Revelations – As the finale of Resident Evil begins, Jade (Ella Balinska) tells Amrita about the small crocodile she found. In 2030, Jade tells her she implanted an electrode in its thalamus that delivers a focused ECT pulse. She explains to Amrita (Ayushi Chhabra) that she put it to sleep and can wake it up with the press of a button. Jade suggests going bigger with the procedure. At the University in 2036, we see a large crocodile under the water. In the past, Roth (Anthony Oseyemi) tells Jade and Billie that they have a few minutes to go in, get a bag, and come back out. Then, he’ll take them back to their father. Although Jade (Tamara Smart) says they don’t want to go back, Roth admits it isn’t their call. He isn’t worried about them screaming when they get out of the car. Evelyn (Paola Nunez) tells Bert (Lance Reddick) that he wasn’t ready and she told him before.

He didn’t listen so people go hurt. Bert says he had to help his family. Evelyn says she is keeping him and the girls safe. She claims the girls are in his office eating ice cream and keep asking about their uncle Bert. Evelyn told them that he was good and helpful. She has a new project for him. If he does a good job, the girls might be able to come stay with him. When he asks what the project is, she shows him a zombie locked behind glass. At home, Billie complains that their father is a clone and they’re science experiments. She tells Jade that she can’t pretend like this isn’t happening, but Jade admits she wants to scream and cry. Jade is convinced they just need to get away from this town, Umbrella, and all of it. She reminds her that they can use everything in the bag and run really fast.

Jade takes Pablo to Roth to say they have to take the dog with them. While she keeps him busy, Billie retrieves the bag. She begins experiencing symptoms related to the bite. Once she gets the bag, Jade returns and they escape through the window only for Roth to confront them outside. They begin running from him, but Billie stops and tries to fight with Roth. Jade joins her as both of them get thrown to the ground. Billie tells Jade to go. She doesn’t want to at first but realizes she doesn’t have a choice. She kicks Roth and flees. After Roth captures Billie, he begins questioning what she is. Umbrella guards start looking for Jade. In the present, Umbrella soldiers continue killing soldiers around Jade and Billie. After Jade admits that she can’t stop whatever she did, Billie hits her in the face. She hits her again before going into the tent where she tells Evelyn that a lot of people are going to die and she could too.

Evelyn thinks she needs her though. The Umbrella soldiers outside are forced to fall back. Jade attacks the two soldiers dragging her away while Billie walks away from the tent. Billie uses the drones to take out the zombies. Arjun (Ahad Raza Mir) hopes Jade will make it to the boat as it gets further away from land. As she gets closer, he throws a rope over so she can grab onto it. Once she does, Arjun pulls her up onto the boat. Jade rushes inside to tell Saqim (George Jackos) to press the button. He says they’re too close. Jade doesn’t think it will matter because it will go straight to Umbrella. She warns him that they’re dead if Umbrella puts one chopper in the air. Saqim and Arjun take off their necklaces because they have keys on them. They insert the keys and unlock the button which Jade presses. The massive crocodile under the water is unleashed.

In the past, Billie (Siena Agudong) is taken to Evelyn who learns she was bitten. She immediately realizes that Billie was the one in the lab and was bitten by the dog that night. Evelyn says the animal was sick so the bite makes her dangerous to others and herself. Evelyn knows she doesn’t like her much but has never lied to Billie. She asks if she can say the same about her father before Billie curses her. Evelyn suggests she is the only one who can help her. At home, Simon (Connor Gosatti) checks on Diana (Emily Child) because she is making the same dinner for Evelyn who isn’t even there. Jade arrives with Pablo because she needs Simon’s help. Diana takes the puppy before Simon and Jade walk outside by the pool. Once she tells him everything, she explains she needs to get into Umbrella to get her sister.

After Jade mentions the Joy pills, Simon pulls a few out of his pocket. They go back inside to talk to Diana who ends up slicing her finger open. Simon asks her about the pills. Diana says they’re not hers because western medicine only treats the symptoms. At the lab, Evelyn learns the virus isn’t infecting the cells in Billie’s body. She tells the scientist to get creative and find out if it is still viable. Simon calls Evelyn to ask if she is drugging his mom. She claims Diana was having trouble adjusting so they agreed she’d take the medicine to help with her anxiety. He keeps pressing her until she calls him a child who has no idea how hard she works. Evelyn claims she did it for him because Diana wanted to leave. After the call, Simon walks out of his room with Jade. Billie is told there will be one more test as she is injected with something.

She begins shaking and screaming. Billie continues killing zombies and soldiers using the drones. She realizes she is in trouble when the big crocodile comes after her. Arjun tells Jade that she had to do it, but she already knows that. Once they return to their cabin, they learn that Bea is missing. Bea (Ella Zieglmeier) gets off a boat and walks onto the land. Simon and Jade reach Umbrella as he says he can override the doors and jam the system. They’ll have roughly 10 minutes before anyone notices. Jade knows he doesn’t have to come with her so she thanks him. When Evelyn returns, she finds the scientist on top of Billie who is shaking and asking for her sister. Billie flips the guy over and stabs the syringe into his eyeball. She slashes Evelyn across the face before fleeing the room. As the alarm goes off, Billie beings panicking and trying to escape the building.

