Class Of 07 Season 1 Episode 8 Finale Recap

The Tribe Has Spoken – As the finale of Class of ’07 begins, Zoe (Emily Browning) and Amelia (Megan Smart) run outside where Sandy is screaming at the class because they’ve stolen her raft. 18 days later, Zoe tells Amelia that breakfast is ready. Zoe tries to cheer her up, but Amelia isn’t having it. She says it might take them a minute although Amelia thinks they might already be dead. Zoe goes back inside to tell the others that Amelia is like a phone without a signal. Once Laura (Rose Flanagan) gets sick again, Renee (Emma Horn) suggests they discuss it again. Zoe doesn’t want to because they just need to hang in there until the new crops come in.

They argue about it as Zoe says people can survive for ages on barely anything. Renee thinks their key organs will fail and their bodies will shut down. The women begin discussing the possibility of eating someone. Zoe asks how they’d decide who they’re going to eat. Sister Bicky (Debra Lawrance) thinks they can hold a tribal council. As the others leave to do that, Bicky insists she was only joking. Amelia complains about the possum before Saskia (Caitlin Stasey) brings her therapist so she can talk to it. Amelia knows Zoe put her up to it. She takes the mop and makes them leave. Then, she uses the mop to try to shut up the possum.

Genevieve (Claire Lovering) asks if they’re planning to vote for her. Zoe says no one is voting for anyone. Zoe approaches Sandy (Sarah Krndija) outside and finds that she fixed her boat. She asks Sandy whether she knows where she can get some antidepressants out there. Sandy tells her about Scuba City where they’re looting everything beneath the surface. It involves scuba diving instructors and their tour boats. Sandy believes they can help with the antidepressants. However, anyone she knew who couldn’t pay back Scuba City ended up drowned. Sandy wants her kid and Teresa to experience what she did out there.

Later, Sister Bicky offers to be eaten by the others because she is older and most likely to go to heaven. She also found a few examples of ritual sacrifice in the Old Testament. They refuse to eat her. Instead, they agree to let her run the tribal council. After agreeing to do it, Bicky asks Zoe how she feels about the vote. Zoe says she is a target because she thinks this is stupid. Amelia goes into the attic to confront the possum. Outside, Bicky begins counting the votes. Teresa gets upset when she received three votes. She complains about how she has cleaned and cooked for them for months. Teresa (Sana’a Shaik) agrees to raise Sandy’s baby to save herself.

They’ll stay on land and go to Renee for weekly checkups. The final vote comes to two for Zoe and two for Megan (Chi Nguyen). Saskia interrupts Amelia during her hunt to tell her they need her to break the tie. When Amelia refuses, Saskia reminds her that her party screwed them over so she needs to come and vote. Once Amelia makes it outside, Zoe tries to convince her that it is about choosing no one. Amelia admits that makes sense to her. Even though humans can survive, she isn’t sure they should. Amelia claims they don’t matter. Zoe says she does because she is the whole reason Amelia came here. Zoe pleads with her to choose her and save her.

Amelia asks if she knows she isn’t the girl who gets chosen. She doesn’t choose Zoe or Megan because it is going to be over for them soon enough anyway. Then, the girls begin arguing over whether Zoe or Megan should be eaten. Zoe reminds everyone she is the only one who can work the radio and that is more important than ever now that they know people are out there. The women begin changing their vote to Megan. Bicky declares that Megan has the highest number of votes. Tegan curses the women as they leave. In the morning, Zoe speaks on the radio. After giving out the coordinates, she asks someone to come save them from themselves. When Renee checks on Sandy’s baby, Teresa begins sobbing. Sandy is surprised it is working for her.

Teresa explains this is all she ever wanted, but she had to talk herself out of it months ago since she believed it would never happen. Sandy offers to sail away after she delivers the baby because no one wants her here. She thinks she is a lone wolf that belongs at sea now. Teresa says she is a psycho, but they want her to stay there. There is no one else she’d want to raise her kid with than her best friend. Amelia manages to trap the possum. She takes it outside and gets distracted by Megan playing violin. The possum escapes and runs up a tree. Amelia watches as Tegan comforts Megan who cries. Later, Amelia approaches everyone to volunteer to be sacrificed instead.

She explains that she is done and lost hope. Zoe knocks her out and says they don’t want to give her a chance to chicken out. They either do it now or they don’t do it at all. Zoe says she is going to take care of this for all of them. She tells the others to go inside and set the table. Amelia wakes up on a bike on the boat and asks Zoe what is going on. Zoe wants her to go to Scuba City so she can get what she needs. Amelia complains about Zoe doing that. Zoe thinks they’re lucky because many people out there are completely alone. She says this thing they call friendship is the only thing they have left. Zoe argues it is a privilege to have someone else to do all this stuff with.

When Amelia admits she regrets the fringe, Zoe says it is good that she is feeling things. Amelia wants to keep feeling things. Zoe sends her away on the boat and asks her to come back. Laura hears someone talking to them on the radio. She passes out when they learn that boys are coming to the school. Amelia yells for Zoe to join her on the boat because the others will kill her. Bicky joins the others as they run to the edge and see Brendo (Harry Greenwood) and his boat coming towards them. The women aren’t eager to let them come ashore. Zoe and Amelia ride into the sea as the episode ends.

Class Of ’07 Review

The finale of Class of ’07 was interesting enough to potentially warrant another season, but the script could be tightened up a bit. The humor isn’t necessarily the highlight of the series because a lot of it just doesn’t work and ends up coming across as annoying. The best aspect of the show was the relationship development that was clearly evident in the finale.

The soundtrack was also fun most of the time. Really, there is a lot that could happen in additional episodes. The question is whether fans will be content with what Class of ’07 offered in the first series. The season was really a roller coaster with some episodes that stood out as being better than others.

I still personally enjoyed Creamerie more, but both shows are for niche audiences so the future is uncertain for Class of ’07. Viewers who enjoy the crude humor in Class of ’07 will certainly like the series a lot more than I did. For others, it can be a quick binge to find out whether they want to stick with it. The finale scores a 6 out of 10. Recaps of Class of ’07 are available on Reel Mockery here.
