Wentworth Series 6 Episode 4 Recap

marie winter wentworth

As the episode begins, Marie Winter (Susie Porter) is brought into the prison. She speaks with Will (Robbie Magasiva). He gives her his condolences. We see in a flashback that Marie’s son was in a coma. The doctor wanted her to pull the cord. Instead, she bashed him. That is why she is now in prison. Then, Marie speaks with Vera. Liz is brought in to show Marie around the prison. As Marie enters the yard, Kaz and Allie spot her. They’re surprised to see Marie again. Liz (Celia Ireland) takes Marie to the wrong cell block. She transports her to the right one.

Will continues freaking out about killing Joan. Vera (Kate Atkinson) tells him to dismantle the workshop. Will collects three women from the cafeteria to help. Sonia arrives and ridicules the decision. There is nothing she can do to stop it. She speaks with Vera and tries to negotiate a deal. Vera refuses. Allie (Kate Jenkinson) watches as Marie gets gifts from the girls. She remembers Marie picking her up from the street and making her into a prostitute.

Marie gives chocolates to Liz for showing her around. Boomer eats them and gets cut. She finds razor blades in the candy. Marie confronts Allie in the hallway. Kaz interrupts. Kaz tells Allie to stay away from her. The girls play a prank on Will. Later, Marie sits with Ruby. She offers her money for protection. Ruby quickly agrees. Kaz takes her concerns to Will. She tells him to be cautious of Marie. Then, she speaks with Marie and warns her.

In the yard, Marie continues thinking about her child. She speaks with Ruby and asks her where she can get drugs. She is pointed to Kosta. Marie checks out her drugs and finds out that they’re mixed with baby power. Vera finds a bad news story about the prison. She speaks with Sonia and asks about the murderer. Marie asks Ruby to help her smuggle drugs into the prison. Ruby agrees. Sonia delivers an anonymous tip to Will. That leads to a cell search.

The murder weapon is found in Spike’s cell. Sonia sees Vera about her reward. Vera still isn’t ready to reopen the workshop. She speaks with Will and learns about the anonymous note. The workshop is reopened. Boomer is surprised that she’ll need to take a test and get certified. She doesn’t want to take the test. Ruby goes to work getting the drugs into the prison. However, she cannot swallow the baggy. Rita takes it and protects her.

Rita tells Allie about the problem. Allie confronts Marie. Will loses it and wrecks the workhouse. Jake finds him. He learns about Will burying Joan alive. That night, Marie gets high. Allie has a dream about herself sleeping with Marie. In the morning, Ruby agrees to help Boomer prepare for the test. One of Marie’s former girls tries to attack her. Rita stops her. Rita becomes Marie’s new bodyguard. Allie thanks Marie for dropping Ruby. Kaz watches secretly as Allie and Marie hug.

Wentworth Review

This episode of Wentworth was mediocre. The old Marie Winter was so much more entertaining. Still, it might be salvageable. If Marie transforms into her old self, things might get really good. It is also annoying watching Will creaking out constantly. He needs to get over it already. We can only hope things pick up right away. Otherwise, this season is going to be a bore. The episode was decent, but nothing to brag about. A 6.5 out of 10 is deserved.
