The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Finale Recap

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

Love Triangle – Love Triangle opens with Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) calling Steven Conklin (Sean Kaufman) and asking if he plans on visiting him in California. They briefly celebrate before he urges Conrad to talk with Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) without alerting Laurel. Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) and Belly finish kissing as Conrad approaches. Conrad says don’t let me interrupt and storms off. Jeremiah urges her to go after him. Catching up with him, he accuses her of trying to make him jealous.

On their ride home, Steven and Laurel Park (Jackie Chung) discuss his going off to Princeton in two months. He voices concerns about being behind in his summer studies. Laurel points out that it’s only a week into summer before suggesting he spend time with his girlfriend. When he asks how she knows he has a girlfriend, she mentions the constant texting before adding that he loaned his vehicle to Taylor (Rain Spencer). Deflecting, he asks her what happened in New York and why she’s ignored three of Cleveland’s (Alfredo Narciso) calls. She admits to avoiding him since he asked her to attend a literary meeting in Brooklyn.

Reuniting with Jeremiah Belly says that Conrad accused her of trying to make him jealous. She suggests and Jeremiah refuses. At the dorm, Conrad talks with Trusky (Samuel-Taylor) about witnessing the kiss. Trusky claims to have sensed a connection when they visited.

While waiting, Belly assures Jeremiah she didn’t kiss him to make Conrad jealous. A happily transformed Conrad arrives but sulks on the trip home.

Upon arrival at the restaurant, Steven notices Taylor has brought along several friends. Marcy (Sasha An) and Marianne (Aria Celeste Castillo) make the meeting uncomfortable by commenting on the roses and mentioning Milo’s (Will Spencer) recent success. Taylor tells him that after Cousins, Milo came home and wrote an entire diss album about Steven that’s turning out to be wildly successful. When Marcy brings up Belly and volleyball camp, Taylor admits preferring seeing Belly with Jeremiah.

Stuck in traffic on the interstate, Conrad and Jeremiah argue over their route. Belly suggests the next exit. Inside the gas station, Conrad notices Jeremiah buying Swedish Fish and points out that Belly prefers Sour Patch Kids. Jeremiah asks why he cares and accuses him of having feelings for Belly. The clerk informs them about the highway closure and the motel a few miles away. Belly chooses the Sour Patch Kids.

Once alone, Steven and Taylor argue over who Belly should be with. Taylor reminds him that Conrad has already broken Belly’s heart once. He said Conrad was having a hard time with Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) death. She assures him Jeremiah was going through the same before storming off.

At the motel, Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad are forced to take the only single-bed room available. While getting settled, Belly continues to reassure Jeremiah that she no longer loves Conrad. He convinces her to agree to agree to speak with him in the morning.

While Belly takes a shower, Jeremiah and Conrad discuss their feelings. Conrad admits to still having feelings for her. Jeremiah urges him to discuss it with her and vows to stay out of the way if she chooses him.

At the writer’s meeting, Laurel calls Belly to confirm she received the text. Belly asks what it felt like when she fell out of love with John Conklin (Colin Ferguson). Laurel suggests you have to ask yourself if you are remembering what you had together or looking forward to what you might have together. Laurel reminds her that she is still young and has plenty of time to find the right person. In the bar, she meets Sandra (Allie McCulloch) and is later encouraged to read a passage from her memoir.

During the night, Conrad wakes her and admits he still loves her, which sparks a flashback to the day she promised a dying Susannah that she would look after Conrad.

Upon waking, Belly discovers Jeremiah missing. When she walks outside, she discovers that he went for breakfast. She says he was right about Conrad having feelings for her. They kiss. Back inside, Conrad claims he was only trying to come between her and Jeremiah. He returns the infinity necklace and promises that they can be friends.

Taylor is packing for volleyball camp when Steven interrupts with Belly’s gear. She dismisses him and goes back to packing when he asks if she is going to apologize for skipping out on last night’s date. She eventually apologizes and tries to explain how she is embarrassed by how much she cares for him. She says she always felt in power in all her previous relationships but with him, it is completely different. She adds that his going off to college doesn’t help. He assures her he won’t break her heart and they make out.

At volleyball camp, Jeremiah turns down Steven’s offers to go play video games. In the gymnasium, everyone is happy to see Belly but Coach Shaw (Heather Magee). Belly pleads with her to get back on the team, promising to start at the very bottom and work her way up. The coach agrees.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Review

Not an awful finale. It certainly set the stage for a new season. It will be exciting to see the characters deal with the challenges of being away at college, especially Taylor and Steven. It’ll also be intriguing to see what Conrad does with his time. It’s obvious that he still cares for Belly and it seems that she cares for him as well, despite what she claims. Since this was one of the better episodes, I would give it a 6 out of 10.
