Class Of 07 Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

The People Vs. Saskia – As this episode of Class of ’07 begins, Teresa (Sana’a Shaik) suggests shaving off Saskia’s hair as punishment. Amelia (Megan Smart) and Zoe (Emily Browning) come out to ask what the heck is going on. Genvieve (Claire Lovering) calls it justice. When Genevieve says they’ve convicted Saskia of Sandy’s murder, Amelia argues that isn’t possible without a trial. Genevieve, Renee (Emma Horn), and the others agree that they’ll have a trial. Before the trial begins, Zoe throws a note to Genevieve pleading with her not to snitch. Genevieve comes in and says the evidence will show that Saskia killed Cassandra Cooper-Reid.

She shows everyone the farewell letter supposedly written by Sandy although it is riddled with Australian spelling. Then, she shows them the bag and says there was an eyewitness who saw Saskia at the scene of the crime. Amelia reminds Genevieve that Saskia is going to need a lawyer. She offers to defend Saskia herself since everyone deserves a fair trial. Genevieve assigns Laura (Rose Flanagan) to be the judge for the trial. When everyone leaves for a break, Zoe stuffs the note in her pants. Outside, Saskia tells Zoe that she felt relief last night because she wouldn’t have to be this person anymore. Zoe wants to create a story about what happened, but Saskia says they should just let it play out.

Amelia comes out to ask Saskia about Phoebe blackmailing her. She explains that she asked for a b!tch and she sees what toll it took on Saskia now. Saskia admits it freaked her out how easily it came back. Amelia thinks Saskia should remain quiet and let her do the talking. Tegan (Bernie Van Tiel) and Megan (Chi Nguyen) try to make alcohol. They get frightened when they see someone walking past the window again. Megan is convinced that Sister Bicky (Debra Lawrance) is haunting them. Zoe tries to write the note again without the Australian English this time. Phoebe (Steph Tisdell) comes over to remind Zoe that she saw her that night. She could say that she only saw Saskia though.

She wants electric blue by lunchtime. Zoe agrees since she doesn’t have much of a choice anyway, but she doesn’t know what electric blue means. Megan is asked to read the letter in court. Genevieve is surprised when she finds out that the letter doesn’t have Australian spelling anymore. Once Megan and Tegan flee the courtroom, Amelia and Genevieve argue over whether the note should be thrown out as evidence. Once Laura says Amelia beat Genevieve, the latter decides to call her eyewitness. Zoe shows Phoebe the bottle got for her. As a result, Phoebe claims she only saw Saskia that night. Amelia suggests Phoebe saw nothing except a woman walking through the school grounds.

Amelia points out that she found Sandy’s bag weeks ago. When she asks why Phoebe didn’t say anything when they were looking for Sandy, Phoebe says Sandy was annoying and it was peaceful without her. Phoebe admits to finding the bag, taking it to Saskia, and making a deal with her. As everyone turns against Phoebe, Genevieve blurts out that this is about what a b!tch Saskia is. Amelia believes that is the real reason they’re all here. She asks Laura to dismiss the case on the basis that it is nothing more than a personal vendetta against Saskia. Genevieve admits it is personal. She reveals that Saskia heard her doing a poop at school and she never let her live it down.

Everyone laughs until Genevieve says it isn’t funny. She asks if they know what fecal impaction does to a teenage girl’s bowels. Genevieve says she suffered because Saskia thought it’d be funny to make her a prisoner in her own body. Amelia is sorry that happened to her, but Saskia isn’t on trial for being a bad person. Others begin speaking out against Saskia and the things she did to them. Laura eventually regains control of the courtroom when everyone goes to lunch. Amelia tells Saskia that she took Zoe from her and she isn’t sure she ever got over that. Meanwhile, Megan and Tegan get drunk in the chapel when they see the Sister again.

Phoebe gives the bottle to Renee for her Wednesday night ritual. Zoe is shocked when Amelia calls her to the stand. She freaks out and struggles to answer questions because she is burping so much. Zoe explains she needs a minute because the last time she was on the stand a judge made her decide which parent she wanted to live with. When the others begin talking about throwing Saskia off the bell tower, Zoe interrupts to say they’ve all benefited from Saskia being a b!tch. She says they wouldn’t be here having this trial if Saskia hadn’t kept them alive long enough to do it. Saskia wants to say something since she believes it is time for the truth to come out.

Tegan finds the private bathroom that Genevieve has been using all this time. They also discover evidence that Genevieve knew all about it. Zoe thinks about setting sail because she is worried about the trial. She can’t when her boat falls apart. Instead, she returns to the courtroom where Saskia agrees that high school really messes people up. Saskia confesses to pushing Sandy out to sea. She tells everyone about her relationship with Mr. Garrity. She believes it would be easier if he was a monster. Saskia explains that being back there has made her very angry so she took it out on all of them. Megan and Tegan interrupt to tell everyone about Genevieve’s secret toilet.

Teresa suggests they should shave both of their heads. The women take them outside to cut their hair. Amelia and Zoe stand back and watch it unfold. Sister Bicky comes outside and yells at the girls before she is knocked out by Tegan who thinks she is a ghost.

Class Of ’07 Review

The fifth episode of Class Of ’07 had some decent points since it told viewers more about Saskia, her past troubles, and how she abused the others in high school. However, it is starting to feel like the series doesn’t have an interwoven plot since each episode focuses on something entirely different than the one before it.

This episode in particular was pretty chaotic with all the screaming and over-the-top humor that doesn’t always work. In some cases, the characters and their outlandish attitudes can be very annoying. One has to wonder whether Class of ’07 is going to get on track or remain inconsistent for the rest of the reason.

The series really needs to find some purpose because the humor isn’t working out through five episodes. This one scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of Class Of ’07 can be found on Reel Mockery here.
