Glitch Season 3 Finale Recap

As the episode begins, Kate Willis (Emma Booth) runs back to the lake house and warns Charlie (Sean Keenan) and the others about James and William. William (Rodger Corser) breaks into the house before being shot by Kate. They meet up with Chris (John Leary) and tell him what happened. James (Patrick Brammall) makes it to the lake house and finds William in bed. James is adamant that he needs to take care of the others. Meanwhile, Kirstie (Hannah Monson) and the others discuss their options. She suggests going back to Sam Gard (Dalip Sondhi). She tries to put pressure on Charlie (Sean Keenan) to go with her but he refuses.

Kirstie decides to go on her own. James shows up at Chris’ house a short time later. He tries to explain everything to them. He insists that a catastrophe is on the way but nobody believes him. Chris handcuffs James with the intention of taking him to the jail. Kate goes with them. Kate tells everyone to meet at the lake house later. Charlie says that there is someone he needs to see first. Charlie gives his makeshift spear to Tam Chi (Harry Tseng) before leaving. On the way to the jail, James tries to convince Chris and Kate to change their minds. Also, Chris makes a call to the police to get William some assistance.

Tam and Chi watch the news. They learn that a fire has broken out and it is coming towards Yoorana. Belle (Jessica Faulkner) becomes convinced that it is the end times. She insists that they need to speak with Judith (Taylor Ferguson) so she can get herself and her child to safety. Tam agrees to go with her. James is locked away in the jail cell. Again, James tries to convince Kate that they all need to die. He tells her she is the cancer. Kirstie arrives at Noregard and is allowed inside. She is taken to a room and given clothing and foods. The police make it to William and prepare to take him to the nearby hospital. William wakes up in the police car and sees everyone at the cemetery with the fire nearby.

He digs the bullet out of his stomach. When the police car arrives, William makes his escape. Charlies goes into town and meets with Raf (Jackson Gallagher) at the pub. They go into Raf’s room and it appears that they have sex. Kirstie is shown in the bath. She hears something outside and watches as Noregard workers haul someone in on a stretcher. This convinces her that she needs to get away. There is just one problem. The door is locked and she cannot get out. She eats the food quickly and prepares for a future escape attempt. As they walk along, Belle tells Tam about the end times and the return of the Prophet. They run into Anne (Susan Prior) and Judith. Belle tries to convince them that they need to get away.

Chris glitch season 3 finale

She confronts her mother about the lies she told the police about her death. Judith becomes convinced that Belle is the prophet. Judith gives Belle and Tam. During this time, Tam has a flashback. He continues walking through the camp until he is told to get the troopers and save his friends. He runs off and runs into a young Paddy (Rhys Mitchell). He tells Paddy what he needs to do but he never gets a chance. Paddy says that he is going to become mayor of this town before killing Tam. Tam gets out of the car and tells Belle that he needs to go to the cemetery to release the spirits. She leaves Judith and agrees to follow Tam to the cemetery.

Phil’s body is brought into the Noregard lab before Carl (Richard Cawthorne) steals his hat. During a car ride with Sam, Kirstie throws up and on his and uses the distraction to escape. Back at the police station, Chris speaks with James about how he has changed. Kirstie arrives and tells them that Noregard cannot be trusted. William arrives at the police station once they leave. He sets James free and tells him that they need to go to the cemetery. Kate makes a call at the lake house before Charlie arrives with Raf. They begin discussing their plans. Charlie intends to go back to Melbourne with Raf. Soon, Noregard officers arrive and use stun guns on all of them.

At this time, it appears that Raf dies and comes back to life. Mark (Dustin Clare) finds Tam and Belle. He offers them a ride to the cemetery and they accept. Soon, the others are loaded into the back of a Noregard van with Kirstie and Chris. William and James arrive. They get rid of the guards and take the van. Along the way, James tells them what they need to do. Anne’s family prepares to leave. Before they can, she rushes into the woods where she is killed by bees or something another. The others make it to the cemetery and find Mark there. He says that this is above his pay grade. He releases Belle and Chi before leaving in the van. Again, James tries to explain things to everyone.

Charlie and some of the others prepare to leave but Raf stops him. He admits he died and came back. He believes what James is saying. Chi decides to carry out the ritual and release the spirits. Belle remains by his side the entire time. Kate still wants to live and Kirstie is scared. William tells everyone that life and death are not opposites. He blows the whistle and tells everyone that they can hear it. They do and William walks into the fire. Chris tries to stop the others but he cannot. Kirstie and Charlie express their love for one another before entering the fire together. James wants to enter with Kate but she won’t let him. She goes alone. Belle and Tam Chi stay together before being consumed by the fire.

Once everyone is gone, James and Raf are left behind. They disintegrate right before Chris’ eyes. Once they’re all gone, it begins down pouring on Chris and the grass starts growing again. We jump forward in time. An older Chris takes Nia Hayes (Brenna Harding) to the cemetery. They visit James’ grave together. Nia wants to know what happened on the day of the fire. Chris agrees to tell her everything. He gives her the whistle that William had too. He tells her that it was the only thing that survived the fires.

Glitch Review

I enjoyed the finale of Glitch. I guess it is all over now but I do have some questions. I can see why people disliked it but I did not. The writers were really restricted here. They could’ve satisfied fans with a nice, comfy ending but that would have been even more unrealistic. What were they going to do? Find a cure to keep the dead alive? The season has been building up to this so most people saw it coming. I did. I thought it was well done and very emotional.

It was a bit rushed and there but I found it satisfying nevertheless. It wasn’t perfect but it was still good. The hardest thing to do is put an end on something good. There is one minor problem here. I am pretty sure that Nia was dead in one of the prior seasons. Didn’t something happen to her during labor or didn’t Phil do something to her? I am pretty sure that she was possessed or whatever too. I’ll never understand the science behind Glitch but that doesn’t matter.