She imagines a dog coming after her. Bert tells her it is okay while trying to calm her. He realizes she wasn’t eating ice cream. When she says she needs to get out of here, Bert offers to help her find her dad. Billie says no because he doesn’t care about her and she doesn’t care about him. Bert doesn’t believe that. Once she tells him about Albert using their blood, he says his dad needs him and his brothers too. They were locked away for a long time and didn’t see the sun until they were grown up. He says Albert gave them a life and he could’ve been a lot worse. He suggests there might not be such a thing as okay since everyone is just trying to do their best. Bert agrees they can leave him though. Billie asks what would happen if they did. Bert doesn’t think anything good would happen. Albert gets mad and hits the table. He is shocked when Jade enters even though she tells him not to get excited.

He learns everything that has happened before Billie enters the room. Billie tells Jade that they cannot leave Albert here. Ten minutes pass so the building begins locking down to prevent them from escaping. Albert believes he can help them escape. In the present, Billie uses the drones to attack the crocodile while trying to make it to the airplane. It destroys the drone before Billie throws a grenade at it. The crocodile rolls over and hits the plane on the way down to the water. Jade and Arjun head back to land in hopes of finding Bea. The crocodile attacks and knocks them into the water. In the past, the zombie in the glass case tries to break free. Billie, Jade, and Simon hide where Albert tells them to. Evelyn walks through the building with Umbrella soldiers. She tells them that nobody would be alive without her so it is time for thanks.

Simon manages to get the door open, but Billie is freaking out by that point. Billie knocks Jade to the ground and bites Simon’s arm. Evelyn and the soldiers arrive in time to learn about the bite. Albert interrupts to say he can fix him, but Evelyn must let his girls go. Evelyn shoots Simon causing Jade to freak out. The two Alberts kill the guards and try to escape with the girls while Roth shoots at them. Jade wakes up and finds Arjun who can’t move. He tells her to go find Bea. Once Billie gets onto the plane, the crocodile crawls towards it. Bea sees the helicopter overhead so she finds a place to hide. Then, the crocodile comes after her.

It lays down next to her and she begins touching it. The plane returns and starts shooting missiles at the crocodile causing Bea to flee. It is quickly killed before Bea runs into Jade. Billie approaches her with a few soldiers. Billie asks if she messed with Bea’s DNA since the crocodile didn’t eat her. Jade manages to grab the gun out of the bag without being noticed. She pulls the gun on Billie while telling her to stay away from Bea. Billie says the answer is always going to be no because they’re twins and the same. However, Jade doesn’t think the same. Ever since that night, Billie has been heartless and hopeless. Jade believes that is the night she lost her city, but Billie says the T-virus stripped away all the BS. It let her be who she always was. She calls it the best night of her life. Jade asks what she is. Billie describes herself as the future and Jade as a virus. She reminds Jade of everyone around her who has died.

While she tells herself that she is saving lives, her hands are covered in blood. She is selfish because she only cares about finishing the mission and fixing what she started. Jade tells Billie to take her but let her daughter go. Billie pulls a gun, shoots her, and tells her she doesn’t need her anymore. As Bea is carried away by one of the Umbrella members, Billie takes the handgun away from Jade. In the past, Jade and the others continue trying to escape the Umbrella facility. Albert and Bert begin making a bomb because they know Evelyn won’t stop unless they make her stop. Albert tells Bert to get them somewhere say. He is going to stay since someone has to set off the bomb. The girl tells their dad he doesn’t have to do it before Bert offers to do it. Albert tells him no and that he deserves a life. Albert gives Jade a piece of paper and tells her to find the woman.

Once they leave, Albert tries to ignite the bomb only to be shot in the hand before he can. When he accuses Evelyn of killing her son, she shoots him in the leg. She was protecting him from becoming a monster. Evelyn says she is going to change the future before asking what he has. Albert says he has a pen. He uses it to light the bomb as Evelyn begins running in the opposite direction. Bert and the girls turn around to look at the explosion. In the present, Jade bleeds on the ground. Billie tells Jade that she didn’t mean to hurt him or Simon. She asks if it is going to be them always. Jade eventually says you and me. Jade tries to get up as she watches the helicopter fly away from the scene. Evelyn is pulled from the explosion. A hand pushes through the debris. As Bert drives them away from the city, Jade checks the note and sees that the name is Ada Wong.

 

Resident Evil Review

It is too bad that Resident Evil was adapted so poorly for the small screen since everyone familiar with the games knows how great the story always was. Besides a few names and monsters, this barely resembled an authentic Resident Evil experience though. Besides the one episode in the Brotherhood prison, this was rarely entertaining. The characters weren’t strong enough to carry the story and the dialogue was often immature.

More scenes likely would’ve been effective if the viewer would’ve developed true feelings for any of the characters, but most probably won’t. The young girls were tough to care about because their attitudes or at least Jade’s were often obnoxious. The acting was cheesy at times too. As for the finale, it was very messy. The crocodile or alligator surprisingly looked great.

However, there were points when it seemed like time had leaped forward by a couple of minutes. As an example, the helicopter was in the air, but suddenly Billie is on the ground with Umbrella soldiers. The editing could’ve been a little tighter considering how awkward this played out. The finale didn’t close many doors and deliberately left many open for a possible second season, but it is hard to justify another season since this one was so bad.
