wentworth series 7 kaz

At the start of the episode, Rita (Leah Purcell) is released from isolation. She learns that there is no evidence of her being an undercover cop. A pregnant Vera Bennett (Kate Atkinson) is asked about Marie Winter (Susie Porter) and her sentence. Vera doesn’t have an answer for Allie (Kate Jenkinson). Vera speaks with Marie in private. She has been given 15 years. Vera tells Will to keep a close eye on her. A new inmate who Marie attempted to befriend seems eager to her hands on drugs. Allie meets with Marie. She tells her that she has visitors. Kaz Proctor (Tammy Macintosh) and the others are waiting in her cell block.

They speak about Marie’s sentence. Kaz gives her a stern warning. Marie pretends she isn’t interested in rising up. Marie and Allie embrace and kiss when they’re left alone. Liz (Celia Ireland) and Boomer (Katrina Milosevic) try to convince Vera to tell them who the daddy is. She will not. Kaz speaks with Rita about Marine. Kaz confirms she does not trust her. Ruby (Rarriwuy Hick) is worried about Rita. She tells her she needs to get out of the prison to avoid Marie. Rita receives a whole bunch of letters from Ray (Shane Connor). Will (Robbie Magasiva) and Marie agree to call off their relationship in light of the sentencing.

Rita speaks with Ray when he visits. She encourages him to get on with his life. Marie calls someone and tells them to come visit her. Vera requests to speak with Boomer. Liz tries to make it back to her cell with a hand drawn map. Marie offers to look after her. Vera tells Boomer that a date has been set for her parole hearing. Kaz is surprised to see Marie with Liz. During playtime, Vicky (Artemis Ioannides) throws a basketball and nearly hits Vera. Everything seems fine, but Jake (Bernard Curry) is not happy. The new druggy inmate asks Vicky where to get dope. Jake and Vera argue in her office.

Next, Vera is introduced to Dr. Greg Miller (David de Lautour). The inmates harass him in the yard. Rita confronts Ruby later that night. She is worried that she is training Boomer for a fight. Ruby says she is going to box. That night, Marie asks Allie to commit to her. She agrees to do so. Liz is worried what Dr. Miller will try to do with her. Kaz promises to protect her. Marie visits with her visitor. She learns that they’re no longer going to work with her. Allie tries to convince Marie to leave things be. She doesn’t want her going after Kaz. Rita is forced to meet with Ray again. This time, she tells him about her undercover work.

Dr. Miller does research on the inmates. He is trying to find inmates to participate in the anti-recidivism program. He wants Vera to help. Next, Will tells Vera that he is going to resign. Kaz finds the new dope head inmate with drugs. She destroys them. Marie is in the shower when it happens. She decides to take advantage of that. She offers the woman drugs in exchange for Kaz. Ray returns. He still wants to marry Rita. She agrees. The other inmates celebrate the news. Rita asks Vera to perform the marriage ceremony. Dope head girl goes insane and tries to kill Kaz. Instead, she ends up taking Vera hostage. Thanks to Dr. Miller, nobody is hurt.

Vera thanks Miller. Jake is not happy. Boomer and Kaz promise to help Liz fulfill her bucket list as soon as she gets one made. Vera tells Will she is going to step back as governor. She wants him to take over. The ceremony gets underway. However, Ray is killed outside before it can happen.

Wentworth Review

The writers of Wentworth have really screwed the pup on this one. The last season was horrible and it was mainly due to poor characters. The writers have done nothing to rectify this problem. Rita and Ruby still got the majority of screen time. That cannot be tolerated. Both are terrible characters. I just can’t bring myself to care about either one of them. I also knew what would happen to Ray as soon as he pulled up to the prison.

What were they thinking? I am very disappointed. I am beginning to think that this turd should’ve been flushed a long time ago. The episode scores a 5.5 out of 10. Catch up with past recaps of Wentworth before you go.

  1. I don’t think that’s that fair actually. it was a pretty good return in my opinion. Of course the major thing with Ray was his death was spoiled by of course tv week, but I believe it’ll be a strong case for Rita to see where she goes after his death. More particular just Allie and Marie being on (yuck). To me it was a strong return, and again this was when they thought they weren’t being renewed this was the last, but get two more years of the show, and pretty strong willed characters, I believe it will get way better.

    1. I hope you’re right. I didn’t see TV week. Just figured old Ray was on his way out. Nothing happy happens in Wentworth or Prisoner Cell Block H. lol! Could just feel the setup coming.

I’ll keep watching and recapping. Thanks for the comment. I know lots of people still love Wentworth. Cheers 🙂