I’ll never fully understand the flashbacks either. During the flashbacks, it was hard to know who was who. Again, it mattered very little. You have to overlook the flaws to enjoy the show. I felt that the season was very good. It was much better than the other shows currently on television including Peaky Blinders, Poldark, Wentworth, and others. I enjoyed watching Glitch but not the others. Take that for what it is worth. I’d give the final an 8 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Glitch before leaving!

  1. Kevin Ward says:

I enjoyed the show, but there is one underlying premise left unresolved. In the series finale, we had 2 new characters rise from the grave. The pattern continued. So after everyone is dead at the end, what is to say that no one else will ever rise from the grave? Whatever caused all of them to rise (especially the last two, proving it can still happen) is left unresolved. It could still happen, as it did in the last episode. Maybe when the show is itself rises from the grave in a few years we will find out lol.

    • ReelMockery says:

lol! I agree. It was open ended. I thought Nia had turned dead/evil at one point too? I can’t remember for sure though. Thanks for the comment. I could see them bringing it back and hope they do. It would be very entertaining with new characters and a slightly different premise. After all, this season started out with a full episode about Tam Chi and Belle. I loved that. Gave the series new life.

      • Theresa Hairell says:

Nia never died. Her mother, Sarah, died after giving birth then came back. Phil was curious about Sarah’s attachment to Nia and frequently stared at Nia as an infant but he never harmed her.

        • ReelMockery says:

Ah, I thought her eyes turned at one point though? Seems like it happened sometime during the second season. Anyway, thanks for your comments.

          • Theresa says:

There was never a time when Nia died etc, though I suppose that with Mom’s care being immature you could have morphed ‘her negligence’ the park scene with the dog, into something more than it was, (a dog sniffing) leaving you imagining in your mind that more happened.

Here are a couple of my questions… Eilisha and William had past lives, and even before there was any scientific thinking available, they managed to die and return. Which leads me to the biggest flaw… Why did their past dieing and rising not cause a huge rift in the WORLD. W
Shouldn’t that have gone against the natural order, etc. The World should have been destroyed long before the entire 7 group resurrections.

            A few more thoughts…

            1. I have never seen so many people dieing by bumps on the head, etc.
            2. The entire homosexual agenda seemed to be a hot button topic the writer liked to pushed repeatedly. I felt like the bar owner was brought into the picture for this purpose, as was Raf. The entire ( tazzing death was so idiotic).
            3. James’ bumping his head and dieing/resurrecting was such an odd occurance, that it almost felt like he had awoken from a nightmare.
            4. What was the deal with the ex-con love interest. It seemed he had some SECRET involvement with the DARK SIDE. After (Katie) told him her story ‘ he needed a moment’s:alone, then steps out and made a strange call to someone. Who did he call?
            5. It is too bad they couldn’t have all loaded up in one of their big vans, all hand cuffed to a seat, then the Nice policeman who survived could have driven them past the ‘ no longer ‘ existent boundary, and just as the process of all turning to dust, he could run the van into a tree, smack his head on the windshield, BAM… His eyes flash— Season 4… Puts him on a plane for Jerusalem (Geez Louise!!!) how did Jesus get involved in this???
            6. This brings me to the whole RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS, and poor lil Belle. For me it seemed obviously that the Series’ writer had an agenda against Christianity, and if all Christians were like Belle’s family, who wouldn’t hate them.

            That’s all for now.

          • Fabiola says:

Besides promoting the homosexual agenda (pushing it down your throat in a manner totally needless for the plot), obviously there is a grudge against Christianity. Besides portraying Belles family as a fanatic (not to say satanic) cult, Vic kills Maria (who is clearly the most religious character), the member of the Board of Noregard (Sam Gard) tells Kirstie that “they are not like Jesus, but Jesus is like them”), and there is also a scene where James kneels down at the cemetery in order to pray before a statue of the Virgin Mary and suddenly interrupts his prayer and just stands up and heads off saying “F*** it!”.

          • ReelMockery says:

Thanks for pointing this out. I try not to overthink these things, but I can see where you’re coming from.

          • Patrick Reid says:

I am a bit confused. Are you mxing up 2 different series here? On one hand you refer to ‘Glitch’ but then it seems you drift off and mention a season 4 with an incident I think happens in ‘Messiah’. Forgive me if I’m wrong. (Smile)

          • Patrick Reid says:

I am a bit confused by Theresa’s comments. Forgive me for contradicting but are you mxing up 2 different series here? On one hand you refer to ‘Glitch’ but then it seems you drift off and mention a season 4 with an incident I think happens in ‘Messiah’. Forgive me if I’m wrong. (Smile)

      • Marlis says:

Yesterday I watched the final on Netflix Germany and I was also left with some questions. What about the woman Willam met in melbourne? Is she also involved ? William first thought he met Elishia in the future but it was not her. I dont know the connection about William and Elishia. They must have met in the past, but in which life ?
the end was ok, because the risen dead people didnt belong in the present time.

but who rise the other from death like James, Raf, Pete and so on? They come back to life to kill the deads, but it was unsolved how it happened.
I:m sure that Nia has also a secret, because she looked so strange to the pipe Chris gave to her.

        • ReelMockery says:

Hey buddy. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Sadly, the show just dropped off and never mentioned that character again. I wish they would have because I really liked that side story and the actress. It left a lot of loose ends untouched.

      • Squinch says:

I have a (kind of related) question- I know Sarah died and came back during childbirth but at what point did she die again for good? I only remember her leaving nia with james and her parents and leaving yoorana for a while to to her post natal depression but I don’t actually remember her dying after that? Can anyone help?! Thanks!

  2. Selena says:

I came to care about the characters and suppose that is in part why I found the series finale disappointing. I would have preferred “the Risen”, who were given a second chance, to go on to live happier lives than they had the first time around. Doing good in the world knowing what they know now. The series could have continued with story arc’s following newly risen characters, as it did in season 3 with Belle and Chi.

If there wasn’t enough interest to produce another season, I am glad the people involved did end the show with an acceptable conclusion, rather than a “cliffhanger”. More fair to fans. I would recommend this series as binge-worthy.

