The Pact Season 2 Episode 2 Recap

As the second episode of The Pact’s second season begins, Christine (Rakie Ayola) wakes up after a nightmare. She tells Beth (Lisa Palfrey) about her nightmares at work. Christine confesses that the scariest thing is that she is on her own. Connor (Jordan Wilks) tends to the wounds on his face. Will (Lloyd Everitt) showers and looks at the bruises on his knuckles. He turns the water all the way up and lets it burn him. Samantha finds him struggling to put his shirt on so she checks to see if he is okay. Will insists he is fine although he is late for work. When she notices the bruises on his knuckles, he claims he was just sparring at the gym. The police arrive at the door and explain that Mr. Moran alleges Will assaulted him. After they ask about his hands, Will says Connor jumped him and he defended himself. The police learn that Connor showed up out of the blue and started stalking them because he thinks they’re long-lost brothers.

Will is asked about being with another man and whether there was a conversation before the attack. He tells them that Connor is the problem and not him. Megan (Mali Ann Rees) believes Jamie (Aaron Anthony) would feel the same if he just talked to Connor. Beth enters and tells them that Joe is on a diet and that is why he hasn’t visited recently. She wants to know if there is anything she should know about. They try to change the subject, but Beth thinks they should talk about Christine. Meanwhile, Christine calls Will to warn him that the development might be pulled if the police charge him. He is worried about being all over the CCTV so Christine says she can handle that although she isn’t sure how yet. Will complains that he invested so much into this and Sam’s family did too. Jamie and Megan talk to Beth about Connor. Jamie reveals that he has assault, burglary, and breaking a restraining order on his police record.

Megan doesn’t think he seems dangerous. She finds it odd that their dad never got in touch. He never showed up to Liam’s funeral or Will’s wedding. Megan doesn’t understand how you could cut a family loose like that. She suggests he left without a choice and Christine might’ve kicked him out or something. The only thing that makes sense is that their mom lost it when he was having an affair. Beth confirms no one has seen Harry since he walked out. As a GP, he was well-liked and respected even though he was a bit sad. Beth insists she can’t help locate him without Christine’s approval, but she thinks Connor likely got it wrong anyway. The guy from the fish and chips shop enters to give Jamie his card back since he left it in the shop. Owain (Callum Hymers) agrees to let him buy him a drink this weekend. Christine tries to convince DS Pritchard (Matthew Gravelle) not to investigate Will by saying Connor is the problem.

He’ll need evidence that demonstrates a pattern of intent like a diary she kept. She pleads with him to make the charges go away because it could get worse for him if he doesn’t play ball. Jamie meets with Connor and learns about Will beating him up. Connor admits he got it wrong before. He thinks he is right this time because of the way they look at him. He can’t change what Christine did, but he can start over. He just wants to get to know his family. At work, Beth confronts Christine about Connor. Christine wants this whole thing to go away. She believes Connor could be dangerous. Beth explains that the kids have been asking about Harry, but Christine says he has nothing to do with this. Beth doesn’t believe Connor one bit, but she thinks it is best to prove this before the kids get too attached. She knows how fragile Jamie is and Connor could be preying on them so Christine needs to think about it. Jamie tells Connor that Liam got into drugs as an escape from school and home.

Will always had to be the big man as the rugby champ and number one son. Jamie and Liam were different. Will thought they were weak so he bullied them. Their mom was working most of the time so she couldn’t do anything about it. As for their grandparents, they died before they were born. Liam smoked weed and fell in with the wrong people before moving on to the harder stuff. Jamie was studying most of the time so he didn’t see it. Connor tells him that he can’t put that on himself. As they sit down and continue talking, Christine walks by and sees them sitting together. She asks them to come with her. Gethin (Jacob Ifan) talks to Megan about homes in the area, but she isn’t interested in taking out another loan. He wonders if she even wants to live with him because it doesn’t feel like it sometimes. Megan has to run after getting a message on her phone. She goes home where she finds her mother sitting at the table with Connor and Jamie.

