At the start of the episode, Big Bill (Kieran Bew) gambles and loses. He learns that his buddy is now working for the Fung Hai. Bill is beaten. He is told he has three weeks to pay off his debt. After the intro, Richard Lee (Tom Weston-Jones) wakes up at home. He imagines a woman is sleeping next to him. Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) join the others for breakfast. Young Jun (Jason Tobin) tells him about Bolo (Rich Ting) and his grim past. At work, Richard watches as Walter Buckley (Langley Kirkwood) visits the chief of police.

Buckley speaks with Chief Flannagan about the judge’s decision. He suggests that they pick up the slack and make things right. Meanwhile, Li Yong (Joe Taslim) beats up some guys. Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) is somewhat impressed. However, she is not happy that Li Yong didn’t kill the men. Ah Sahm gets high with Young Jun. Then, he follows Jacob (Kenneth Fok) to meet with Penelope Blake (Joanna Vanderham). Mai Ling convinces Wang Chao (Hoon Lee) to set up a meeting with Pai (Hon Ping Tang) of the Fung Hai.

He also shows her a new gun holster. It makes her deadlier than ever. Big Bill’s wife scolds Richard for leaving him alone. Richard manages to defuse the situation. Richard tries to find out what really happened. Bill tells him to shut up. Meanwhile, the police begin raiding the opium dens and brothels. Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng) strikes a deal with Big Bill to avoid being taken to jail. The police chief kills a defenseless man. Richard is angry about it. Richard confronts Bill. He is told to mind his own business. Ah Sahm sleeps with Penelope.

He tells her about his sister. In return, he learns that Penelope married Samuel (Christian McKay) to save the family business. Mai Ling sits down with the Fung Hai. She knew Pai wouldn’t cooperate so she has already poisoned him. The new leader Zing (Dustin Nguyen) seems willing to work with her. Chao complains to Li Yong about the lie later. He admits he would had charged more had he known Pai would have been killed at the meeting. The Mayor and police pose for pictures with the Chinese who have been arrested. Buckley uses the opportunity to create a good story for the Associated Press. Richard is forced to partake in the picture against his will.

Later, Mai Ling confronts her brother. She tries to get her brother to return home. He refuses to leave without her. She tells him about the upcoming war. She explains that she will not hesitate to kill him. Richard meets with Bill at the pub. They share a drink together. Bill explains that Chinatown can kill you hundreds of different ways. He leaves and hits the gambling joint again. Things do not look good for Bill.

 

Warrior Review

This episode of Warrior wasn’t great. However, it wasn’t terrible either. The scenes in the beginning were drug out a little too long. I wasn’t too interested in Big Bill and his gambling addiction. However, I did appreciate the fact that the episode moved things closer towards a war. That could make things very interesting in future episodes. The hookup between Ah Sahm and Penelope was pretty predictable. Still, it wasn’t too bad.