By the time Netflix rolled out season 3, I had largely forgotten the backstories of the characters and didn’t want to watch the previous 2 seasons again to catch back up.
Thank you reelmockery for taking the time to write recaps. Much appreciated.

    • ReelMockery says:

You’re welcome and I agree with everything you say. It takes forever for new seasons to come out and I can barely remember what is going.

6 episodes a season and 3 seasons? It is easily binge-worthy. Has been one of my favorites despite some flaws and hiccups along the way.

    • Jackie says:

      What’s the whistle ?

      • ReelMockery says:

It was John/William’s. He had the whistle from the beginning. I’ll be honest with you. I don’t think the show went in depth about it.

Just that blowing it had some type of unique effect on the returned.

        • Glenn says:

The whistle is for you to remember your lost memories.

        • Theresa Hairell says:

The whistle was in the same sound frequency as Eilsha’a experiment. When William blew the whistle at Elisha’s grave in Yoorana, it produced the same symbols in the dirt that we had seen in the experiment with the sound equipment.

I would have liked to know more about the origin of the whistle and how William and Elisha were connected.

    • Tony Sanfilippo says:

Felt the same way real disappointing end. Maybe I miss it but I never felt I knew “why” about anything

  3. Lucky M says:

“You have to overlook the flaws to enjoy the show.”

Then this isn’t a constructive review. Seems you’re biased from the get-go.

    • ReelMockery says:

Not sure what you’re getting at. I loved all three seasons. The show has plenty of flaws. Some of the characters are slightly annoying especially Kirstie. There is no rhyme or reason to the science.

Why are the dead returning? Who knows? Will it actually stop or can it be stopped? The flashbacks are not concise. Many times, they do not make sense and I have no idea who the characters are. Like Charlie’s buddy who was bashing homosexuals. I have no what his name was.

On the flipside, the relationships between the characters were great. Despite Kirstie being an annoyance, she had a strong bond with Charlie and it was sad to see them go together. I also felt that the ending for Belle and Chi was emotional.

Again, I liked the show but I am not blind to its flaws. If you’re going to come here and just bash my opinions, I would at least appreciate it if you add your own. After all, I think we’re all a little bias.

Some people will defend shows that have become horrible simply because they liked the first 3 or 4 seasons. So, you can call it what it is. Would be nice if you actually offered some opinion of your own though. I am drawing blanks here.

      Thanks for the comment.

      • Elisabeth says:

Well those are not flaws from the show, it’s just you that didn’t like certain things. I really liked Kirstie, I don’t think she was annoying at all, if someone was annoying for me it was Maria, but not that much. And for the flashbacks and characters I understood every character. Why do you have to know the name of Charlie’s ‘buddy’? it’s not necessary it just shows that back then they hurt homosexuals so Charlie sees it as a bad thing that’s why he separate’s those two men kissing at the 80’s place.
Then it is said why they were brought back and why it’s not going to happen again. The only one who knew how to do it was Elishia and that’s how she brought William back, but the problem is if someone is thinking about a dead person buried there at the same time as Elishia is doing it then they are brought back too, like James was thinking about Kate and Chris about Kirstie. So when Heysen and William try to bring Elishia back they are doing it again, so like before the ones thinking about a person buried there goes back to life, that’s why Chi and Belle are brought back.
Also Nia never died, the hospital thing was Sarah not Nia, and Phil didn’t do anything to her, he just stared because he didn’t understand why ‘the new Sarah’ was taking care of her.
The doubts that I didn’t understand much or weren’t really shown were the whistle and the connection between Elishia and William.

  4. mahadi jasman says:

since noregard is still there, i believe there will be season 4.

    • Selena says:

From what I read, the producers said there won’t be a season 4.

Remote possibility: Netfix decides to pickup the show and produce new episodes?

If they did, I suppose they would have an entirely different cast, given everyone except Chris perished at the end of season 3. They could use Nia and the mysterious whistle as a starting point- hmm.

      • ReelMockery says:

Yeah I read the same somewhere. I think they could do good with it. I felt that one of the best episodes this season was the very first. It was fresh and exciting with the introductions of Chi and Belle.

Netflix could pick it up but I would assume it would depend on the popularity of it? Hopefully people will start watching it and bumping up those numbers.

        • Selena says:

From what I’ve read of Netflix’s business model, it seems unlikely they would continue it.

Now that the complete series is on Netflix, if the numbers are high, perhaps producers in another country might do a copycat. Glitch -CA, Glitch-UK, Glitch-US, etc. ?

          I would watch a “reincarnated” version. 😉

          • ReelMockery says:

Agree with that. Just hope they do not copy it and make things worse like they did with Rake. Hopefully people are watching it a lot on the streaming services. I have received a lot of attention for it here despite few comments so that says something.

      • JaS says:

Enjoyed Glitch. I was satisfied with the ending but was mixed about Nia at the end but lended to the wrap up and potential for an opening for a sequel, movie, or a new beginning. No mention of No-regard in the end either 🙂 I expected maybe a news story perhaps.

I did enjoy the new characters and their backstory but that also became a pattern in the series so keeping that fresh could be tough. They could have eluded to the same phenomenon happening elsewhere if they wanted someone to consider or have interest in a spin off. Still, you never know.

        • Ash says:

I though Belle and Chi rose after they did the cemetery thing at the end of 2 when they tried tp bring Elisha back or when William tried again in the beginning of season 3? It seemwd like William kept resurrecting and dying to keep the rules right and when Elisha met him and fell in love she brought him back with science and all of the og risen ended up resurecting along with him. I do wish we got a little more info on the how part lol but at one point Elisha did explain it. I really enjoyed this show it did have flaws but so did GOT and that just won anoyher Emmy lol. Your recaps were great so thank you!

          • ReelMockery says:

Agree with everything you said. Not sure why people can’t admit some shows just have flaws and that doesn’t necessarily make them horrible. All shows have problems I think.

You could be right about Belle and Chi. I do think Elisha spoke about the science behind it at one point but I am not sure they ever nailed it down. Kinda just left the question up in the air.

