Harold Jensen (Martin Henderson) is greeted by the Mayor (Mike Pniewski), who wants to talk about the shooting. The Mayor insists the man Harold shot was carrying the gun, which killed the chief. With that, he makes Harold Captain of the police force. Rachel explores her mother’s barn getaway and finds a strange journal. Once he enters his new office, Edna (Helen Ingebristen) passes Harold a note, which instructs him to call the Warden of the prison.

Harold calls the warden, who offers to arrange a visit for Harold. As it turns out, Harold pays a visit to Jack Kopus (Tom Sizemore). Jack insists that Warren owns him 20 grand for keeping his mouth shut. Jack tries to make a deal for pictures of his son and wife for the information. Harold agrees he’ll get the pictures and threatens Jack with general population, if he doesn’t have anything worthwhile. Jean Jensen (Julianne Nicholson) prepares to go to a dance. Jean reveals she hasn’t had any symptoms for two days. Phillip pays a visit to Sky (Lisa Bonet) and her grandmother (Stella Doyle). Phillip questions Sky about Levi.

Sky reveals she is interested in taking over as chief. Lieutenant Aschell (Griff Furst) interviews Junior, who was caught driving a stolen survey vehicle. Chief Levi enters with his attorney and gets Junior out of trouble. During the car ride out, Junior and Levi disagree over Levi’s decisions and the casino.

Griff Furst

Phillip pays a visit to Harold, but finds Jean. Harold arrives in the nick of time and Phillip tells him about the connection between the dead guy and an Indian tribe from Connecticut. Of course, the meeting gives Harold the perfect opportunity to ask Phillip for pictures. Marie catches Phillip taking the photos and they reminisce about old times. Marie insists Chief Levi is someone, who can get the job done. It is revealed she left Phillip with Jack, in order to run off with Levi. Phillip visits Junior.

Mayor The Red Road

The pair discuss Levi, before they head into town together. Phillip purchases a refrigerator for his home and Harold arrives to help them carry it in. He also collects the pictures. Harold and Junior both ask, where Phillip got the money to purchase the fridge. Harold returns to Jack with the pictures. Jack begins to speak about the auto plant and their paint sludge. He reveals that the cops were paid to look the other way, as they pumped the sludge into the mine shafts. He suggests the only reason they stopped was because they ran out of room, after filling up the entire mountain.

Jack Kopus Prison The Red Road

Harold questions about Warren saying he killed his wife. Jack suggests the poison in the mountain will eventually slide down into the valley. Harold and Jean join the dance, where they run into Jean’s dad, David Rogers (Mike Farrell). Rachel attempts to get alcohol from her father, but is denied. David and Harold chat about Jean’s symptoms. David insists his chat with Jean might’ve helped. Harold questions David about the mob’s contract with the city in the 90’s and the sludge being pumped into the mines. David makes excuses for Warren insisting he killed his wife.

The Red Road Rachel Overdose

Harold questions why David is really moving, before he is pulled away by Sylvia (Irene Ziegler). Jean is shown in the bathroom, where she finds Rachel having a seizure. When questioned by the EMTs, Rachel admits she took her mother’s antipsychotic medications. Back at home, Rachel is questioned about her decision and she says she only wants to be with Junior, but knows she can’t. She admits to reading Jean’s journal and insists those things cannot happen to her. She says she never wants to be like her mother.

Jason Momoa Phillip Kopus

That night, Phillip returns to the sacred burial grounds to collect more money. While there, he examines the picture of himself and Mike, before burying it. Phillip takes some of the money and delivers it to Sonya (Kara Michele Wilder). She goes inside to get something and returns with a gun. She fires and insists Phillip is responsible for Mike’s death. Phillip escapes, but gets shot in the shoulder. When he goes outside, he finds arrows all around his door and money scattered everywhere. It appears someone found his stash. He returns to Junior, who confirms he followed Phillip and found the money.

Phillip finally tells him that he found the money near Mac’s body and blames everything on Junior’s father. Junior promises to stay away from Levi. Marie discovers Sonya’s baby outside of her door. Junior approaches Levi and his bodyguards. Levi gives him a truck, which is equipped with a police scanner. The pair drive off, as the episode ends.

Review

Another solid episode of The Red Road, which is bringing us closer to a conclusion, which will most likely be violent. The mystery continues to build, as new revelations are uncovered. There was plenty to like about the episode, including Jack’s information, Sonya’s attack and Junior rebelling against Phillip. Of course, the drama surrounding the Jensen family keeps escalating as well. All in all a good episode, which deserves a 7.5 out of 10.
