At the beginning of the episode, Price Galese (David Wenham) speaks with his employees and offers them a way out. He intends to give them money and go down for the murder of Doreen Bognor. Les Norton (Alexander Bertrand) does not like that idea and suggests a different plan. He says that it is a 2 horse race and they need to get to Doreen’s body first. Eddie (Justin Rosniak) comes up with the idea of hiring the Gecko to help them deal with the body. After the intro, Thumper (Steve Le Marquand) lets Dolores (Rebel Wilson) know that they cannot just dig up the body. They have to get permission first and Ray has been working on that.

Ray believes it is only a matter of time before they’re crowned Queen and King of Sydney. He says that he is working on getting in touch with the coroner. Meanwhile, Les applies Lozza’s paw-paw cream to Mr Wobbly. Les learns all about Gecko and his military history. Before too long, Les is introduced to Gecko (Matt Day) and it becomes clear that he is a maniac. Les is not happy to find out that Gecko is going to be staying with him at Lozza’s place. While Les is babysitting Gecko, we see that Billy Dunne (Hunter Page-Lochard) is being harassed by Price’s daughters. Once they step inside, Les finds out that Gecko has a fake leg and he has been hiding explosives in it.

He intends to use those explosives to deal with the body situation. Price keeps the coroner entertained and this prevents Ray from getting in touch with him. Ray and Dolores get in line at the council office in hopes of getting permission to dig for the body. Ray tries to use his status as a police officer to cut in line but it does not help. Les and Gecko check out the handball court so Gecko can find out which way he wants to set up the explosives. During their conversation, Les learns that Gecko lost his leg while he was trying to create room for a pool at home. Gecko intends to blow up the handball court right then and there but Les talks him out of it. He tells Gecko that it would be better to do so at night so nobody can get hurt and everyone can enjoy the fireworks.

Constable Emily Gold (Syd Zygier) returns home and gets her handgun so she can protect herself. She checks her voicemail and learns that Georgie Burman (Pallavi Sharda) is willing to cooperate with her now. They meet up and Emily learns that Georgie is willing to turn in evidence against Ray but she wants something in return. Emily tells her that she has some photos that Price might find very useful. Les and Gecko share a drink together. Les explains that he intends to go back home and start over when everything is finished with the body. Next, Les receives a call from Georgie with new orders. He leaves Gecko alone and heads to the destination to pick up the goods for Price.

Les isn’t gone long before Lozza (Kate Box) unexpectedly arrives home. She tells Gecko at her horrible day and they agree to share a drink together. Les is surprised to meet up with Emily who doesn’t believe Les will ever leave Sydney behind. They exchange the documents and go separate ways a few moments later. Georgie gets in touch with Price and tells him that she has a way to manipulate the minister (Rhys Muldoon). It appears to be pictures of the minister in some type of sexual device. Around this time, the minister shares a drink with Dolores. She wants him to speed up the dig approval but that isn’t going to happen. Price shows up a short time later and interrupts her plans.

Price shows the minister the pictures before sending him on his way. Then, Price and Dolores have a conversation. Dolores tells Price that one of them is going to die before the night is finished. Eddie goes to the hardware store and buys a lot of chain and a can of black spray paint. Emily speaks to her boss about the immunity deal. She learns that things have changed and they’re not willing to offer immunity to Price and everyone else now. Les returns to his place and finds Lozza passed out. Gecko is gone. Les contacts Eddie who believes he knows where Gecko has gone. Eddie explains that Gecko has problems when he gets drunks. He tends to start blowing stuff up.

Eddie puts on his lucky jacket. Les rushes over and finds Gecko waiting for the explosives to do their job. The only problem is that Dolores and Ray are standing on the platform with jackhammers. Eddie waits on a boat out on the water. He lets Les know that Price wants to kill two birds with one stone. Emily shows up with a gun and prepares to take down Ray. Les springs into action and pulls Emily to safety before the bombs can explode. Les gets her to safety before the bomb explodes. Eddie finds and sinks the body. He checks in his coat and finds the keys to Price’s vehicle. The following day, we see that the media has started blaming the explosion on the Palestinian Zionist League.

Les decides that he should return home. Emily receives a knock at the door. When she opens it, she finds a letter with a key inside and directions. She goes to central station and opens the box. Inside, she finds a gambling chip. During this time, Price and the others celebrate but Les is nowhere to be found. The group watches the television and learns that their side has won the election. This gives them more to celebrate. Les says his goodbye to Lozza. Before he goes, he gives Lozza the cutout of himself so she will have something when she gets lonely. Les pays a visit to Emily. They end up sharing a kiss and Emily invites Les inside. The only problem is that Les is still chaffed. He cannot have sex so he has to leave.

Les goes to the Kelly Club and leaves his suit behind. Billy finds it a few minutes later and watches as Les drives away down the street. Les makes it to a pay toll. He throws in the money. He doesn’t want to overpay and believes this could be a sign from the big man upstairs to turn around. The episode ends with that.

 

Les Norton Review

I’ve enjoyed every episode of Les Norton and I am sad that it is over. I hope that they decide to make a second season of the show. I found the finale to be satisfying and sad. It was a little rushed here and there but I still enjoyed it. Les Norton is a show that you cannot take too seriously. That is a good thing in my mind. It has charm of its own and stands apart from everything else on television right now.

I am going to cross my fingers and hope for a second season. I would watch it without hesitation. The finale scores an 8 out of 10. Be sure to catch up with previous recaps of Les Norton on Reel Mockery!
