Nexstar’s WGN America Obtains First-Ever Carriage Agreement with Hulu

This week, Nexstar Media Group Inc. announced its wholly-owned cable network, WGN America, had reached its first-ever agreement with Hulu for the network to be carried by the streaming service. According to the agreement, Hulu will begin streaming WGN America on January 19, 2021.

In addition, the agreement will restore Nexstar’s ABC-affiliated TV stations to Hulu + Live TV. Thanks to the arrangement, WGN America will add roughly 4 million new subscribers to its national reach. The network is currently available in approximately 75 million households in the United States.

WGN America is the home of NewsNation which is the only live nationwide newscast airing every night in prime-time. Nexstar is a publicly traded American company with headquarter offices in New York City, Chicago, and Irving, Texas. It is the largest television station owner with 197 stations across the United States.

NewsNation on WGN America launched on September 1, 2020. It airs 7 night a week in prime time. The newscast relies on Nexstar’s 5,400 local journalists from 110 newsrooms to produce content. The full press release can be found here.
