Get’em Focused – As the episode opens, Carolyn tells Clarence Ford that she is choreographing a figure skating routine to “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston but denies being a professional choreographer and the ability to skate. Adam Rippon describes what Carolyn is trying to do as a “little crazy.” Mae Martin reminds everyone of Carolyn not being a professional choreographer. Elizabeth Manley questions her ability to pull it off as the “1988 Olympic Silver Medalist.”

Nat (Tasya Teles) asks Shoresy (Jared Keeso) what will be different from before if she decides to keep the Sudbury Bulldogs going. Later, the Bulldogs celebrate their win before lining up on the ice for a team photo with the 2022 NOSHO Championship trophy. The celebration continues in the locker room with Nat, Miigwan (Keilani Elizabeth Rose), and Ziigwan (Blair Lamora). Shoresy vows the Bulldogs will never lose again.

BROdude Energy’s Questionable Call – Anik Archambault is joined by guests, Tessa Bonhomme, Jay Onrait, and Brian “RA” McGonagle. A highlight from the previous weeks shows Shoresy heckling Apeldoorn before hitting the ice. He asks Apeldoorn #13 if he ever saw any crop circles in the corn patch. The heckling continues as an Apeldoorn player curses him. RA says it was entertaining. After calling the competition tight, Jay says the best stuff is when the Bulldogs take on the Norsemen. Shoresy taunts Keller (Calvin Desautels) about his Captain “C” patch. He suggests adding overhead lights, promotional ads, or a missing child’s poster to his jersey. Tessa claims to love it but the Soo Cyclones are unbeatable before questioning if the Puppers are still undefeated. Anik informs her of Shoresy’s vow to never lose again.

The Bulldogs win 20^th consecutive game. The Nickel City Post headline reveals the NOSHO champs need four more wins to secure a perfect season with no losses. Anik says if the Bulldogs pull it off, it will be the first in the NOSHO. Jay points out that JJ Frankie JJ (Max Bouffard) has the most goals in the league. Tessa reminds him of the new American expansion team. Anik announces that NOSHO comprises five teams. The Bulldogs need to beat Timmins, North Bay, Soo Michigan at home, and at stateside to score a perfect season. Regardless, the Bulldogs will maintain its first-place standing this season.

Shoresy complains that the team is “hammering too much a**”. Sanguinet (Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat) denies being distracted which Ziigwan agrees. Nat warns that too many distractions will cost the team its perfect season. Shorsey assures her that he wants the perfect season record. Sanguinet boasts of having his priorities straight. Shoresy urges him to not be a “pussy” before complaining about the team facing two difficulties – good-looking girls and a 20-game winning stream. Miigwan says it is a pity that all guys in Sudsbury are “ugly.” After complementing Ziigwan’s hair, he suggests more guys are into him than her. Sanguinet admits to being into Shoresy. Nat tells Shoresy that he raised his game like she asked him to a year ago. He reluctantly thanks her for keeping the Bulldogs going. Ziigwan boasts of the team’s standing. Shoresy has a flashback of the girls that he has been intimate with this season. Disgusted, Nat blames herself. He suggests doing away with the sexy team calendar if she doesn’t want them in “snapper”. Ziigwan questions how Nat convinced the guys to go along with it. He warns that the calendar will cause the team problems later.

Miigwan sarcastically says Shoresy looks like a “goof” in the photo. He mocks her until Ziigwan intervenes by pointing out that the calendar proceeds fund their bid to host the National Senior Tournament. Sanguinet commends the girls for keeping the calendar going. Nat orders him to let the others know that she wants the perfect season record.

Shoresy scolds Dolo (Jonathan-Ismael Diaby) for having too much sex. Dolo questions if he is addressing him. Shoresy assures him that he isn’t addressing Brant “Goody” Goodleaf. Ted “Hitch” Hitchcock (Terry Ryan) asks if he is “chopped liver.” Shoresy points out that they got more sex than him before saying he is the ugliest member of the team when Bethany Dawn makes an appearance. She describes it as “cute” when Hitch addresses her by her full name. Melody and Britt both agree that Shoresy is the ugliest.

Miigwan, Ziigwan, and Nat study the “For The Community, By The Community” calendar. Nat asks if they noticed Michaels (Ryan McDonnel) acting any differently. Ziigwan assures her that all goalies are weird. Nat stresses the need to get more kids to the games. Miigwan says when children play sports, they are not on the streets.

Shoresy says their calendar photos aren’t too ugly. Dolo describes the team as a “good-looking group.” Hitch points out that they are all in top shape. Shoresy suggests they can look back at the calendar when they weren’t too ugly. Hitch assures them that someday they will wish they were still good-looking. Shoresy reminds them of how their pictures were retaken with their tarps on. Dolo says that is a good idea. Shoresy says they are hoping to see them without their tarps.

Bulldogs are set to take on the Timberkings. Shoresy and the boys discuss being greased down for the calendar. The three Jims (Jon Mirasty, Brandon Nolan, and Jordan Nolan) race past them. The calendar discussion carries over to the locker room. The Bulldogs make their way to the ice as two videographers prepare for their entrance. Shorsey heckles Apeldoorn # 3 (Anthony Bewlz) who threatens to kill him. In the locker room, Sanguinet tries to get his teammates pumped for the game. The game starts out rough. The fight gets the crowd cheering. In the third period, the Bulldogs are up by three.

Nat, Ziigwan, and Miigwan listen outside the locker room as Shoresy badgering his teammates. Later, the guys hook up with girls. Nat attributes the girls to the team’s poor performance in the third. Ziigwan and Miigwan agree that Shorsey goes after wants he wants. The episode ends.

 

Shoresy Review

The intro didn’t feel like it had a purpose. It’s aimed at figure skating while the show is geared toward hockey. While both sports require a good deal of ice skating experience, they a very different.

The series has changed little since the first season. Saving the team falls on Shoresy who is likable, determined, and dedicated but a bit annoying. Shoresy dominates the screen time with heckles and jokes that mostly fall flat. The comedy is between wisecrack, insult, and wit/wordplay humor. Not always ha-ha funny or clever but sometimes both.

Needs more  ice time and fewer discussions.
