Night Terror – As the fourth episode of Wolf begins, young Jack Caffrey (Oscar Coleman) has nightmares about the neighbor. In the present, Jack (Ukweli Roach) watches the video of Bones stabbing the girl at the rave. While sending it to himself, he asks Bethany why he hasn’t found any other videos like that online. She admits there aren’t any because they have to surrender their phones when they went to the raves. Bethany can only tell him that Bones was in his 30s with white skin and dark hair. Honey (Sacha Dhawan) and Molina (Iwan Rheon) wonder if Minnet Kable is messing with them.
He is a maniac who filleted two teenagers. Molina says they did that too although it was with a deer. He suggests asking the boss what to do. Honey says no because he can’t think they’re messing this up. He makes Molina promise not to contact the boss before saying he wants lots of videos of the family being tortured. Honey suggests one video will have to suffice given the circumstances. Molina is told to reattach the landline. Jack takes the video to DI Maia Lincoln (Sian Reese-Williams) who remembers the snakes. He wants her to formally reopen the donkey pitch investigation, but she doesn’t get to make that call.
Maia asks if he knows there were complaints in his neighborhood around the time of his brother’s abduction. She goes on to say kids thought they were seeing things in the middle of the night. It ended up being nothing so nobody even wrote a report. Maia doesn’t want to tell him anything else about the complaints. Prody (Ciaran Joyce) catches up with him later to see if he spoke to the witness. Jack shows him the video to see if he can remember anything about Bones. Prody doesn’t remember anything and can’t recall the name Bones either. He reveals that Sophie’s mother called 999 a couple of weeks before the murders.
She claimed it was domestic abuse from Sophie. Prody explains that her mom said Sophie became impossible and bullied her with scary movie pranks. DI Maia Lincoln and Gareth didn’t think anything of it. Later, Jack reads the file and imagines Sophie’s mom (Bethan Harvey) speaking to police about her daughter’s behavior. Molina struggles to get the landline phone working and Honey won’t let him use his mobile phone. Molina wonders what the family did to the boss who said they won’t want to report it once they find out who he is. Molina thinks the boss is a nutter but he pays well. Jack visits Colonel Frink (Karl Johnson) who says Bear is getting better.
Jack reminds him that he has to find the dog’s owner before their conversation turns to Sophie. Frink says it was like Sophie was a shell of herself in those final weeks. She had been vomiting at school and felt nauseous just walking in the mornings. Although Frink knew about the horror film things with her mom, he never asked Sophie about it. He doesn’t remember her mentioning any friends or anyone named Bones. Frink thinks he should be talking to Emily since they did everything together. Jack returns to Emily to ask her about the raves and Bones. She insists she doesn’t know anything. Max told her that what he is doing is basically harassment.
Honey gets paranoid and looks around outside. He gets a signal on his phone before calling Lily because he needs to hear her voice. He learns that his agent called after he received a callback for the dishwashing advert. She is getting tired of these marketing trips. Honey insists this trip is a big one and they need money. After listening to her, Honey says this is his last marketing trip. Honey goes back inside and tells Lucia (Annes Elwy) that he is going to take her to the bathroom. She accuses him of being fake and not dangerous. Honey leaves her cuffed and says she can urinate on herself. Matilda (Juliet Stevenson) yells at Lucia to tell her it is going to be alright.
Jack speaks to Robbie about Sophie throwing up regularly. When they talk about Maia, Robbie insists she is a tough lady with a sweet side. Jack learns that Sophie had antidepressants in her system at the time of her death. When you first start them, it is common to throw up. Robbie says her GP didn’t prescribe them but someone did. She stopped taking her prescribed antihistamines and started taking antidepressants in secret. Jack catches up with Max (Luke Rhodri) to ask him about the raves. Max claims no one knew Bones’s real name. After Jack tells him about the allegations by Sophie’s mom, Max says she was a menopausal maniac.
He says she probably got hysterical over nothing. Max tells Jack that it isn’t his fault the police were too stupid to understand what they were looking at. He won’t tell him what that is supposed to mean. Jack takes the drunk girl home. Molina and Honey go outside to see if they can find out where the cable is damaged. Once they find it, Honey begins complaining about the smell again. They’re approached by Louise (Jill Baker) who lives nearby. They tell Louise that they’re photographers and Kiernan said the home was empty. Matilda tries to get Louise’s attention. She throws her shoe at the window hoping Louise will see it.
