For Her Sins Review

The second episode of For Her Sins follows in line with the previous episode. The performances are decent and the cinematography is good. By all accounts, the series is well made so it certainly gets the basics right. The issue is the story and the many coincidences that bring Emily’s plan together.

The characters would have to be robots to react the way Emily would want them to ten times out of ten. As a result, viewers will have to bend reality a lot to fully accept and enjoy what For Her Sins is trying to do. Furthermore, there is very little original content in the formulaic series so most viewers have seen this several times before.

Truthfully, the cast deserved a better script and shouldn’t take the blame for the series being so underwhelming. However, casual viewers who haven’t watched many Channel 5 dramas may enjoy it more than others. The second episode scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of For Her Sins can be found on Reel Mockery here.

By this time the show runners really expect viewers to hold their nose and just accept this outlandish scheme. I stopped here and will finish the last two tonight. After two episodes I was left feeling that I’ll be finishing it more out of obligation than desire. The tide has turned for Laura now that she’s found out that Emily is an imposter. Hopefully Laura twists the knife and turns the table. But she won’t. Emily will lie her way out of it thus dragging her dumb scheme on until 15 minutes are left in the final episode.

I swear I haven’t looked ahead but it seems pretty obvious that Laura was somehow responsible for Emily’s brother drowning. At least Emily believes so. I would love for this to become “hunter becomes the hunted” but it won’t. In the last 15 minutes Emily will become homicidal. Either Laura shoots her or Emily takes her own life. That’s my prediction. Good old Channel 5 delivers again. 👏

lol! Yep. You completely read my mind on this. I watched episode 3 today and you’re pretty much spot on. No one is that stupid to just feed what Emily is shoving down their throats. Despite everything, Laura just keeps eating it up making for a completely illogical experience. It is a good hate watch that would end nicely with a house with two bodies or more. Wouldn’t shed a tear if they just kill each other in the end, but we know that won’t happen.
