At the beginning of the episode, we see a flashback to the time when Cassie (Sarah Greene) was stabbed. She gets a visit from Frank Mackey (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) at the hospital. Frank tells her that you only get 2 undercover jobs in Ireland because people start recognizing you. Frank wants her to take another job but Cassie isn’t interested. She wants to go to murder. She uses Frank’s advice to pass her psychiatric evaluation. After the intro, Daniel March (Sam Keeley) and the others drag Lexie down into the basement or cellar. They remove her shirt so they can spot the knife wound. Daniel realizes that something is wrong since the wound is old.

After that, Terence Andrews (Marcus Lamb) is interviewed by Sam O’Neill (Moe Dunford). Terence admits to knowing Jonathan. He is accused of being corrupt but he denies it by insisting people often resist progress. Terence denies having contact with Jonathan Devlin. Detective Quigley (Eugene O’Hare) and Sam try to convince Terence to repeat the threatening words so they can record it but he refuses without his lawyer being present. He is put in a cell for the night. Meanwhile, Jonathan Devlin (Peter McDonald) watches videos of Katy at home. Jonathan goes to the cemetery and finds Shane Waters (James Browne) in front of his daughter’s grave.

Jonathan tells Shane about Cathal threatening to kill him and Rob Reilly (Killian Scott) looking for him. Shane is convinced that they raised the darkness with what they did back in 1985. In the morning, we see that Rob has moved in with his mother. Daniel gets text messages from Frank on Lexie’s home so he becomes concerned. He is there when Cassie wakes up. He begins questioning her immediately and finds out her real name. He asks about the text messages and how he should respond. She tells him not to send anything back. Daniel doesn’t believe it. He leaves and returns with Abby (Vanessa Emme) at gunpoint. He continues threatening Abby until Cassie tells him what to send back to Frank.

After that, Daniel allows her to use the bathroom. He makes sure that she knows he has her gun. Back at the station, Garda Phelan (Ian Kenny) tells Rob that there has been a sighting of Shane. Rob picks a fight with O’Neill and encourages him to punch him. O’Neill doesn’t. He maintains his cool and walks away. Then, Phelan tells Rob more about the sightings of Shane Waters. Meanwhile, Cassie uses the bathroom and returns to the others. Rafe (Antonio Aakeel) lets everyone know that he has been drinking heavily. They head downstairs and Rafe begins discussing their plans. He suggests that they should leave Cassie and flee.

Before too long, Daniel wants to play Truth or Dare. During this time, Rob tries to track down Shane Waters. He finds out where Shane has been sleeping. On the walls, he finds writing on the walls and that scares him. He runs out to his car and decides to wait there for Shane. Sam and Quigley prepare to interview Terence again but that isn’t going to happen. O’Kelly (Conleth Hill) tells them that the case is no longer a murder case. Therefore, it has been moved elsewhere. Shane finally returns to Rob confronts him. Shane recognizes that Rob is Adam and Rob doesn’t like that. He tries to get Shane to shut up but he won’t. Rob beats him up and takes his jacket.

Cassie tells Daniel and that the others that she wants to set them against each other so they would tear Daniel apart. She tells them about Lexie’s pregnancy and Rafe being the father. She also explains that Lexie wasn’t her name and that she made up that name as a part of an undercover operation. Eventually, Daniel tells Justin (Charlie Kelly) to take Cassie into the kitchen and tell her the truth about Lexie’s death. Rob runs into Phelan and tells him to keep searched for Shane’s jacket. He takes the jacket out and burns it. Justin tells Cassie that Lexie wanted to leave. He followed her outside with a knife and she got stabbed by accident.

Cassie promises to speak out in court for Justin. In a flashback, we see that Justin met Lexie on a bus. He originally knew Cassie from her prior undercover job and thought the new Lexie was Cassie. Whoever Lexie was decided to run with it and started using the name. Justin decides that he wants to leave and go to the police station but Daniel doesn’t want that. Rafe becomes scared and runs out the front door. Daniel chases him until they’re ambushed by officers. Daniel runs back inside. Cassie gets the gun from Abby and goes after Daniel. She confronts him and they point guns at each other. Daniel tells Cassie that the world ends when doppelgangers see one another.

He tries to fire at her but ends up getting shot himself. Daniel dies and the others are arrested. Cassie tells Frank that she made a big mistake and nearly paid for it. Frank isn’t worried about it and recommends that she get creative with the report. After that, Rob has dreams about getting lost in the woods. Rob imagines that his friends are there so he chases them out of the apartment complex. His mother stops him from falling into the water. Back at his mother’s apartment, Rob is told that he should have never gone back to Knocknaree. Rob is asked what Cassie has to say about this. Rob confesses that she is gone so he doesn’t know. His mother says that Rob freezes people out.

She scolds Rob for not holding his dying father’s hand. This causes him to lash out at her for putting him in a boarding home. His mother doesn’t understand why he still worships those kids since they were vicious to him. She says that they were cruel and taunted Rob for being little. They left Rob in the woods and he would come home crying frequently. She suggests that Rob has remembered everything wrong. In the morning, Cassie returns to her apartment. She finds the messages from Rob and smashes her phone to the ground. Next, Jonathan is awoken by his family. They’ve returned because the caravan got too cold. Rosalind helps Jonathan clean up his mess.

Meanwhile, Rob goes into the woods. He remembers his friends wanting to see what they saw against Cathal and his buddies. His friends make fun of him and taunt the others. Rob steps out of the woods and visits Dr. Mark Hanley (Jonathan Forbes). They agree to share a drink. Neither found what they were looking for but Mark says that they tried. Rob eats a cookie Mark gives him. He remembers Dr. Cooper (Ned Dennehy) saying that Katy ate a chocolate biscuit. Mark says that Damien always brought the biscuits. Rob decides to search Damien’s property. They find a car in a shed. Rob is convinced that Damien used the car to move Katy’s body. After that, they head inside and speak with Damien’s mother.

She tells them that they will not find anything in there and that they’re making a mistake. Rob says that they’ll do their best not to disturb her. Rob tells his partner that Katy’s clothes were washed and dried so she had to be kept somewhere. They decide to check the laundry room. They use the special light and find blood and a handprint on the wall. Damien (Jonny Holden) steps through the door seconds later.

 

Dublin Murders Review

Is this really how Dublin Murders is going to end? I am going to be brutally honest here because I’ve been fairly lenient with the show thus far. Sadly, it has gone downhill since the first episode. The story has become unbelievable and each episode has been tediously slow. The Cassie storyline hasn’t been interesting in the least. Are we really expected to believe this stuff? I also do not like the over-the-top dialogue from some of the characters.

O’Kelly is always talking about peckers or wanking or something. It feels like some of this stuff is thrown in there for the shock factor. I haven’t read the books and I wouldn’t bother. If the show has become this bad, I can’t imagine that the books are any better. I’ll finish the last episode but I hope this show doesn’t get another season. It really doesn’t deserve one.
