The Flatshare Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

They F*ck You Up – As the fourth episode of The Flatshare begins, Justin (Bart Edwards) makes Tiffany (Jessica Brown Findlay) a coffee when she gets up in the morning. He says last night was amazing, but he needs to think about it and she needs to find a new flatmate. Meanwhile, Leon’s mother tells him that he hasn’t been looking after himself. Leon (Anthony Welsh) tells her that he broke up with Kay even though he doesn’t want to talk about it. She never believed Richie was innocent and thought Leon was just wasting his time. His mom read the article and knows that his flatmate thought otherwise. Leon admits he told her to move out. Meanwhile, Tiffany doesn’t have any luck trying to find a new flat. She leaves a message saying she’ll be gone by the end of the week and he can keep the coffee machine. Frank joins Leon and his mother.

Tiffany is surprised when her parents show up and begin complaining about the dreadful flat. Her father thinks she moved in with a criminal while also calling the article very disturbing. Justin told them that she was moving out so they came to take her home, but Tiffany doesn’t want to return to Surrey. Tiffany reveals she is moving in with Maia (Shaniqua Okwok) and Mo (Jonah Hauer-King). Leon soon learns that Finn and Archie believe Richie is living in Spain. Later, he argues his mother wouldn’t lie about it if she believed in Richie. He suggests she didn’t pay his bail because she didn’t want Richie ruining her nice little life, but she denies that. Leon decides to leave. Tiffany’s parents drop her off. She pushes the buzzer and impatiently waits for someone to open the door.

Once they finally let her in, Tiffany tells them what she told her parents. She thinks something is going on with them. Mo wants to tell her, but Maia quickly stops him. Leon goes to the barbershop for a haircut. Tiffany realizes that Mo and Maia are sleeping together even though Maia says it is none of her business. Maia complains that it is always about her. She asks Tiffany if she knows what it is like to watch her best friend repeatedly harm themselves. She thinks Tiffany will be back with Justin next week and they’ll start the whole cycle again. Tiffany gets mad and leaves. Mo asks Maia why their relationship is a secret. She explains that she doesn’t have room for a relationship. Mo is asking to be acknowledged and not for a relationship. Leon tells his barber about splitting with his girlfriend. He agrees to come out with them since it is time to live a little. Tiffany calls Justin to leave a message asking to talk about last night.

He gets back to her later and admits he told her parents about her being homeless because he is worried about her. She tries to call him but he doesn’t answer. Al finds out that Leon spent the night at the hospital. Once Leon tells him what happened, Al agrees to let him crash at his place next time. At work, Phil (Dustin Demri-Burns) tells Tiffany that she and Bother have been nominated for Breakthrough Digital Talent of the Year thanks to the article. Rachel (Gina Bramhill) thinks it is great news, but Tiffany is more concerned about being kicked out of her flat. Once she gets home, she finds a note from Leon saying she owes him money for gas, electricity, and council tax. While she looks for flats, Kay (Klariza Clayton) visits Leon to return his keys. They agree they’ll miss each other. Leon takes the box and goes inside. Tiffany looks at a flat that she instantly hates. Richie (Shaq Grant) calls her that night to say he is okay with the article.

He thinks Leon should be thankful since the article made him sound so good. Richie argues it is BS that Leon wants her to move out by the end of the week. He pleads with Tiffany to see him because he hasn’t booked a visit and won’t phone him. Richie wants her to tell him to stop wallowing and be a man, but the Post-It notes aren’t going to cut it. Leon checks on Holly who is searching for Johnny White. When she showed Mr. Prior the shortlist, he started freaking out and saying he didn’t want to find him. Leon doesn’t think it was a good idea to take his letter. He urges her to give it back. Leon is surprised when Tiffany shows up at the hospital looking for him. Holly tells Janice that she is there to see her. Holly tells Tiffany that she is looking for Prior’s long-lost love and you weren’t allowed to be gay 50 years ago. Tiffany asks if she has tried the electoral roll which is a very long list.

Tiffany offers to let her use her login details if she can find Leon for her. When Leon runs from Tiffany, she decides she should probably go. She gives Holly her login details first. Holly gives Leon a note about what Richie said and an apology from Tiffany. Leon finally goes to prison to see his brother. Richie tells him that Tiffany didn’t write the headline and let him see her version before it came out. Leon says it is highly inappropriate that she came to the hospice to see him. Richie suspects he likes her. Leon can’t stay long because he is going out with Asher and the boys. Leon confesses he doesn’t think he can get him out. Richie admits he has known for a while, but he is a big boy and will be okay. When Tiffany calls Justin, they agree to go to dinner tonight. Meanwhile, Leon heads out with Asher. When she meets with him, Tiffany asks Justin why he was ignoring her calls.

Asher remembers that Leon is bad at asking girls out since he has never done it yet. Justin says he needed to think before revealing he ended his relationship with Ariella. He knows he made a mistake so he is trying to say sorry to get her to take him back. Leon dances with a girl while Justin asks if he can call Tiffany his girlfriend again. Tiffany says she doesn’t know because she is going to need time. Justin offers to do couple’s therapy while Leon agrees to get out of the club with the women. Justin tells Tiffany that she can be a real b!tch sometimes before apologizing and saying he is still hurting. Tiffany decides to leave. Leon takes the woman back to his flat and agrees to show her the bedroom. She admits she wants sex and nothing else, but Leon doesn’t want to have sex with her. She gets mad and leaves. Once she makes it back to the flat, she argues with Leon about when she was supposed to be out.

They end up agreeing to sleep in the bed together. Tiffany apologizes to him again. Leon knows she tried to tell him and tried to do a good thing so he might’ve been quick to judge. They almost kiss until Leon notices Justin’s boxers hanging nearby. She says it was Valentine’s Day. Leon supposes the bed share was never going to work. He agrees to let her stay a little longer until she can find somewhere else. Maia and Mo go over Tiffany’s article. Maia checks the security video from the robbery and finds that the man responsible wasn’t wearing white trainers.

The Flatshare Review

The fourth episode of The Flatshare slowly pushed the story forward while starting to build the romance between Leon and Tiffany. Kay has seemingly decided to move on while Tiffany doesn’t seem eager to give Justin another chance. Maia and Mo read Tiffany’s article and made a breakthrough when they found that the suspect wasn’t wearing white trainers.

That was probably a bad idea considering someone else would’ve spotted that a long time ago. Then again, there was never a need to even have the Richie storyline. Still, this is just too convenient for Maia and Mo to spot something no one else did after all this time and after an appeal. The series likely could’ve been cut down to three or four episodes without missing out on any important details.

In particular, this was probably a weaker episode that seemed to drag at times and ran in circles at other points, but I am interested in finding out what’ll happen with Holly and Mr. Prior. The episode scores a 5.5 out of 10. Recaps of The Flatshare can be found on Reel Mockery here. Have you found our site beneficial?
