Gangs Of London Episode 7 Recap

As the episode begins, we hear Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) telling something he doesn’t want to argue and that it is over. Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) asks him if he is crazy and that she is a child and Finn is a grown man. Finn claims he is taking his dignity back. Ed warns him that Marian will kill him if she finds out what is going on but Finn says she won’t because Ed is going to make sure she never finds out. Finn wants to walk away, let Alex run the money, and Sean build his buildings. He tells Ed he is giving him everything but he has to keep this to himself. Jack O’Doherty (Emmett J Scanlan) listens to the whole conversation and drives Finn away moments later. Ed talks about working with Finn and following his lead.

After the intro, we join Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu) as he looks at the evidence that has been collected so far. He rearranges the pictures before calling Vicky Chung (Jing Lusi) to tell her something or someone is missing. He believes there is someone else above all of this. We watch as Hekar (Aksel Ustun) checks on Lale’s drug operation and makes sure everything is going well. He learns the demand is increasing so he tells the delivery people to get the shipments moving and don’t have any more hold-ups. He steps into another room and encounters Lale (Narges Rashidi). Lale tells him that Dilsa told the kids what she did so they’ll never come back around her again before Hekar reminds her she did everything for her country.

Then, they contemplate whether Asif (Asif Raza Mir) will strike in Kurdistan. She is worried that they’re not prepared so Hekar offers to get them prepared. Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) asks Alexander (Paapa Essiedu) if Luan knows about the money not going through and Alex confirms he doesn’t know. Sean learns about Luan’s relationship with Mosi and the money being owed to him. Alex promises that he is working on finding out who stole their money. When asked, Alex tells Sean he is at the Belvedere Tower watching the contractors sign off on the new build. Alex is convinced that Sean will be happy with it. When the call ends, Alex says they won’t be able to keep lying to Sean and they should’ve told him in the beginning.

Ed isn’t sure what they should’ve told him unless it was that his father didn’t trust him with the business. Ed claims he is protecting Sean by not telling him about the investors wanting him dead and everything else. Alex reminds Ed that he didn’t know about Finn’s deal with Luan so he wonders what else he doesn’t know about. Alex suggests Finn set the wheels in motion and had something to do with the money going missing. Ed says he screwed them all if that is true. Then, Asif watches drone footage of Sean’s warehouse and is told that Sean isn’t there right now. He tells them they should hit her hard and have no survivors. Hekar goes outside for a smoke and hears a drone above him before several vehicles rush toward the building.

Meanwhile, Ed meets with Luan seconds later. Luan pulls a gun on him and demands to know where the money is at. Ed explains it wasn’t them and they don’t know where the money is. He pleads with Ed to help him but Ed says they’re honoring his deal with Finn and not his deal with Mosi. Ed promises that they’ll both claim back what is theirs once they find out who took the money. He says they’re all on their own until then.

Alexander calls his father and lets him know that Finn had to be involved in the money disappearance. Serwa (Pamela Nomvete) continues snapping pictures while Ed tells his son not to tell anyone anything until he gets there. Sean approaches Alex and asks him if he has found anything yet. Sean admits he has been returning to the photos over and over. He tells Alex that his father wasn’t that type of person or he had an overwhelming reason to do what he did. He suggests his father might’ve been protecting them from something. Elliot meets with Anthony and tells him they’ll need to pick up some guns from a car park over in the East End.

Anthony asks if those are Sean’s orders but Elliot doesn’t like him asking questions. Marian arrives with her friends and she orders Elliot to get them food. Pictures are taken of Alex before Sean arrives at home and learns about his mother’s friends. He encounters Serwa and asks her who she is so she explains that she works for Marian Wallace. Sean approaches his mother and asks her what she has been doing. She says she is protecting him before handing him a black notebook. He looks through it and can’t believe what he is reading. He sits downs and finds out that his mother has been tracking Ed all along. She always knew Ed was lying. Then, Ed tells his son there is only one way out of this. Marian checks on his son seconds later before Danny arrives with his mom. Shannon greets Sean but neither of them is happy to see her.

As Elliot arrives, Shannon tries to figure out what is going on. Elliot is told to take Danny into the office while they chat with Shannon. Ed and Alex enter seconds later. Elliot hangs out with Danny and tries to listen to the other conversation while Marian and Sean try to get to the bottom of the matter. Ed says he only knew that Finn was leaving on the day he was killed and he kept it quiet to keep things together but Marian believes they were in on it. Sean goes through the evidence and accuses Ed of killing Jack. Ed admits that and claims he did it for the good of the family. Marian asks him about the meetings with Jevan and Alex admits they should’ve told them the truth all along. He says they found out the people who killed Finn are the same people who tried to kill Sean. He reveals that it was the investors who wanted them dead.

Elliot and Colin listen from outside of the room. Then, the conversation turns to what Finn really did. They know Finn had Luan killed the boy and Alex begins to tell them why. Finn created a parallel business for himself and robbed new investors to pay off the old ones including the boy’s dad. He had no intention of paying them back so he had them killed. He stole the money from Luan and the Nigerians as well. By the time Finn planned to vanish, he had taken over a billion and a half. Ed reminds them that he took it from everyone sitting in this room. Alex says he couldn’t find the words to say it but Sean believes it is nothing more than a lie. Marian asks them about their meeting with Jevan today so Ed explains that the investors killed Finn because he was leaving.

He says they’re willing to let the business continue as long as Alexander runs the Wallace Organization. Marian asks what they want from Sean and Ed says they don’t want Sean anywhere near the business. Ed says Finn didn’t either. Sean grabs his gun and puts a bullet into Ed before Elliot storms into the room and tries to calm everyone down. Sean calls him a Judas and encourages Alex to take his scumbag father away. Alexander carries his father out of the house and Colin shuts the door behind them. Sean tells Elliot that he doesn’t want him going near Shannon ever again. Elliot says he understands before Sean says it is just them now. Elliot warns him that they’ll come after him so he can’t stay there. Billy shows up behind Elliot before he leaves.

Billy watches as Sean and Marian hug and try to comfort each other. He leaves as the emotional meltdown continues.

Gangs Of London Review

I am not sure what to think about Gangs of London. While it is still a bit interesting, I think the original storyline was much better. Now, things are a bit all over the place and I can’t keep up with everything going on. Nevertheless, this episode had a lot of action and I am sure a lot of people enjoyed it. I would prefer to have deep emotional storylines with characters I can relate to but I don’t get that with Gangs of London.

I am not fond of any of the characters and wouldn’t care if any of them got wiped out. I’ll stick with it just to see what happens but I am not a big fan of the show. I can see why people like it though. The action is pretty intense sometimes and the show is gory. I think people will like it simply because it has those elements. I’d give the episode a 7 out of 10. 1. Bob says:

The investors had Finn killed because he was bailing out on them. But how did they know he was leaving? They must have had surveillance on him. But why would they have surveillance when Finn was making so much money for them? And even if they knew about his relationship with his mistress, they had no reason to suspect he was walking away from it all – unless they found out about his parallel operation, not that there’s any mention of them knowing that.
The thing just doesn’t hold water, unless I missed something. The dialogue is pretty indistinct sometimes.

    • ReelMockery says:

I agree. A lot was left out. The only thing I could think of is that Ed was talking to them behind Finn’s back? I am not sure this was ever confirmed though. I do agree that they could’ve touched on these details more. They kinda just picked some mysterious investors and passed the buck. Would’ve been more impactful to have placed the responsibility on one of the characters we knew from the beginning since we knew nothing about these investors and their involvement just didn’t seem to matter.