Molina tells Louise that it is the dog. When he invites her in for pancakes, she says they’ll have to do it another time. Louise notices the smell. Jack tells the girl to call her mother because she is worried about her. When he receives a call from a private number, he stops near Matilda’s house. Back inside the house, Honey complains about Molina inviting the neighbor inside. Molina goes on to tell him about Kiernan who is the older brother and away in China on business. He read the paperwork the boss gave them. Honey didn’t get any paperwork so he questions how much they’re being paid for this job. Once they exchange pay rates, Molina tells Honey that he is sorry.
Honey confronts Matilda and laughs after grabbing her shoe. He thinks she likes it when people think she is stupid. Honey asks if she knows all three of them will die in this house. When the time comes, he is going to make her decide who gets to go first. Oliver (Owen Teale) begins yelling to ask what he is doing to her. Honey tells Oliver he really hates him although the ankle thing was an accident. He knocks a dresser over on his ankle. Jack speaks to Hugo’s father Richard who admits they were too lenient on him. Hugo was a good kid unlike their other kid Theo who was always a problem. Jack asks whether there were any changes in Hugo’s behavior.
He reveals that he cheated on his wife so they were divorcing and it hit Hugo hard. He started planting pornography around the house. It was violent, awful pornography. Jack looks at the spot where the kids used to have bonfires. He returns to Maia because he wants to know what she knows about his brother. Maia reveals that there were three calls from three different houses in the area. They were spread out over several months. Nobody wrote a report because there was nothing to write about. Parents called after their kids said they had seen a man in their bedrooms sitting on the windowsill.
They said he was watching them while they slept. Jack had the same experience after Ewan was taken. He questions whether they were nightmares or the man was really in his home. It looks like they’re going to have sex. As Jack leaves, he watches a video of Emily talking about her transphobic feelings. He approaches Max to say Emily just posted a picture online that was taken two weeks before the Donkey Pitch murders. As Jack gets physical with him, he reminds him that a picture was sent around the school. His solicitor jumped in quickly when he was questioned about it. Max admits the picture is Hugo and he sent it.
Jack realizes Hugo was either sleeping or dead before leaving. He imagines the hazmat suit guy taking pictures of Hugo while he is asleep. Jack also imagines that the same guy was creating the pranks in Sophie’s house. Veronica (Kezia Burrows) calls Jack using her mother’s phone. She went to his house to get stuff and found his front door open. Jack rushes back to his house. Honey and Molina find out that someone has cut the landline from inside the house. Molina confesses there wasn’t a deer carcass. Instead, it was just a bucket and what was already in it. Oliver manages to write a note in hopes of getting help.
Molina and Honey go outside to see what the deer’s last meal was. Oliver gives a description of the two kidnappers. Honey finds out that the deer ate meat even though they don’t eat meat. They find a dental filling so Honey suspects they’re dealing with human intestines. Oliver believes the men have killed them if someone is reading his note. Jack makes it home and begins looking around. He sits down in the bedroom and looks through the window at the neighbor’s house. In the morning, he gets a call about the prison visit he requested. Jack says he’ll be there on Thursday. He noticed a present behind him.
Wolf Review
The fourth episode of Wolf did a better job of pushing the story forward although it probably could’ve been slimmed down to four episodes. After all, this episode had a lot of filler scenes that were replaying some of the same things again. That isn’t necessarily an issue because those scenes are well done and the team has picked some great scenery through four episodes.
The story has really sold the show considering it is easy to look forward to what is coming next. A lot of people are going to be turned off by Wolf’s comedic style and over-the-top villains. Viewers who enjoy it or manage to accept it for what it is may find Wolf’s story intriguing enough to stick with it for six episodes.
Despite a lack of connection to the characters, I am eager to see what happens to everyone involved. This episode scores a 6 out of 10. Recaps of Wolf can be found on Reel Mockery here. Find out how to support our independent site at this link. Learn more about advertising on Reel Mockery here.

I began to suspect that Honey and Molina were actors but dismissed the idea when I realized it was the plot of Malibu’s Most Wanted.
You are right in saying that it’s set up now so viewers are actually excited to see how it all comes together. A lot of pieces to the puzzle that need to be put in their final place. Well done BBC.
That is actually a good theory. The series is pretty good at juggling both storylines and making them interesting while also leaving so many clues. At first, I thought Molina and Honey scenes might’ve been flashbacks. It makes it more exciting that this isn’t the case though. I’ve watched episode 5 now and certain things have been revealed but I think it’d be impossible to say for certain what is going on. Hope the finale can make sense of everything and end with a bang. Good stuff so far though.