          • Mary says:

Ash I agree that is what I took from the series too. Nia was the baby and it was her Mum Sarah (Kate’s best friend and James’s wife) that died in labour and was resurrected. The end of the final episode showed them all walking into the fire to return the world to order and undo the imbalance. Hence cos James was also dead he disappeared leaving Nia an orphan. The final scene was what happened 20 years later, as Chris said the fire was 20 yrs ago. I didn’t see any more coming out of their graves so can’t see there being a return. Only unanswered question I have was Nor-guard punished etc.

          • ReelMockery says:

Yep! You are correct on everything you said.

        • ReelMockery says:

I agree. The concept of the show was great and could easily be reconstructed for other shows. Would love to see something like that as long as they can maintain the same quality or enhance it. Agree that the ending was a bit too open-ended.

  5. Selena says:

What I find odd is they only made 6 episodes per season, and each season was aired 2 YEARS apart. Glitch was a continuation drama, not episodes that could stand alone. How did they expect to build audience loyalty doing that? Give the series a chance of success? I don’t get it.

I’m watching “Dark” now on Netlix. Not enjoying it as I did “Glitch”. A re you recaping it?

    • ReelMockery says:

I agree. It was very difficult to remember what was going on. I haven’t seen Dark. Not as good, huh?

I’ll do a little research and consider watching it. Haven’t got anything else lined up anyway. Just a few episodes of a few seasons of different shows. lol

  6. Lindsey Barr says:

I think i missed an episode somewhere i dont remember seeing james die.. Can anyone tell when. I binged watched it and seriously dont remember seeing it I loved this series

    • ReelMockery says:

Was either the first or second episode this season. When he is out drinking with his dad, he goes into the bathroom, slips, and bashes his head on the sink? Either way, he bashes his head on something and I think this is supposed to be the point when he dies. He begins acting odd a short time after that incident.

      • Theresa Hairell says:

Yep – he slipped in the bathroom at the restaurant, based his head hard on the sink and hit the floor dead. Then a few seconds later he woke up and was ready to return to Yoorana. Blink and you’d miss it!!

  7. Christopher Joe Marbutt says:

Season Two was wrapping up to be a love story between Elisha and William. They were star-crossed lovers from another dimension, I gathered. It was a little bit of a stretch from season one but not a bad stretch. Then it was just brushed aside.

What was never clear with the season three recon was causation versus effect. Why should the Risen be a cause of the Apocalypse rather than one more effect of it? There whole season felt more muddled, and it was hard to remember why I was suppose to care about the characters.

    • ReelMockery says:

I agree with a lot of what you said. It took so long for each season to come out that I completely forgot about the previous episodes. Certainly didn’t help. I am thinking Genevieve O’Reilly might’ve wanted out of the show. She was in Tin Star and might’ve thought it was going to be bigger or lead her to bigger things.

      Could be wrong though.

      • Tushee says:

I finished all the episodes of glitch. Well a lot of questions pops up in my mind. First of all, if Elishia brought all the deads back then how come William died twice earlier? He was a robber at first and then he died and became a navy and again died and Elishia brought him back. How could he live two lives even before Elishia was born? And what’s with the case with the whistle? Does it magically bring dead from the grave? Or what? Even science didn’t work out too well. And how come Vic, Phill and Sarah died and get back at the same time without any whistling or med? James and Pete too! I didn’t think that the dead were brought back because of they were remembered by others, if that’s the case then who remembered Maria, or Charlie or Chi or Belle.
However I really wished to know about Elishia and William’s meeting 😩 They should have at least gave us the replies at the end🥴😤

        • ReelMockery says:

Sadly, I think we all had questions after Glitch ended. While we found out what happened to the characters, we never got enough answers to form a coherent explanation of what actually happened. Really wish they would’ve spelled it out for us but I wonder if the writers even knew.

    • Jackie Jameson says:

Agree 100%. Elisha said that she ad William “we’re something else” before they inhabited these bodies. I bought into that storyline and thought she would come back and they all (the risen) would revert to pure energy and return to the other dimension and live happily ever after. Nope—huge convoluted MESS of an ending that made ZERO sense. I loved the Australian scenery, but the writing and motivation for individual characters was beyond stupid.

      • ReelMockery says:

Can’t argue with that. Think the show deserved a better ending and it was rushed. I didn’t mind it since it was better than nothing and at least we know what they decided to do with it. Thanks for your comment.

  8. Manoline says:

How did James die exactly? Can someone remind me?

    • ReelMockery says:

I think it was in the second or first episode. When he was out drinking with his father, he went into the bathroom and fell. He smashed his head into the sink or floor. That is when he died. At least, this is what I believe.

  9. Ian says:

I think the science behind it is meant to be explained by William’s last words, ie where he says you can’t see death, but you can hear it. He then blows that old whistle that seems to have the perfect pitch that reaches the dead. I think that is why he resurrected in the 1800s, as someone on the ship he drowned off blew the whistle. Then he died, and it wasn’t until Elisha found the same frequency with science that he came back again. I also think that was meant to be the twist ending with Nia getting the whistle at the end. The scene ended quickly at that point – I expect the producers wanted a cliff hanger, so the viewer can wonder whether he blew it, or not, with so many buried bodies around her.

Am I the only one who thought this though??? The only part of this theory that I’m not sure fits is, I can’t quite recall how Elisha died, and whether she had some noise around her to bring her back? I’m assuming she did, and that was how she got the idea for her research, but I can’t remember. If anyone knows that, and it fits with my theory, then I think that’s the answer.

    • ReelMockery says:

Yeah I think you could be right. Did seem to have something to do with noise. Seems like they played an eerie noise like that when they were attempting to perform the ritual at the end of last 2 too. Best theory I’ve seen so far 🙂

  10. Amanda Tucker says:

I think I missed something… why does James disintegrate at the very end?

