EA Sports UFC 3 Video Game Review

Welcome UFC and PlayStation 4 fans, as I am here to review the UFC 3 video game for PlayStation 4. You have probably heard that UFC is one of the fastest growing sports in the business. Well, this might have been somewhat true, but it seems that the industry has come to a halt since McGregor VS Mayweather. I can truly say that I haven’t played a UFC game since PlayStation 2, so I can’t really comment about the other mechanics, but I can say that I truly believe UFC 3 is one of the most technical and diverse games, when it comes to the stand up aspect. Below, you will discover what I truly think about the UFC 3 game for PlayStation 4.

Defensive Mechanisms

One of the most exciting and amazing things about UFC 3 is the defensive aspect of the game. When I reviewed the other PlayStation games I heard a lot of talk about the parry system, but I can’t really say what I thought about this system, as I didn’t play the other games. However, playing UFC 3 I can say that I truly fell in love with the realistic aspect of the defensive system. I loved the fact that blocking punches, countering punches, and blocking legs kicks actually does damage to the opponent. You even have the ability to catch body kicks to knock someone out just like Silva did against Alves.

The defensive aspect of the game is without a doubt realistic as any game can get.

Exploring The Career Mode

Of course, the first thing that I delved into was the career mode. One thing that I liked about the career mode was that there wasn’t a fight that hardly went to the judge’s decision. If you are a UFC fan you will find that this is very rare, as most fights usually go to the decision. I only played the career mode up until the normal difficulty, but the opponents just seem to really stand in front of you for the most part. If you know just one or two combinations, you can easily slip your opponent’s punches and knock them down.

The Submission Game

The ground game of UFC 3 to me is really confusing and difficult. You have to block gates or advanced gates, which can be extremely difficult to understand. Of course, when an opponent is whelming you on the feet, taking it to the ground might seem like the most logical decision, but it can easily end in a defeat. If you are locked up in a submission it can be extremely difficult to escape, as you have to choose gates that your opponent isn’t choosing.

Getting Up Off The Ground

Getting up from a ground and pound is fairly easy, but stopping a takedown and submission can be somewhat difficult. When I played the game it seemed like I always ran out of stamina before my opponent. Even if I just stood on the feet and threw jabs, it seemed like I would be completely gassed before my opponent, which was somewhat frustrating.

At The End Of The Day

At the end of the day, I say that UFC 3 was a wonderful experience and I would without a doubt recommend it to any fight fan. The stand up is very realistic and in-depth, as you can time and block attacks. You will find that many people say the ground is overrated, but I found many times it save me from a defeated. However, you have to be extremely careful, as you can get submitted from a quick arm bar or triangle if you are not careful.
