James takes Ella to the ambulance. Before they leave, Chief Superintendent Charlie Woods (Jade Harrison) rushes in to check on Ella.

Once they’re alone, Kelby tries to tell Charlie what happened. Charlie tells him to go to the station and write his report. She’ll get the cyber crime unit to check the computer for any evidence. Mark explains they’re trying to find something for her mom’s birthday. Martha tells Anne how she feels. She explains that their wedding day should be about what they want. Martha woke up this morning and it didn’t feel like her wedding day. Humphrey admits she has a point because they talked about something small with a handful of people. Martha says they didn’t say anything because it didn’t seem like a good time with everything else. Anne alleges they thought she had been humiliated by a man. She thought she needed to step up because the father of the bride isn’t around. It was about Richard in a way. Anne says she realized what an amazing man Martha’s father was thanks to Richard. She wanted to honor his memory by making sure his little girl had the wedding she deserved.

Martha asks if they can just scale it back a little. Anne says they can do whatever they want before leaving. Martha thinks they should let her calm down. Esther questions why the alarm didn’t go off. Margo learns that the two thieves have been at it before in other areas. They use a Wi-Fi blocker outside the houses to mess up the Internet. Then, they knock on doors and offer to fix it. As a result, doorbell cameras can’t capture their pictures. Margo believes their secret weapon is Kelby. Meanwhile, Kelby speaks to Ella to get descriptions of the suspects. Ella realizes she’s not much help. Kelby believes it’s helpful though. Charlie enters and learns what Kelby is doing. He tells her he was the attending officer so he believes he should carry on with the investigation. Ella points out she hasn’t seen a single person from the cyber unit.

Someone knocked on her door but she didn’t answer it. She says she saw him drive off and he looked like the bloke in Coronation Street, Corrie. At the station, Esther asks Margo to try to find out who’d want to buy the statuette. Margo admits they don’t know much about Mark Wisdom. Kelby returns and tells them about the car driven by someone who looked like Peter Barlow. The other one was bald with red ears. Humphrey asks Martha how this is going to work since it’s their wedding day. She believes they’ll think of something. Once Hannah leaves, Martha decides to look for her mom. Humphrey takes Ryan with him. Humphrey mentions her hair and makeup. Martha says he’ll have to take her as she is. Margo gives Esther a list of dealers and says the checks for the cleaners came back clean. Kelby finds out that there are 37 vehicles matching the description registered in the area.

Esther reminds him the thieves may not be local. Humphrey speaks to Ryan about losing his granddad. He tells Ryan that Hannah thinks his mom should be home in a few weeks. He should think of this as a holiday. Ryan wants to sleep on the boat. Kelby finds a camera that may help him. Humphrey takes Ryan to the station. Esther tells Humphrey everything that’s been going on. Humphrey looks at the file. Kelby returns and says one of the shops had a security camera. He believes he’s found the car. Kelby ran the number plate and got an ANPR hit. It’s parked in the pay and display car park on the front. He wonders if he should call the HUB. Margo says no. She’ll get a car to meet him there. Esther learns that the period recovers 48 hours until lunchtime today. The video shows the museum when Mark and Douglas leave.

Kelby and another officer keep an eye on the suspect vehicle. Esther and Humphrey find nothing because the thieves entered through the rear of the building. They see Esther speaking to Paris outside the museum. Humphrey says it’d be easier to tamper with the alarm if you worked there or your boyfriend did. PC Billy Blake (Sunil Patel) continues bothering Kelby until the suspects show up. Billy calls for backup and the men run. Kelby chases one of them. Kelby eventually tackles him. Humphrey thinks they should consider that the statuette wasn’t stolen. He questions what Douglas didn’t see. He suggests Mark hid the statuette. The alarm wasn’t triggered because no one actually entered the museum. They went back that night to force open the door and make it look like a robbery.

When Paris visited the museum, she took the statuette. The security video shows her carrying something out of the museum. Margo reminds Humphrey that he’s getting married. Martha still can’t find her mother. Humphrey tells Ryan about the wedding and asks him to be his best man. Paris and Mark are arrested. Humphrey changes before getting a call from Martha. He meets her and learns that Anne canceled everything. Anne arrives and says they can arrange it all again for another day. Esther, Zoe, and Margo approach them to find out what’s going on. When Kelby joins them, Anne says the wedding has only been postponed. Kelby confirms the thieves have been apprehended. Everyone decides to get something to eat. The statuette is returned.

Beyond Paradise Review

The finale of Beyond Paradise had some bright spots near the end, but there wasn’t anything spectacular here. Kelby has become the most interesting character thanks to his persistence and humor. Humphrey is also good although it was easy to see that the wedding would never happen.

The investigations were just okay possibly because the episode was trying to juggle so much simultaneously. For the entire series to build up the wedding and child fostering, those storylines really didn’t go anywhere. Even when they did, they were a little bland. Still, the episode was easily watchable and even enjoyable in places.

Truthfully, I had forgotten about the finale of Beyond Paradise and watched it very late. That probably says something about the overall quality of the series. While it’s mostly enjoyable, there’s nothing memorable here that sets Beyond Paradise apart from the countless clones and reiterations. The finale scores a 6 out of 10.