  11. Johnny says:

Agh… This show started as an amazing show in season 1, to a good show with flaws in season 2, to a guilty pleasure in season 3. This season was terrible! Nothing made sense… And omg when Charlie told Raf “I’m glad I met you”, I would have been like, bitch im not! U got me killed!!!! … With that being said, it was a guilty pleasure cause I still enjoyed it… So take that for what is worth 😬

    • ReelMockery says:

lol! Agree. It had plenty of flaws and anyone who says otherwise isn’t telling the truth. Still better than everything else on television right now. haha Thanks for the comment.

      • Ian says:

They certainly just abandoned the whole Elisha and William being “connected” story line from season 2. No idea why she, after coming back, decided to raise William (and by accident the rest of the dead!).

        • ReelMockery says:

Yep. While I liked the show a lot, there were plenty of things that made little to no sense. That was one of them. I am not sure the writers even knew how the science of it all worked. lol. Still a fun watch if you can overlook these problems.

        • rolotomassi says:

that was the biggest ‘Glitch’ of the entire show for me too Ian !!!

  12. Westley says:

Honestly I would have liked an alternative ending where Alicia and John Doe can stop the end and save people. Of course they find this out after the group of “nature’s chosen” kill some of the group. This of course might have lead to cut off much of Chris’ role in season 3 as leader which I personally liked

  13. Cathy says:

There is still one person not accounted for. The Noregard people had Phil’s body in a body bag. We don’t know what happened to him. Did Noregard use his body for more research? Why didn’t he disintegrate when he died like James and William?

    • cathy says:

Sorry, I meant to ask, why didn’t Phil disintegrate like James and Raf?

      • ReelMockery says:

Hey Cathy! I thought this was weird too. I was waiting for his body to turn to ash or whatever happened with the others. I have no explanation for this. Just another glitch in the Glitch TV show. lol!

        • Ross says:

It was because ALL those risen from the dead were not dead again. Once that happened, James and Raf disintegrated, so you can assume the same happened to Phil.

  14. rolotomassi says:

I assumed they left it open-ended on purpose that they still have Phil in the bodybag on ice(not disintegrated) at Noregard, or he would’ve already’ve been dust by the time that asshat took his baseball cap…he also still holds all the info that James gave back to him through that mouth to mouth thang…. just like with VIC, although “dead” & buried, he still gave Phil that info about the necessity to put the world order back in balance….THEN he disintegrated… that Silver Haired Swedish Recruiting Villian’s Company proteges are probably still around as well as Dr. David Goldman…( a lil’ aside- the actor who played Dr. Goldman[Max Brown]- is now filming “Hungry Ghosts”…what Chi kept calling himself & Belle). -Also, I assumed that Nia definitely died & came back shown when the camera did the close up on her eyes changing…Now she’s finally back in town & was given the ‘dead whisperer’ whistle at James’ grave– by loyal friend to the end Chris! —I loved Chris-poor guy-so happy he found happiness & a family…oh, & naming his daughter ‘Kate’…*long sigh… And,yeah,as others said, random bodies wouldn’t keep coming up necessarily. It made sense that only 2 came up when the Dr. & William tried to replicate Elishia’s experiment & that was it…. anyway, I liked it-flaws & all….AND I LOVED “DARK”….ALOT!!!! just have to pay attention alot more.

    • ReelMockery says:

Haven’t heard about Hungry Ghosts. Is that going to be a sequel of Glitch or anything like it? Just checked the IMDB page for it. Sounds interesting and the cast looks promising. Thanks! Will keep an eye on it.

  15. Kat says:

Oh I feel bad for Phil’s family, they were expecting a him to come back =\ the ending was ok but did leave things a bit open as talked about. Glitch was one of my favorite series non the less though, wish it had another season!

  16. Roger says:

It was a great show, but isn’t it strange all the bushfires appear at the end, just like in Australia, right now !?!
Or is it just a coincedence ???

    • ReelMockery says:

That is odd. I never heard anything about Australian fires until soon after finishing Glitch. Not going to say it is a conspiracy or anything but who knows? lol. Never doubt anything.

  17. Patricia says:

I’m SO glad I was able to find decent recaps for Glitch. I was ready to give up when I stumbled on your site & to say I’m grateful is an understatement!

I’ve been watching Glitch since it arrived on Netflix & patiently awaiting S3. It has absolutely been double edged. There are some plot holes but what show doesn’t have a few? There are a few things I was disappointed with but I know I’m not the only one. BUT when it’s all said & done I enjoyed the show so much I have binged your recaps for things I might’ve missed & trying to make sense of a few things in one evening. And that was after watching the final season in less than 24 hours!

As someone else said, I felt like S3 was rushed. The entire series seems rushed in retrospect, actually. They were out of money, someone wanted out of contract, etc. & on one hand it made things more difficult to follow but it also made writers push on to give us an ending rather than a cliffhanger, which I greatly appreciate. Having watched shows before that have zero wrap-up in the final episode/season I’m just glad we got a final season wrap-up. (Imposters still infuriates me if I think about it too much.)

Side note: as someone who isn’t remotely a fan of sci-fi I think this was an exceptional series. Definitely binge worthy & even possibly a remake or continuation of sorts. Maybe. My concern in that regard is it wouldn’t ever live up to our “Glitch-y” standards, I’m afraid. As someone who has been a fan from the beginning I can’t imagine another series with the same concept. Or even a pick up with Nia series. I was invested in these characters & unless there’s a return of at least a couple from this era I can’t say I’d be interested. I’d definitely give it a whirl, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t imagine it catching/holding my attention as this Glitch did. I’d still love to see them try because hopefully I’m wrong!

    Final thoughts:
Definitely needed more William/Elishia explanations after S2. (A series that explains ALL the gory details of their relationship & backstory I would absolutely watch. And naturally we would see more unplanned Risen & a splash of Noregard to keep us hooked.)
No more Kate/James/Sarah triangle. That was my least favorite storyline of the entire series.
I really wanted Kirstie to be the one to kill the rapist & damn the writers for cheating me out of it.
I soooo wanted to see Charlie find love & be able to live his life loud & proud!

