Gangs Of London Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

As the episode begins Leif Hansen (Mads Koudal) and his men break into a house and search it thoroughly. A man ends up fighting back and his friend gets involved but both men are killed quickly. Once that is finished, Leif calls Jevan Kapadia (Ray Panthaki) to let him know that the Wallaces are on the run. Sean (Joe Cole) is transported to another safe house. Billy Wallace (Brian Vernel) drives by himself. Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu) goes looking for Shannon but runs into Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) instead. Shannon (Pippa Bennett-Warner) listens as Elliot explains he wants to tell her why he didn’t leave with her last night. Ed doesn’t understand Elliot because he never seems to pick a side and tries to make everyone like him. When asks, Elliot claims he doesn’t know where the Wallaces are hiding.

Ed says he is going to pick a side for him and that is not on his side before asking for Shannon’s key back. Elliot places it on the coffee table. When Shannon comes downstairs, Ed tells her to go back upstairs and take care of Danny. Then, Alexander Dumani (Paapa Essiedu) talks to his employees and gives them orders to find the money Finn took. Ed visits Jevan who says he has been spending a lot of time trying to convince people Alex should still be alive and should be allowed to run the business. Jevan tells him that the investors want confidence and dead bodies to stop appearing on the streets. Ed believes he can deliver that once Sean Wallace is out of the way. Jevan wonders where they could be hiding but Ed doesn’t know.

Sean flips over the bucket and finds a bullet underneath it. He hears Finn (Colm Meaney) telling him he is a Wallace. Marian (Michelle Fairley) interrupts and warns Sean that Billy still isn’t answering his phone. Sean reminds her that they’re living like gypsies now and he says it should’ve been him blowing his brains out. Sean believes they’re in big trouble because they’re fighting people they don’t know and can’t put a name to. Marian wants to go after the Dumanis and go back to Ireland. Next, Jevan learns that they have found Sean’s sister so he orders Leif to get her and keep her alive. Billy goes back to the family’s home and runs into Jacqueline (Valene Kane). He tells her he has come for her and they need to leave together but she doesn’t want to go. They go inside and Jacqueline says she’ll never go back to Ireland with Marian.

Billy warns her that he found her and the people hunting them will be able to do the same. She says she isn’t a Wallace so she isn’t sure they’ll bother with her. The house is raided by Leif and his men seconds later. Billy and Jacqueline manage to escape in a vehicle and that upsets Leif. Sean hears something at the safe house and decides to look around. He finds an empty stroller before hearing something behind him. A bird flies toward him and scares him half to death. On the wall, he finds graffiti calling them Nazis before hearing Finn talking to him again. Sean gets tired of hearing it so he bashes his hand through the drywall over and over while remembering everything that has happened. Then, he contemplates shooting himself but he can’t do it. He lets the bird fly out of the window instead.

Elliot goes to the meeting place and encounters DCI John Harks (Garry Cooper). He tells Elliot that Vicky is in deep crap and their plot to get rid of Anthony has backfired. John says he isn’t going to arrest Elliot because the Wallaces have Anthony held hostage and Elliot promises to find him. He explains the family is falling apart and he is the only one with access to both sides. John tells him what he thinks before the conversation ends. Elliot meets with Sean and immediately tries to find out what they’re doing with Anthony but Sean says it isn’t their priority. Sean is more worried about getting what is left of the family to safety. He tells Marian to go on ahead to the helicopter. She tells Sean to keep trying Billy before leaving. Sean relents and tells Elliot where he can find Anthony but he wants him back there quickly.

He offers to give her a life without being a Wallace and her name will be Arabella Seaton Cox. Jacqueline admits she wants it. Billy is sure they’ll never find her. Next, we join Mosi (Richard Pepple) who is hanging out with several people. Jin Li steps outside and tells Tariq about the people in the room. Luan (Orli Shuka) is told that the man is going to enter the room. Luan arrives outside and enters the building. He pulls a gun as he gets close to Mosi’s room and finds blood on the ground. He enters and finds his man dead before one of Mosi’s men grabs him. Jim Li hears everything and tries to escape.

Seconds later, Mosi says Mirlinda (Eri Shuka) says she will be there in a few minutes. Luan fights back, grabs the knife, and kills two of the men. Mosi tries to defend himself but Luan stabs him before poking his eyeballs out. Mosi dies before Luan leaves the room with blood all over his clothes and face. His wife meets him and leads him out of the build. Then, we learn that 250 million of the money has been found in the Caymans. Next, Elliot tracks down Anthony (David Avery) and finds Colin (Ian Beattie) interrogating and torturing him. Eventually, Elliot shoots Anthony and kills him before trying to save Anthony’s life. Another man bursts in and Elliot kills him too but he is too late to save Anthony. He shoots the other man again before cleaning the gun and putting it in Anthony’s hand. He escapes the building before Vicky arrives and finds out what has happened. Seconds later, Sean gets a call from his mother but he doesn’t answer it. She is angry that she is going to be the only one leaving on the helicopter.

Lale contacts Sean to let him know that everything is in place. Leif returns home and finds out what has happened to his mother. Luan tells his wife that what she is doing is going to send the wrong message. He doesn’t want people to believe he ran away in fear. She says they’re not running but they should leave temporarily so their enemies will kill each other. Elliot rips the evidence from his wall before Shannon visits. He becomes worried when he spots the bag full of evidence pictures on the floor but tries to maintain his cool. Elliot tells Shannon that he cannot leave Sean because that would put him on Sean’s list. He believes he can protect Shannon and Danny as long as he continues working with Sean. Meanwhile, Alexander continues working before receiving a call from Sean.

Alex tells Sean that they can stop this before Sean says he is starting to understand why his father did what he did. Sean tells Alexander to go to the window that his father used to look out while Lale drives through a parking garage. They’re on opposite sides of the Wallace building. Sean says they’re good at building and bringing buildings down too. Sean admits he can’t see the people who killed his father and tried to kill him but he can see what they own. The call ends before we’re shown the vehicle Lale was driving and the fact that it is filled with explosives. Shannon and Elliot hear the explosion in the distance before Jevan, Nasir, and Asif learn about it too.

Gangs Of London Review

Well, we’re finding getting close to the finale and I can say that Gangs of London indeed improved with time. I remember the first episode being pretty bad with terrible dialogue and violence just for the sake of it. I am still not a big fan of the series and think it could be a lot better. I felt the original storyline was more interesting than what we’re given now.

Nevertheless, there isn’t much else on right now and I can tolerate Gangs of London. It has flashes of brilliance every so often but they’re quickly overshadowed by unnecessary side stories that likely won’t make a difference in the long run. Take Elliot’s father as an example. What happened to him? Then, we have Mosi. The show built Mosi as one of the baddest men on the planet yet Luan took him out without any trouble.

It just feels like we’re being given the runaround far too often. When Gangs of London focuses on the main storylines, it is much better. The other stuff is only filled to drag out the episode and get more out of the story. Still, I am eager to see what is going to happen during the finale. I see another season is coming so I suspect we’re going to get some cliffhangers. Only time will tell.

This episode scores a 7 out of 10. You can find previous recaps of Gangs of London on Reel Mockery now!
