Tin Star Season 3 Episode 4 Recap

At the beginning of the 4th episode, a helicopter flies overhead as a group of officers storms a house nearby. We jump to five hours earlier and see the same hour. Anna Worth (Abigail Lawrie) calls her father Jim (Tim Roth) to tell him she is at Catherine’s house. After the brief intro, we see that Jim is the one pointing a gun at Angela (Genevieve O’Reilly) and not Michael Ryan. Jack learns that someone beat his wife to Joe. As they leave, a man points a gun at them and prepares to shoot at them. Before he can, Michael (Ian Hart) shoots and kills the man. Angela looks up and spots Michael staring in her direction. Then, Jim and Michael blend in with a group of women so they can escape. DI Sara Lunt (Kerrie Hayes) makes it to the race track and is escorted to Joe’s body.

Tin Star Review

This should’ve been a dramatic, impactful episode of Tin Star since there were so many deaths but it really didn’t hit home. There has been a disconnect between viewers and the characters this season and this is making it difficult to sympathize with any of them. There isn’t any cohesion from the prior seasons since the past storylines have been swept under the rug. The characters don’t even feel like the same characters from past seasons.

Sadly, almost everything they were building this episode was eliminated with this episode. It washed away Sara Lunt’s pursuit for the truth, Jesse and Anna’s possible relationship, and so much more. The characters added this season have been killed too quickly so they lack significance. There is just isn’t a lot to like this season so far.

I’d really like to see something explosive happen in the next few episodes so this season can provide a payout for viewers. I am not optimistic but I’ll keep watching to see if I am wrong. This episode was okay but it should’ve been much better. It scores a 6 out of 10. Previous recaps of Tin Star can be found on Reel Mockery.