Thank you, again, for the recaps. They made my final Glitch season binge so much more enjoyable. I wish I’d found them BEFORE I started watching S3.

    • ReelMockery says:

Thanks for the kind words. I agree with everything you said. It is indeed nice to see a show get a proper ending even if it isn’t want you wanted. Too many shows get short changed and end up ending out of the blue leaving us guessing for eternity. Not fun.

You can tell people at least were genuinely interested in the show with all of the comments here. That is a good thing and it likely kept them entertained up until the 3rd season or the ending. So, you got to be thankful for that too. I’ve given up on many shows after just a few episodes. lol

Thanks for your kind comments again. I’ll accept recommendations from anyone who has them and I’ll watch about anything. I’ve also started adding YouTube videos for some of these shows and that might help. Anyway, thanks again.

  18. Norbert says:

Having just finished the entire series in a couple of weeks and having read pretty much everyone’s comments, my two cents are these :
    1) disintegration seems arbitrary. James, yes, Raf yes, Vic yes, Paddy yes, Carlo yes, Phil no, Maria no, Elishia no, Pete, no Sarah no. It doesn’t seem to discriminate between the Risen and the Hunters. Why? no answer.
    2) I’m guessing that Mollie becomes Paddy’s wife and at some point Paddy discovers Mollie and Chi were lovers and Mollie at some point discovers that Paddy killed Chi, thus fueling her hatred which she passes on to her son that results in Paddy’s son killing him. It is never revealed in season 3 what the exact relationship is between Paddy and Mollie, were they already married? Soon to be married?
    3) As others have commented, the exact nature of the relationship between William and Elishia is confusing. If the rules of the universe are broken by the rising of the Risen, why not when William and Elishia rise and with William that is at least twice, once after he drowns and once after he gets hanged. If as we know, the other Risen were accidents from the vibrations, and William first re awakens some time in the early 1800’s then how come the universe hadn’t destroyed itself then? The only conclusion I can come up with is that Elishia and William are not “human” in the sense that we understand it. Their re awakening is “natural” and thus does not upset the rules, whereas Elishia’s 21st century recreation of the vibrations that do re awaken the Risen causes the universe, or, dare I say it, God to get pissed off enough to threaten to destroy the universe as some lesser being than god has done what only God theoretically could do. Too bad the writers did not explore this angle more fully. We never really know how they are connected as Elishia told William.
    4) For me there is wonderful poignancy in all the stories of the Risen. After all, what would any of us do if the great love of our lives suddenly returned and forced us into a Hobson’s choice? Having Sarah be pregnant was the only way James could remain loyal to her, as even Sarah admitted to Kate that she knew James would never get over Kate. As for Kirstie and Charlie, I loved her anger, and yet you could always see she had a soft spot that Pete nearly extinguished by raping and killing her. You see that when she spies on her friend and assumed that her friend was in on it only to discover she was raped too. Kirstie suddenly felt remorse about her anger towards her friend by misjudging her. It would not have been believable to have Charlie and her become so close unless he was gay. Kirstie would never have allowed a straight guy to get that close to her. And that of course allowed the writers to explore what life for Charlie was like in his time period. Thus Russell is the only guy who could understand losing his mates by being old enough to reference the AIDS epidemic of the 80’s. That, was a great touch. I think we needed more of the backstory of Chi. I think this is related to what I think Mollie’s relationship is to Paddy. As for Belle, it is never clear why they think she is inhabited by a demon, just because her mom catches her exploring herself? It didn’t seem to hurt Anne to go for it since she had 3 kids. In any event religious fanaticism is not a new story and has limits on what you can do with it.
    5) Bottom line is I enjoyed the series very much, flaws and all.

  19. Norbert says:

It just occurred to me that in note #2 of my post, Paddy’s “son” kills Paddy exactly as Paddy killed Chi. If my speculation is right that Mollie of season 3 becomes or was Paddy’s wife in season 2 when we see Paddy’s son slice Paddy as he did Chi, why would the son do this unless…. the son was really Chi’s son by Mollie? Just sayin’….

    • ReelMockery says:

Thanks for the in-depth comment/analysis. I am with you. I enjoyed the show despite some flaws. Sadly, I doubt we’ll ever get to the bottom of everything.

  20. Steve says:

That odd look that Nia had in her eye at the end. Could she be Elishia?

  21. John says:

I really appreciate your recaps. I had to read through all of your Season 2 recaps because of the length of time between seasons. I was straining to remember everything that had transpired. With only 6 episodes per season, the writers had to cram so much story into each one. I think if they had had more time/episodes, there wouldn’t have been as many plot holes and gaps in logic. But I found the story and the characters to be engaging and am glad we got a chance to see it all play out to a conclusion. I believe that there were other “people mysteriously returning from the dead” shows around the same time. I recall a U.S. show called The Returned. And a French show. Not sure if there was any connection.
In any case, thanks again for the great recaps!

    • ReelMockery says:

Yeah I think you’re right. There was a French show that was transformed into an American show I think. Something along those lines. It seems to take so long for the Australian shows to release new seasons especially for people outside of Australia. Often worth the wait though.

Thanks for stopping by. Glad to be of some service.

  22. Charlie says:

Hi everyone.. I thought maybe I could clear up a bit for you all, or not lol. The series was cancelled by Netflix and revived by ABC with new episodes that were slated to air at the end of 2020 (or as we call it, the year that sucks and everyone wants to forget), but not sure if that’s still the case since production on almost everything was halted thanks to Rona. Ok, as far as Nia goes, there was a close up of her in her car seat and you could see a reflection, it wasn’t death or bad but it was when Sarah died (Sarah #2) I just took it that maybe she would be new Sarah in some way but after watching the rest of the series I think it was her seeing something good or maybe that she would be the good in the world. I think the writers did not do a good job of closing the gaps BUT when I saw they were getting a new life on ABC I understood a little more., just not sure how they could go back now that they jumped forward with Nia and Chris.. but good writers could make that finale just a fading memory.