Megan checks them before Jamie seals the package. When Christine says she’ll call a courier, Megan asks if that is all she has to say. She believes this will prove that everything is a coincidence. The kids leave so Christine can have a moment alone with Connor. Christine claims she doesn’t hate him, but she is sorting this out so they can get closure. She wants Connor to drop his complaint against Will. He says he’ll drop it as soon as she tells him the truth. Christine is adamant that he isn’t a part of this family. Connor says he won’t go anywhere until they find out. Later, Connor tells Megan that he doesn’t trust Christine before revealing how she tried to pay him to stay away from them. He feels like Christine doesn’t want him to exist when she looks at him.

He thinks she controls the shots so it won’t matter what anyone else thinks. Megan invites him to the pre-wedding party tonight. Christine won’t be there because she has a meeting. Samantha encourages Will to get changed. She tells him that his teacher wants to talk to them about changing his attitude because he has been playing up and getting boisterous. He pushed another boy around today so he could be picking up on what is going on with Will. Samantha wants Will to see a psychologist, but he doesn’t want to hear that again. They argue about that before Samantha admits she knows he is lying about assaulting that guy. Samantha doesn’t want it to impact their business and won’t allow violence around their son. She is going to book him with a psychologist and warns him they’ll have problems if he doesn’t go. Joe (Christian Patterson) gets ready so he can go to the party with Beth.

Will and the others begin arriving at the party while Jamie talks to Owain. Beth and Joe are shocked when they see Connor walk through the door, but Megan says it is her party and she gets to decide.

Will wants to approach him only to be stopped by Samantha. Connor admits to Beth that he put his foster dad in the hospital when he was 15. It was the first time he fought back and ended up getting sent to juvie. After he got out, he tried to get his foster brother out of the house but got arrested for breaking in. While he was in custody, his foster dad kill him. Connor says he had good reasons to do what he did. Christine finds Kayla (Kristy Philipps) being assaulted by a drug dealer so she pays him to leave. She tries to find out how much Kayla has taken. When Kayla begins struggling, Christine calls for assistance. When Connor is asked about the other families, he says he just got it wrong. He thinks this is different though. Jamie tells Owain that he isn’t good at this because he has a social anxiety thing that started when Liam died. When he gets anxious, it is like the whole world is closing in on him. He is happy Owain is there. Megan again attempts to coax Beth into finding their father.

Christine checks Connor’s file including his birth certificate. Later, Gethin wants to talk to Megan about the house more but isn’t sure she really wants all this. She accuses him of ruining her night. Geth complains about having a crappy night because he has been worried about them. She says he has no idea what it is like to be a part of her family because he has a mom and dad that actually love each other and have zero tragedy. He insists it’ll be different since he will never leave her. Christine hides the flash drive under her desk. Connor checks on Megan who says her mom thinks she is rushing into marriage. He thinks she should ignore her mom since she loves Geth and wants to marry him. Jamie walks Owain to the taxi. They agree to do it again and kiss. Beth can’t find her keys once she gets home. The Pact Review

This episode of The Pact did a good job of spinning the web and deepening the mystery. At this point, it is hard to know what is really happening and what happened in the past even though viewers will have some ideas. The performances are solid enough to add realism to the show so everything mostly feels authentic. There were certain scenes that seemed unrealistic with a few of the characters doing silly things.

Nevertheless, viewers will likely enjoy the deep, emotional mystery of The Pact’s second season if they’re willing to overlook these blemishes and others. The biggest concern is the fact that there are still four episodes left and that means the story is likely going to get tedious at some point.

Regardless, there are plenty of questions that will leave viewers yearning for answers. It seems everyone is hiding something except maybe Jamie, Megan, and Beth. Christine, Kate, Pritchard, and Connor are obviously not innocent based on their actions. It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out as long as the story doesn’t drag too much in the later episodes. This one scores a 6.5 out of 10.
