Clean Sweep Review

Shelly remembers touching a Bible in Charlie’s hotel room. A Bible is marked as evidence in the investigation. She utilizes the excuse to deliver food to the police station to access Jason’s office. After switching out Charlie’s Bible, she burns it.

The housekeeper on duty when Charlie was murdered becomes the key witness in the case. She identifies a woman, “wh**e” who visited Charlie multiple times, including the day he was murdered.

Political candidate, Rory Lynch is the last person to text Charlie before Shelly shoots him. He asks if Shelly had been located. Discovering Charlie’s murder, he cuts the SIM card in the phone he utilized to communicate with him.

Caitlin starts her period in school. While hiding an ice cream wrapper in the trash bin, she discovers pieces of Charlie’s photo. She tapes the pieces together to reveal a picture of Charlie, Maggie, and another man. She conceals the photo from the others.

Jason and Fiona reveal their affair.

The writing supports the engaging plot with a few minor discrepancies. The acting, including the younger cast, are superior supporting characters. The show is yet to reveal a lot about Shelly’s past. It seems her father was abusive, more so toward her brother. Jason and the kids believe she was raised in foster homes but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The role Rory Lynch plays in her past is questionable.

Shelly covering her tracks is a bit too easy. It is likely, Charlie’s Bible would have already been processed by the forensics team or at least sent to be processed. Either way, it wouldn’t be laying around Jason’s office, instead, it would have been locked in the evidence room.

The scene in which Caitlin starts her menstrual cycle is totally blown out of proportion. The show is an insult to all girls who have found themselves in such a compromising predicament. Every girl responds differently to their first cycle but most can honestly say they never wiped menstrual blood on their notebook paper while their classmates stared in astonishment.