    • ReelMockery says:

This is good to know. Yeah, I am a bit worried about how they’re going to reconnect with the previous story now that everyone has supposedly died. Nevertheless, I’ll always give it a chance. I didn’t mind the finale but will say that the show never really explained itself. Just didn’t seem to matter.

Thanks for your input. We’ll have to wait and see if the show returns.

  23. Sue says:

They missed out on a better ending that I was convinced was going to happen.

Professor Heysen sadi a long time ago that it was just those two – Him being John Doe William – and Her being Elisha in their many reincarnations which are always triggered by her.

The series needed an Origin story which could have been anything you like – Egyptian Pharoahs, Ancient Gods like Gog and Magog around the time of the birth of London which as Australian Writer Sarah Douglass would have been a perfect consultant for.

But the series was always hinting at another Origin story which came to nothing in the end.

The Noregard Manager who came out from Sweden said that this has happened once before – at Golgotha.
Jerusalem Stone was Elisha’s magic ingredient in the experiments she used to bring William (and inadvertantly the others back)
William was the one who took control of everyone’s fates in the end. He had also in a flashback told the priest in his last incarnation that he should never have been there and his being so was evil. He was one of the two primary protagonists.

When William walked off into the fire at the cemetery in the end I was expecting him to come back to the cemetery to talk to the others – with the same face, but longer hair and with some robes – not as himself but in his earliest incarnation – Jesus, who had finally worked out what was going on and what had gone wrong.

That would have made Elisha Mary Magdalene and guilty of finding ways to continue bringing him back because she was stunned by what happened in Jerusalem and incorrectly started playingaround until she found a way. (it would have also been a good fit for William murdering Phil for killing Elisha.

That’s what I thought would happen but I think they wasted a good opportunity in not using that.

    • Sue says:

I’m replying to my comment above because I didn’t write it very well. Forget the white robe, I was expecting William to walk into the fire at the cemetery get burnt to death then walk back out, with the long hair he used to have in his previous life about a hundred years ago.

When I say I thought he come back from the fire as Jesus I don’t mean the Son of God rubbish.

I thought the fire would kill and resurrect him but also provide the flashback to his very first life where he was an ordinary bloke called Jesus and without meaning to had broken the rules around life . With Felicia/Mary Magdalene meddling they’re two souls skirting around the boundaries of space and time. But they can’t remember former lives too well, so struggle to live and don’t know how to die because of he and what she’s worked out how to do.

He’s no Son of God. Him and her are two clever but lost souls until now.

That should have been the real tory and ending I think.

  24. Gary Crooks says:

The ending was good. Hard to wrap up a story like this, but I thought the writers did a nice job doing so. I was left unsatisfied about the Golgotha reference, and how the Risen were connected to Jerusalem. I am assuming that the owner of Noregard thought there might be a connection to Jesus’ rising from the dead, and doing research on the Risen might yield the secret to everlasting life. I would have liked a more definitive explanation for that one.

  25. Ajit Daniel says:

    Interesting concept overall!

I really enjoyed the first two seasons of the show, which could have ended comfortably with the second season. The 3rd season, unnecessary as it was in my opinion, was too stretched and rushed; not convincing at all for the most part.

    • ReelMockery says:

I can’t argue with that. Although I didn’t mind the last season, I am not sure it added a whole lot to the overall story. It really missed the point by not connecting the dots and explaining everything that was going on.

  26. Jackie G says:

I just ABSOLUTELY loved this series – I binge watched — the whole thing… twice ! all three series !!!
Decidedly, a few “glitches” (haha) 🙂 in the plotline but only just apparent .. and
Hey … that also leaves room for a few more epsiodes if it does come back with a season 4.
I think I got the whole story and …
    BTW
    @Sue a couple of comments above: says — {it would have also been a good fit for William murdering Phil for killing Elisha.}
    N.B. Hellooo \ò/ – you missed that !!! ??? OMG
Well – William did kill Phil and he said it outright “for Elishia” … and Phil’s expression is like he even seems to understand – the scene in the forest after James does the mouth thing with Phil.
TOTAL Awesomeness. I’ve watched Les Revenants and Dark and whatnot .. all the other series that are even only closely resembling or slightly related but this one really is TOTAL Awesomeness 🙂

    • ReelMockery says:

I enjoyed it as well. Didn’t mind the last season at all. I can see where people are coming from and I get it, but I still enjoyed the ending and thought it was at least somewhat fulfilling.

  28. Alyssa says:

My biggest issue with the finale is that James’ gravestone said he died in 2019 but technically the 3 seasons take place all within just a few weeks. 1-1.5 months tops…. not 3 years. The first episode was set in 2015….

    • ReelMockery says:

Good catch. It is crazy to consider that this show started in 2015. Even crazier that the story was supposed to take place over a few weeks. The finale wasn’t the best thought out finale ever for sure and this is another example of that.

  29. Gator5000e says:

Wow, I just found this site and all these great comments. I think the show has a different feel when you binge all 3 seasons is a short period of time. I watched all 18 episodes within the last 2 weeks. I have to say I thought it was an excellent show. Great production values, direction, editing, scoring (especially loved the score) and acting. Being in the US (not sure where this site originates from) I wasn’t familiar with the actors although I think I’ve seen a few before. That being said I thought the acting was top notch. (I was familiar with the actor who played Owen as he was a lead in the fantastic series, Black Sails. If you have watched that, highly recommended.)

As many have said it would have been nice to get a little more on the origins of the glitch and more of the history between William and Elisa. And the whistle was not explained well, in my opinion. Especially since it had such an important role in the ending of the story.

The ending was interesting in that the James’ army of characters completed their task to restore “balance”to the universe. And as to their disintegration, when the balance was restored, all those who were like James disintegrated as they had fulfilled their purpose. I am guessing Phil disintegrated off camera.

Also, I’m not sure how else the show could have ended. James and his crew were telling the truth. If any of Kate’s crew would have survived, the universe would have torn or ripped, as the show set up. So while we hoped for a happy ending for Kate’s crew, I’m not sure it could have ended any other way.

