Warrior Season 3 Finale Episode 10 Recap

A Window Of F*cking Opportunity – As the finale of Warrior begins, Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) surprises Eliza Pendleton (Jazzara Jaslyn) by getting into her house in the middle of the night. When Mai Ling came to this country, she promised herself she’d never be bought or sold again. She would rather die than be anyone’s wh*re. With one careless word, Eliza took that from her and turned her into a wh*re. Mai Ling isn’t the first woman her husband has tried to seduce. She believes Eliza has known this about him for a long time.

Mai Ling knows Eliza can’t leave him because all of this stuff belongs to him. She grabs a knife while telling Eliza how she believes she feels when her husband comes home smelling like whiskey and someone else’s vagina. Mai Ling argues that all of her pain and rage will become too much to bear at some point. She gives Eliza the knife for when that night comes. After the intro, Bill O’Hara (Kieran Bew) is forced to deal with the body of Colin Hughes who was working security for a local bigwig named Strickland. Bill knows about the explosion at one of Strickland’s construction sites. He asks if anyone has seen Dylan Leary.

Nellie Davenport (Miranda Raison) shows up at Douglas Strickland’s home. Douglas (Adam Rayner) asks what she is doing there. Nellie has decided to take a page out of his book. Douglas thinks she is a helpless, frightened little girl. As Douglas grabs a sword, Nellie shows her rifle and Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng) shows up nearby. Bill catches up with Dylan Leary (Dean Jagger) who says Strickland will never see the inside of a cell. Inside, the fight begins and Ah Toy quickly gets the best of Douglas. Bill refuses to let Dylan by and reminds him that he wanted him to be Chief. When they notice something going on, they approach the house together.

Ah Toy cuts Douglas Strickland’s throat. Ah Toy moves in and finishes him off. Bill and Dylan enter and find out what is going on before Nellie shoots Bill. Nellie and Ah Toy flee. Bill chases them out, but they end up getting away. Bill and Dylan Leary discuss what they should do with the body. Dylan says they should get rid of it because they’ll have him locked up before dawn otherwise. Dylan doesn’t want to do that and instead offers to vouch for Dylan. Bill eventually relents and says he knows a place to deal with the body. Before they burn Douglas’s body, Dylan takes his ring although it is only worth something to him.

Bill believes there will be an investigation because a man like Douglas disappeared. Dylan suggests the Chief of Police should handle that personally. Nellie checks on Ah Toy who says she doesn’t feel anything. Ah Toy believes she should’ve done more, but Nellie argues that she did everything she could. Nellie comforts her and tells her she won’t be going anywhere. Walter Buckley (Langley Kirkwood) tells Catherine Archer (Dominique Maher) that he finally feels like he isn’t pushing a boulder up a hill. She tells him not to get too comfortable because he could move on to the governorship. Catherine is confident he has everything he needs to be a great man.

Walter asks her to marry him since it has been so long since he felt the urge to share his life with someone else. Catherine agrees to marry him. Richard Lee (Tom Weston-Jones) and Agent Moseley (Nick Cordileone) tell Bill the plates might be at an ice factory in Long Zii territory. Bill says Walter Buckley won’t like that because he keeps them out of that part of town. Moseley doesn’t think they have a choice although Bill still wants to inform Buckley first. The police prepare to raid the property while Isaac gets his men ready. Buckley tells Mai Ling that the Long Zii is no longer in the counterfeiting business because the Secret Service is moving on her operation.

They’re going to deport anyone on the premises, but Buckley will make sure that doesn’t include Mai Ling. Richard Lee asks Stone to take some men to make sure there’s no other way out. He admits they don’t know what type of mess they’re getting into. Moseley doesn’t care about that as long as they get their plates. Walter Buckley tells Mai Ling he could’ve helped her if she had told him about the operation. When Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) enters, Hong (Chen Tang) tells him that Jiang is getting good at printing counterfeits. Hong reveals that Yan Mi (Chelsea Muirhead) didn’t show up to work so there is there to keep an eye on the new guy.

Ah Sahm says he told her not to come in before revealing that the cops know they’re printing. He wants to get the plates out of there. They hear the Secret Service before they can escape with the plates. When Ah Sahm and Hong step out, they see the Secret Service holding guns on the tong as well as Isaac’s men. Ah Sahm shows them the plates so Moseley orders him to bring them over. Before Richard Lee can pick up the plates, the shooting begins. While hiding with Ah Sahm, Hong questions what Happy Jack’s men are doing there. Ah Sahm tells him to go because he doesn’t want to leave without the plates.

He chases down Isaac who tries to flee with the plates. Ah Sahm takes care of Isaac before Richard arrives to ask if they still have a deal. Once Ah Sahm says yes, Richard questions what Happy Jack’s men were doing there. Ah Sahm doesn’t have a clue. He says he held up his end of the deal and he needs Richard to hold up his. Richard agrees before telling him to get out of there so he doesn’t have to arrest him. As Ah Sahm leaves, he is attacked by Stone. Hong deals with him and checks on Ah Sahm who blacks out. Catherine receives pleasure from Stewart Gumm (Sean-Marco Vorster) before showing him the ring Walter got her.

