa is worried that rumors are going to spread about the family being a freak show. Margo writes a letter to her mother. It details everything she has done. Leslie tells Louisa that Spiros and Dimitra are on the verge of splitting. He believes Louisa could use that to her advantage.

 

The Durrells In Corfu Review

I’ve always enjoyed The Durrells. The series is cheerful. Spiros has been a good character. However, I really do not like the idea of him with Louisa. It just doesn’t feel comfortable for me for some reason. Theo is far more likeable. Still, I will be interested in finding out how everything finishes up. The episode was very fun.
