As the episode opens, Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan) cautiously walks through the house with her gun raised. She has a flashback of combat when she sees Shane Tessier (Emmett J Scanlan) holding Lily Burkett (Thea Taylor Morgan). She scolds him for not calling out to her. He says she was having a nightmare and Lily was screaming. She accuses him of judging her parenting skills. He assures her that is not what he was doing before asking if he can put Lily back to bed. Later, he urges her to see Dr. Wu (Kevin Shen) about the nightmares. She claims to be fine. He says the Burkett yacht that Andrew Burkett (Edward Harper Jones) died on was captained by Tommy Dark. She questions if Andrew’s suicide was reported as an accident. He tells her that Sami Kierce (Adeel Akhtar) told him about her seeing Joe Burkett (Richard Armitage) on nanny cam footage. He believes Kierce is a straight cop. She says the green shirt that Joe was wearing disappeared from their closet. He theorizes Joe faking his death but she refuses to believe it. They agree it is a prank.

Alexander Dosman (Joe Armstrong) tells Abby Walker (Danya Griver) that he and Claire Walker met in a bar in France and fell in love. He claims Claire only wanted to be friends and he needed space. He say they never saw or spoke to each other again. She shows him a photo of a pregnant Claire. He denies any knowledge of a baby. She hurries out of the apartment.

Nichole Butler (Jade Anouka) confronts Kierce about his missing the meeting. He hurriedly changes the subject. While they are talking, he feels dizzy. Later, Marty McGreggor (Dino Fetscher) and Kierce question Coach Phil Dawson (Craige Els) about his connected to  murder. Phil claims his motorcycle was stolen a month ago. Kierce asks why he never filed a police report when his motorcycle was involved in Joe’s murder. Marty places a mouse logo in front of him. Kierce suggests the motorcycle is only registered to Phil. When Phil tries to leave, Kierce raises his voice saying a witness saw his motorcycle in the park where Joe was murder. Phil asks if the witness was Maya. Marty says Abby is one of his football players. The interview is terminated after Phil declines to cooperate. Later, Kierce orders surveillance on PJ Dawson (Lawrence Hodgson Mullings) before leaving. Marty studies the CCTV footage from Kierce’s car crash when he notices the cat is missing. Kierce sees Phil get into a van with a Burkett Global Enterprises sponsorship logo. He calls Marty to let him know that he is going to follow the van.

Maya and Lily meet up with Abby and Daniel Walker (Daniel Burt) at the park. Abby asks her about Claire and Alexander. Eddie Walker (Marcus Garvey) approaches with ice cream. Maya tells him that Claire convinced Corey Rudzinski (Laurie Kynaston) to not release the audio, only the combat video. She says Claire knew what the audio would do to her, so she fed Corey information on the Burkett family. She claims to only trust him to care for Lily if something happens to her.

Kierce receives a call from Marty about Eddie’s alibi falling through. After the call ends, Kierce sees Phil speak to a guy before entering a building. Swallowing some pills, he follows Phil through the building and outside to a shed. Peeking through the window, he sees a photo of Phil receiving The Burkett Award Coach Of The year. He has an attack and collapses on the ground.

Maya receives a call from Judith Burkett (Joanna Lumley) asking her to bring Lily to Farnwood. Maya rushes to end the call when she sees Dr. Wu at her front door. She tries to get rid of him but he insists of talking to her. She explains her nightmares. He urges her to face up to her guilt when she receives a call from Oona Dark (Syreeta Kumar) saying there is something she needs to see. After the call ends, she tells Wu about seeing Joe in a green shirt. He says she may be exhibiting flashbacks, not hallucinations.

Daniel shows Abby a DNA Me document that reveals Claire traced her genealogy. She says it may be possible to locate Claire’s other baby with her DNA. Elsewhere, Oona shows Maya money transfers from Burkett Global to Tommy’s bank account. She says 9,000 pounds is transferred into his account monthly. Maya tells her that the Burkett family was bribing Tommy. Oona claims to have last seen six weeks ago. Later, Maya confronts Judith with the new evidence. Judith denies knowing Tommy. Irate, Maya accuses her of bribing Tommy ever since Andrew drowned. Judith raves about Andrew’s qualities. She claims Andrew was intoxicated when he fell into the water from the deck. Maya claims Joe said Andrew intentionally jumped into the water. Judith calls the claim “nonsense”. Maya questions why she is bribing Kierce. Judith claims Caroline Burkett (Hattie Morahan) is in a mental institution. When Maya leaves, Carolina watches her car drive away.

Phil leaves the facility. While Kierce remains passed out on the ground, he receives multiple missed calls from “The Child”. Elsewhere, Maya informs Corey of Tommy missing. He warns that they could be next. He asks if Shane has any idea what is on the combat helicopter audio. She questions why he really didn’t release it. He claims it was because Claire asked him not to but Maya does not buy it. She stresses the need to find Tommy before leaving.

Kierce wakes in a startle and calls for help. Elsewhere, Daniel and Abby access Claire Dare me account to learn they have a half-sibling in Connecticut. Eddie finds the photo of Claire pregnant.

Marty helps Kierce to his car. He grills him about his symptoms. He threatens to report Kierce if he drives her again. Kierce says the football team is sponsored by Burkett Global. Marty tells him about his date with Lance.

Gabby and Daniel tell Maya about their meeting with Alexander. Holding out the photo of a pregnant Claire, she asks if they have a sibling. Maya suggests they include Eddie in the conversation but they talk her out of it. She says their half-brother is about 19 years old. Elsewhere, Eddie punches Alexander in the face.

Marty gives Kierce CCTV photos of Eddie and a woman. Elsewhere, Louis (Charlie Cain) receives an alert that Claire viewed his DNA Me profile.

Someone activates Maya’s car alarm. She walks outside and disables the alarm. Shane can be seen hiding behind a wall.

 

Fool Me Once Review

Gabby and Daniel learn they have a half-brother in Connecticut. Claire got pregnant during a short relationship with Alexander but never told him. When Eddie also finds out about the pregnancy, he punches Alexander.

Kierce’s condition continues to deteriorate. He collapses while following Phil and has to ask Marty to come pick him up. Marty agrees to keep his secret but only if he never drives again.

Shane harasses Maya by setting off her car alarm. He finds his way into her house while she is asleep. She finds him holding Lily.
