FROM Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

Tether – Boyd (Harold Perrineau) is back in familiar territory as he inspects his rapidly aged image and newly slashed arm at the police station. He meets his son, Ellis (Corteon Moore) in the reception area to discuss his latest venture. When Ellis asks about Sara Myers (Avery Konrad), Boyd doesn’t respond. They both believe the Faraway Tree has transportive properties. Ellis accuses him of hiding the truth. Boyd asks where his anger comes from. Ellis informs him of Fatima’s (Pegah Ghafoori) breakdown which makes him believe she is losing herself. Boyd suggests becoming a special part of her that the horrors of their surroundings can’t take away. Ellis explains his and Kenny’s (Ricky He) plan to inspect the traps in town. Boyd tries to convince him to drop the plan but Ellis seems destined to gather wildflowers for his botanically-fond fiancé. Boyd says he should replace the wire ring he recently gave Fatima for something more sincere.

Diner Parking Lot – As the new arrivals unload their gear from the bus, Randall (AJ Simmons) and Donna continue to butt heads. Donna is none too happy with his gun. Boyd intervenes by introducing himself to the newcomers. Downplaying what he just witnessed, Donna claims it was only a minor disagreement over Randall’s gun. He informs Randall of the rule that prohibits residents from having a gun. Randall asks who made the rule. After explaining his position as the Sheriff, Boyd says if he wants to stay in town, he will need to give up the gun. Donna tells Matthias to escort the others to the Colony House.

He asks if the bus was chartered and what is in her bag. After explaining the charter, she tells him that she is offended by his second question. When he tries to ask more questions, a sharp pain from his fractured ribs forces him to call for help. Mari identifies herself as Marielle upon entering the room. Mari leaves in search of aspirin for Jim. The girl describes the bus breaking down in a town where her finance is supposed to be staying. Jim is surprised by the revelation.

She says other people allegedly dreamed of “The Brundles” before arriving in town. He asks if anyone ever studied the phenomenon. After claiming it drove some of them crazy, she says the results are always the same. They’re trapped with no explanation of how to get out.

In The Woods – Kristi, Ellis, and Kenny discuss Kelly’s bizarre circumstances. Ellis questions why she seems so normal while Kenny works on a strategy to get her back into town before it gets dark. She is honest with the girl about her condition.

From Review

For me, this show is getting better by the episode. Despite the complete lack of action, the suspense made the entire episode so pulse-pounding that it was like watching a wild chase scene. Although the episode was flawless, it was truly amazing to see the major players face adversity and how they chose to overcome it. Each character has obviously had to overcome a lot just to make it to this point, but this felt entirely different.

Just about every major character had a breakdown and had to overcome it using their individual preference. For me, the biggest slip of the episode was during the graveyard scene, which was so short and insignificant that it wasn’t even recapped. Boyd’s having a heart-to-heart with his last wife at her graveside and during the enigmatic rant, he reveals that they may have a wedding to plan for. It seems he is referring to Ellis and Fatima but the show never provides an answer. It was probably deduced from Ellis’ statement or behavior at the opening of the episode.

The episode deserves a 7. Get more From recaps here. Support Reel Mockery by clicking the link. Ask about our advertising offers by reaching out to customer support.