Anyway, I’m happy Chris ended up doing well enough and seemed happy. The poor guy was pretty disrespected early in the series but became the unsung hero Kate and her crew. He was just an overall good guy.

Again, I really enjoyed this show.

    • ReelMockery says:

Thanks for stopping by! It seems the finale really brought out strong emotions from viewers one way or another. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that people were so deeply invested in the characters by the time it ended. I really didn’t mind it and felt it was a decent way to wrap everything up but I wouldn’t have minded another season either.

I can also see why some didn’t like it. Agree about Chris. Was glad he finally stepped up and got some respect there in the end. I always enjoy Ned Dennehy who played Paddy. He is in Peaky Blinder and a lot of other UK shows. Patrick Brammall who played James was in The Moody’s which was very funny. Just ignore the US version.

Finally, I agree that watching a series straight through within a few days or weeks is so much different than watching it on a weekly basis. Makes it so much easier to recall events from past episodes, characters from past seasons, and so on. I think binge watching is sometimes the best choice for this reason and many others.

Off topic: With the Predators out, I guess I’ll have to cheer for the Lightning now lol. Again, thanks for stopping by.

      • Gator5000e says:

The.Ligjtning have their hands full with the Islanders. Down to a best out of three after last night.

Probably the best finale of a series j have ever seen was for the SyFy show, 12 Monkeys. One of the best time travel shows ever, in my opinion, it truly stuck the landing. If you haven’t watched the show 12 Monkeys and like mind spinning time.travel shows give it a shot. Fantastic. As is Travelers on Netflix. Sort ofmplays off a theme similar to.Glitch.

        Anyway, thanks for the reply!!

        • ReelMockery says:

I vaguely remember that show but never got around to watching it. May have to do that soon. After the last game, the Islanders will need to pull a rabbit out of their hats lol. Crossing my fingers for you.

  30. Patrick Reid says:

Season 3 was dissappointing because it had a few flaws. When anyone died through an accident and came back their sole purpose was to put the natural order of things back by killing the risen. How they did this was up to them but I don’t see why the use of weapons and horrible killings was needed. James was the only one who wanted them to die without suffering again and pursuaded William to use an overdose of medication in a stew to trick them into dying again.

But then we have that murdering rapist ‘Pete’ who was disabled, paralized from the waist down and had dementia. But on accidently falling down some stairs and returning to life his sole purpose seemed to be to once again murder Kirstie. His motivation for this was not to restore the natural order because if this was a spiritual return for that purpose why did he openly call Kirstie a slag and whore again to Chris by the quarry when he knew she wasn’t!? Why was his reborn body not openly repentant of her murder? In the natural order of things surely a murdered person should be allowed a second chance and their killers take their place?

When Phil comes back a second time..(which is confusing) he decides to forgo the spiritual mission and protect the risen instead.

Finally the relationship between William and Elisha puts a big spanner in the works because their conversations indicated that they were connected and had past lives before their recent characters and could have possibly been Alien Entitys, but she was afraid to accept their coupling. William did not die and come back to want to restore the natural order it just came to his consience later after Elisha was killed by Phil and she was responsible for bringing back the dead in the first place through using scientific technology? That just does not make sence. And when he first blew the strange whistle in season 2 all of the risen heard it and stopped in their tracks but did not understand what was happening yet in season 3 after he blew it again they did.

  31. Patrick Reid says:

I wanted to add a little more on the subject of disabled Pete.

Aside from ‘Fitzpatrick’ (who kind of deserved to die for his past evil life) the other members of the risen did seem to have been innocent and died needlessly before coming back. ‘Fitzpatrick’ at least recognised that he was given a second chance to right the wrong for his past misgivings and was able to give his great grandchildren a better life after his death. Which gave his story a good closure.

As for Pete, he not only admits to chris that he raped and murdered Kirstie when he was a Football Hero but tells him he is going to kill her again purely without spiritual intent. He is not repentant of his past and even tells chris he tricked him into ensuring that Kirstie’s boyfriend Kevin was set up for the murder.

Why would the spiritual forces give pete the chance to return and correct the natural order? He is not worthy!!! Pete’s actions on returning back from the grave were definately an insult to the others as he had a hand in killing one of the risen beforehand and when he died by falling down the stairs he should have stayed dead. That way Kirstie would have at least received some redemption for her murder.

    • ReelMockery says:

You make a lot of sense on pretty much everything you said. It has been probably a year or two since I watch any episodes of Glitch so I can’t really remember the details vividly or accurately. I do know that a lot of things were explained and there were plenty of plot holes that just didn’t make sense or wouldn’t have worked. I did enjoy the finale back then, but maybe not if I watched it now. It is hard to say. Unfortunately though, the series really didn’t try to explain its concepts in great detail. I do appreciate you stopping by and taking your time to leave thorough comments!

  32. Del says:

    To Patrick Reid.

You misread Theresa’s comment. She never said there was a season 4. She gave a hypothetical for a season 4 if the writers/producers wanted to continue with the series.

  33. James says:

Just watched Glitched in 2 days so everything is pretty easy to remember. Definitely wish they would’ve added more context for certain things like who was thinking about paddy, Charlie, Nico, and Chi. I loved reading everyone’s comments and the different theories about everything. Helped give some clarity to the end of it. Just wish it would’ve been more than 6 episodes per season as there could’ve been so much more information given each season. Saw someone talk about travelers and it is definitely an amazing show that I’d recommend, also wish it wouldn’t have gotten cancelled like glitch did. Was looking for something to give me more information and this page did so thanks!

    • James says:

Also from the US so was really cool to see a bunch of different things about Australia and love the accents! Would love to visit one day!

    • ReelMockery says:

Thanks for stopping by and spending the time to comment. I enjoyed this series a lot and miss it. Truthfully, it had the potential to go on for many more seasons but it is so common for decent shows to get prematurely canceled or cut short. Really underrated show despite the fact that many didn’t like the ending.
