The hurricane is in full force when the episode opens. Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) finds Molly standing by Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) unconscious, on the ground. He lifts her into his arms and heads back to the outpost

Harry “Sully” Sullivan (Scott Patterson) recalls seeing Lola Gunderson (Amalia Williamson) lying on the ground after he hit her. He notified the police and when they arrived, his being intoxicated went unnoticed. The accident was declared a hit-and-run. He tells Frank Cranebear (Tom Jackson) that he tried to make it up to her. Frank says he would have stood by Sully if he had known.

Cal notifies Rafe Vadas (Dakota Taylor) that Maggie is safe. Maggie tells him that Pete (Joel Thomas Hynes), who has PTSD, is still missing. Rafe continues his search for Pete. Elsewhere, Sydney Shandon (Lindura) tries to comfort Finn Shandon (Zayn Maloney) who is afraid of the storm. When Rob Shandon (Reid Price) returns from replacing the propane tank, Finn asks if he knows Sydney is afraid of storms like him. Rob recalls a young Sydney hiding in the closet during a storm. He stayed to comfort her with songs and stories. Finn asks why she came to be with Rob when Sarah died.

Maggie tells Cal about Pete’s PTSD episode. He says his brother has PTSD but he doesn’t like to talk about the war. She wishes Pete wasn’t alone before joining him on a blanket in front of the fire. While he treats a laceration on her leg, Maggie claims to be unfamiliar with having someone look after her. Cal suggests it is time for that to change. Rafe alerts them that he found Pete. At the outpost, he tells Sydney and Edna Cranebear (Andrea Menard) that Maggie has a concussion but she is alert. Edna complains about Maggie going out during the storm. Pete says she was helping him look for Molly. Connie Boyle (Lauren Hammersley) alerts Rafe of Frank’s truck being seen several hours away. Concerned about Rafe’s safety, Sydney gives a kiss for luck before he goes out into the storm.

John (Sebastien Labelle) tries to convince Ellis (Bri Neal) to go lie down. She suggests it is Braxton Hick’s contractions triggered by stress. He expresses his love for her. Elsewhere, Cal keeps Maggie awake with a game of chess. At the outpost, Pete tells Rob that he served in Afghanistan. Finn invites him to play a Rock Paper Scissors. Pete recalls playing it with his daughter. Finn asks why his daughter doesn’t live with him. Pete claims his attempt at reconnecting with his daughter and her mother was not so great.

Maggie tells Cal that Walter thought chess would teach her to remain calm under pressure. She prefers to control her life than take chances. He says life is all about taking chances. At the outpost, Rob recalls when Sydney came to Nova Scotia to take care of him and Finn after Sarah died. She says it took her mind off things. After he hired Clover, she claims to have left because Finn called her mom. She suggests it is her keeping him and Finn from connection. Rob attributes it to Finn looking like Sarah.

Sully questions how Lola will react when she learns the only person she trusts caused her accident. A volunteer (Kyle Gillis) arrives to boost the battery in Frank’s truck. Frank urges Sully to face his problems. Elsewhere, Cal boasts of keeping Maggie awake all night after her accident. He says his drive to help people find justice is why he became an attorney. She asks if he is bothered by his not having a plan. He assures her that a plan is no longer necessary as long as you see your next move. They kiss and the power comes back on. Rafe alerts them of Frank and Sully being located.

Ellis’ water breaks. Elsewhere, Pete reunites with Molly. He shows Cal a photo of his daughter, Brooke. Cal urges him to seek treatment, so he can have a relationship with Brooke. Pete says some stories don’t have a happy ending. Cal tells him to take care of himself before leaving.

Sydney is relieved to see Maggie. Rob refuses Sydney’s offer to take care of Finn because he wants to spend time with him. Maggie claims nothing happened between her and Call. A short time later, Cal informs Maggie of Pete’s decision to leave when an exited Lola arrives with Ellis. Everyone chips in to prepare for the birth. Edna contacts Connie to request an ambulance. After washing her hands, Maggie checks Ellis’ cervix to find it fully dilated. Ellis pushes several times before the baby’s head appears. Maggie says stop pushing because the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby’s neck. She enlists Cal’s help. With the umbilical cord out of the baby, Ellis gives several more pushes and her son is born. Maggie watches Cal clean the baby and hand him to Ellis. A paramedic rushes in to care for the baby and mama.

Frank and Sully arrive back at the outpost. Edna scolds him and he immediately apologizes. Sully regrets leaving the hospital. Maggie informs him that he does not have Alzheimer’s. Elsewhere, Rafe arrives home exhausted. Sydney admits to being impressed by his willingness to go into the storm to look for Maggie. He says it is just part of the job. She describes his actions as sexy and unbuttons his shirt. They kiss.

While receiving treatment for a vitamin deficiency, Sully asks Maggie if she is positive he does not have Alzheimer’s. She says yes and begins to explain his condition is brought on by alcohol abuse. She admits to not considering how it must have impacted him when she and her mother left. He assures her that he never stopped caring. She suggests they start over.

During a phone call, Maggie tells Andrew Matthews (Allan Hawco) that she will not be returning home right away. He asks if she is still interested in the job. She no longer knows what she wants. Sydney tells Maggie about sleeping with Rafe. She questions if it was a bad decision because she already requested to sign back up with her old agency in New York. Maggie urges her to tell Rafe. Sydney reminds her that she still has not told Andrew about the baby. Maggie believes there is no future for her and Cal because she is pregnant with Andrew’s baby. Sydney says Cal may be willing to accept it. Later, Maggie invites Cal to dinner.

As Sully builds up the courage to tell Lola that he caused her accident, she breaks down weeping because she thought he was gone forever. She questions what she would do if she lost him.

Cal awkwardly cracks open a lobster when the juices spray on his mouth. Utilizing a napkin, Maggie wipes the juices away. He invites her to dance. Realizing they will be the only couple dancing, she reluctantly accepts. While they dance, she asks if he wants kids. He says no. She says Sully needs his next treatment. Elsewhere, Sully tells Frank that he tried to tell Lola but it wasn’t the right time. He thanks Edna for running the outpost in his absence. She says it is their home as well. As Sully and Maggie are leaving, Frank shows them a newspaper ad announcing the impending auction of Sullivan’s Crossing Campground. Edna and Maggie are surprised by the news. The episode ends.

 

Sullivan’s Crossing Review

Stranded in a cabin during the hurricane, Cal and Maggie share a kiss. Once the storm is over, she invites him to dinner. They are having an intimate dance when he tells her that he doesn’t want children. Disappointed, she politely ends the dance.

Sydney regrets her decision to sleep with Rafe. She has already made preparations to return to her old job in New York.

Rob has been holding back a relationship with Finn because he reminds him of Sarah. Hearing Pete talk about his daughter who lives with her mother gives him the nudge to pursue a relationship with Finn.

Sully tries to tell Lola that he is responsible for her accident. When she expresses her fear of losing him, he decides to wait for a better opportunity.

Maggie and Edna are shocked when they learn Sullivan’s Crossing Campground is set to be auctioned.
