Netflix Extends Canadian Efforts With Creation Of Production Hub In Toronto

Netflix has announced that it will continue extending its Canadian efforts by creating a dedicated production hub in Toronto. The announcement was made on February 19, 2019. The company selected two studio spaces in Toronto that will expand its production presence in Canada. Netflix will lease four sound stages, office space and support space at Cinespace Studios. In total, it will be leasing roughly 164,000 square feet at Cinespace Studios.

Netflix will also lease four sound stages and adjacent office space at Pinewood Toronto Studios. At Pinewood, the company will rent space comprising a total footprint of approximately 84,580 square feet. Both sites will support upcoming series and films including Let It Snow and Guillermo del Toro Presents Ten After Midnight.

The work will create up to 1,850 production jobs for Canadians each year. Netflix already holds a lease of British Columbia’s Martini Film Studio and production sites across Canada on a production-by-production basis. The company has produced many works in Canada including Hemlock Grove, Lost in Space, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Death Note, Good Sam, and more.
