Shoresy Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Accountability – The episode starts two months in the past with Nat (Tasya Teles) presiding over the calendar shoot. As Brant “Goody” Goodleaf (Andrew Antsanen) poses for his solo shots, Ziigwan (Blair Lamora) quickly voices her opinion. This leads to Dolo (Jonathan-Ismael Diaby) and the rest of the attending Bulldogs throwing in their two cents. Shorsey steals (Jared Keeso) the spotlight with his late arrival and overdone spray tan. The insults begin immediately, but end when Nat asks him why he thought the tan was necessary. He has a bit of a hard time admitting it, but he attributes it to her turning the team around. She assures her that because of that, he will have her back.

In the present day, Shoresy stuns Laura Mohr (Camille Sullivan) by turning down her offer to return to her apartment. When she asks why, he explains it as him taking accountability. The next day, Shoresy brags to the Bulldogs about refusing the opportunity to get laid. He’s adamant about claiming it wasn’t Laura when Ted Hitchcock (Terry Ryan) asks. He claims to have a whole line of women wanting to sleep with him. He subtly suggests Dolo and Goody do the same, although he claims to not be asking them to.

Nat congratulates Ziigwan and Miigwan (Keilani Elizabeth Rose) on their fundraising efforts, although she just learned they are still 10 thousand shy of the 50k. While they discuss raising the missing funds, Shoresy attends a dinner with his foster family. Once his father (Scott Thompson) says grace, Shoresy bombards Nina’s (Joelle Peters) guest, Mikey, with questions. It doesn’t take long before he and Free (Rashaana Cumberbatch) are at each other’s throats. When he suggests she go smoke some more weed to take her aggressive edge off, Morris (Ryan Allen) tells Mikey that no one in the house smokes pot. As back-and-forth bashing continues Aki (Lisa Cromarty) attempts unsuccessfully to distract Shoresy. When the foster father asks about Mikey’s hobbies, Nina (Joelle Peters) brags about him being an accomplished and well-respected E-Sports player. Shorey’s teasing of him not being a real athlete leads to Free teasing him about failing to get an erection with his 9th-grade girlfriend. He claims he was doing her a favor because the size of his “dink” would have frightened her. Free only manages to sidetrack the family and embarrass Nina when she shares a vacation story about Shorey’s accidentally making out with a guy he mistook for a girl. The rest of the evening is spent discussing how well some men can pass themselves off as women. At the end of the evening, Shoresy says he’s thankful they are all so close. Aki says that success isn’t success unless you have someone to share it with.

Shoresy is later shown visiting Laura where she strips off her shirt and invites him in. At the team house, Frankie and Laurence Leboeuf (Laurence Leboeuf) watch from the couch as Dolo and Goody apparently take Shorey’s advice to remain abstinent.

On the pregame talk show, Questionable Call, Anik Archambault (Kim Cloutier) welcomes Jay Onrait (Jay Onrait), Tessa Bonhomme (Tessa Donhomme), and RA (Brian McGonagle where they discuss the upcoming Bulldog game while also looking back at excerpts from the previous game. After Shorsey is shown teasing Delaney over his alleged cocaine use, the panelists of experts debate how much Americans hate losing to Canadians.

The Bulldogs are shown gearing up and packing their team bus for the big away game. Liam (Keegan Long) captures footage of the team’s arrival when he’s joined and teased by Cory (Bourkee Cazabon) for his choice of Bulldog attire. Nat teases Miigwan about wishing Sanguinet (Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat) good luck while she and Ziigwan await the team’s arrival in the stands. Miigwan in turn teases Nat about Schnurr.

Jory Jordan (Maclean Fish) interviews Palmer, Schnurr, and Delaney on the Sudbury Kid’s report where he also teases Delaney about his alleged cocaine use.

After getting the Bulldogs fired up in the locker room, Sanguinet lays out his suspicions that the Americans will line-match Palmer with Shoresy. Singling out the Jims,(Jon Miraty, Brandon Nolan, and Jordan Nolan) he says the team will be relying on them to handle that. They assure him it’s as good as handled. One of the Jims surprises the entire team when he delivers an inspirational speech about the adversities they’ve overcome this season. When he mentions Michaels (Ryan McDonnell) joining their trivia team, Michaels talks about him finding someone to share the success with. Referring to Pam (Michala Brasseur), Hitch says he’s thankful to have found someone he can enjoy listening to tunes with. With the team sufficiently fired up, Sanguinet tells them that they are going to be introduced individually tonight, rather than as a team.

As soon as the anthems and introductions are out of the way, Shoresy and Palmer trade insults. It isn’t long before the Jims intervene and Palmer ends up being helped off the ice by teammates. The game resumes and seeing Laurence’s attendance inspires Frankie to sink the first goal. Schnurr sinks a goal of his own near the end of the first quarter, sending teams to the locker room even at 1. The Bulldogs celebrate the Jims before returning to the ice where Hitch is inspired by Pam’s arrival. He sinks a puck to put the Bulldogs out front. Although Pam shows up, Shoresy doesn’t score but the Hunt do and tie the game. Mercedes’s (Eliana Jones) appearance inspires Michaels and he is shown making several huge saves at the goal. The arrival of Britt and Melodie leads to both Goody and Dolo sinking a puck.

With the Bulldogs 2 goals ahead, the footage flashes 2 days into the future. Shoresy tells Nat that he’s still drunk as they discuss the team’s future in her office. She encourages him to get the partying out of the way now because they have the NOSHO Senior Tournament next. He claims they can’t lose. The season wraps with her revealing that they reached their 50k goal and will be hosting the NOSHO Tournament on home ice.

 

Shoresy Review

This wasn’t the worst season finale I’ve ever seen, although I will say it felt incredibly lacking. I did enjoy seeing the familial bickering with Shoresy’s foster family, but it all seemed completely unnecessary. I enjoyed learning more about the calendar and Shoresy admitting that Nat had such a big part in turning the team around. It was rewarding to see all the guys end up with their girl, but it almost seemed too easy. Almost too much of a happy ending. Despite that and the somewhat of a cliffhanger, I’d give the finale a 5.6 out of 10.