Stewart admits she got him to propose sooner than he expected. They quickly discuss the fact that Walter wants a spring wedding. At the police station, Richard finishes the paperwork so Yan Mi can be released. Once she leaves, Richard tells Moseley that they’ve put a bull’s eye on that girl’s back and the tongs don’t like loose ends. Moseley thanks Richard for volunteering although Richard says he was extorted. He promises to take care of the small clerical matter once he gets back to the office. Yan Mi rushes back to her father to tell him they need to get out of town. He believes she only needs to go. The Hop Wei came around wondering why she didn’t up at work.

Yan Mi made the decision to be a criminal. Her father worked hard to build this place and he’ll die before he leaves it. Yan Mi says she did what she did because she deserves a better life too. Her father tells her goodbye. Dylan Leary thanks Pierce for coming. He tells Pierce that Douglas Strickland’s contract will come into play soon. There are other city contracts up for grabs and Dylan has the mayor’s ear. Under the right conditions, Dylan can make sure Pierce receives those contracts. Dylan wants him to hire Irish labor and he wants to be a partner. At home, Bill gives drinks to Abigail (Gaosi Raditholo) and Lucy (Emily Child). Outside, Bill tells Richard that he is on the mayor’s bad side after losing two men in the raid.

He offers Richard a job at the cement factory. When Richard asks if things will be different now that he is chief, Bill admits he doesn’t know. Bill believes he could do some good with the right men. Richard would have to come back on his own terms. Wang Chao (Hoon Lee) checks his watch before grabbing his bag and leaving. Ah Sahm gets up and realizes he has been out for a couple of hours so he gets ready to rush out. Young Jun (Jason Tobin) tells Ah Sahm that everyone is going to clean up his mess because they should’ve never opened the operation to outsiders. Ah Sahm tries to convince him that Yan Mi didn’t tell the police about their operation only to learn that Young Jun is talking about Mai Ling.

Ah Sahm insists now isn’t the right time to strike the Long Zii, but Young Jun argues otherwise because Mai Ling has never been weaker. He tells Ah Sahm that he doesn’t have to come because no one should have to kill their own family. Young Jun says it is time for Ah Sahm to make a choice between them and his sister. As Ah Sahm prepares to fight, he says it didn’t have to be like this. Once Ah Sahm takes out countless men, Hong stops him from going after Young Jun who says he would’ve done anything for him. Ah Sahm ends up getting stabbed in the side.

Young Jun asks him if he is really ready to die for Mai Ling. Ah Sahm says not yet before the fight continues. It spills out onto the street. Ah Sahm takes Young Jun’s knife and holds it to his throat. Young Jun tells him to do it already, but Ah Sahm only knocks him out instead. Wang Chao tells Yan Mi that she needs to get on the train. She doesn’t want to leave without Ah Sahm though. Wang Chao suggests he is either dead or dead to her if he isn’t there. He gives her money to get started and says she’ll live if she leaves. Ah Sahm wanted her to have the money. Wang promises to tell him if he sees him. Yan Mi gets on the train and leaves.

Mai Ling sees fighting outside her window so she grabs a gun. She shoots one man. A wounded Ah Sahm walks through the streets. Mai shoots another man before she is hit in the leg with a knife. She shoots the man before he can finish her. Wang Chao is stabbed in the back and possibly killed by Zing. A member of the Hop Wei begins drowning Mai Ling. She grabs a knife from her boot. Ah Sahm makes it to her residence and finds her still alive. Li Yong (Joe Taslim) is approached by men who take off their jackets and leave. He walks down the street with them.

Warrior Review

The third season of Warrior was a rollercoaster with some ups and many downs, but the finale was decent enough. Anyone who liked the previous nine episodes will likely enjoy this one and they’ll look forward to the possibility of a fourth season. The finale created multiple new storylines for a possible fourth season with Wang likely dead and Ah Sahm working with his sister.

Li Yong may be a major force since he could be running another tong. This episode really did everything it could with the storylines laid out before it. Getting to this point wasn’t always exciting though and some of those storylines weren’t as interesting as they could’ve been. Personally, I would’ve preferred the series to end here with Ah Sahm running away with Yan Mi and living happily ever after.

I sincerely fear the series will not be renewed and we’ll be left with this cliffhanger ending because these networks always have to try to get every last bit from the tube. If renewed, it is good that the next season will obviously be much different with the characters switching sides so dramatically.

It is a little disappointing for Ah Sahm to turn on Young Jun and annihilate half of the Hop Wei without much effort. This was a decent finale though so viewers will have to wait to see whether Warrior is renewed for a fourth season. The episode scores a 6.5 out of 10.
