At the beginning of the episode, Julie Mugford (Alexa Davies) watches as an antique dealer buys good from Jeremy (Freddie Fox) and Brett Collins (Alfie Allen). Brett questions the man about buying the medals but Jeremy says he’d rather keep them. Brett manages to sell them anyways. Brett puts the money in Jeremy’s pocket and flirts with him. Julie doesn’t seem thrilled with what is going on. DS Stan Jones (Mark Addy) returns to the lab and confronts DI Ron Cook (Andrew Frame) about the test results on the silencer. While the preliminary report found that it was Sheila’s blood, the new test says maybe not. It is possible to get the same results when two blood groups are mixed together so it might’ve been the blood of the grandparents.

Cook believes it might still be Sheila’s blood but he can’t be positive. Next, Stan consults with Mick Clark (Scott Reid) about the new testing. They discuss Sheila removing the silencer because she couldn’t shoot herself. They also notice a spare phone on the counter and Jeremy said it was a spare. Stan takes the phone and heads upstairs where he plugs it into a jack. They question Jeremy’s timeline of events and the phone call. They suspect Nevill was shot before he called Jeremy and that doesn’t seem possible. Stan is told that he needs to tell Taff but he intends to go to CS George Harris (Sean Gilder). Stan meets with the regional superintendent after that.

Stan tells him that he suspects things are going awry with the Bamber investigation. He is questioned about his theory that the suicide had been faked. He refutes Taff’s theory and says he has closed his mind to alternative scenarios. George says he spoke with Taff and told him about the investigation. George sides with Taff and believes Stan has been causing trouble from the start. Seconds later, we see Ann (Gemma Whelan), Peter (Oliver Dimsdale), and Peter (Richard Goulding) waiting for someone. Stan enters and tells them that the funerals are going ahead since the tests on the silencer was inconclusive. Ann isn’t happy so she gives Stan a piece of her mind before he leaves.

Marcus (Tom Christian) and the others meet up with Brett and Jeremy. Brett toasts the engaged couple, Jeremy and Julia. Jeremy gets upset and tells everyone that they’re close to getting engaged. This angers Julie so she decides to go to bed. Jeremy tells Sally Jones (Millie Brady) how much the alcohol costs and that he wants everyone to stay and drink. She watches as Brett flirts with Jeremy before telling Jeremy that he needs to take a good look at the way he messes with Julie. She wants know when he is going to tell Julie about his change of heart. He says he might do it when he tells her about him and her. She says that is ancient history and she cares about Julie.

Next, Heather tells Colin (Mark Stanley) that she won’t be able to walk with him at the funeral. She says her family doesn’t know about the murders because she doesn’t want to connect Colin to all of this. He understands and says it’ll be fine. Ann receives flowers from Jeremy and that surprises her and Peter. Brett, Julie, and Jeremy get ready for the funeral. Before too long, Jeremy meets up with Colin. Ann passes by so Jeremy asks her if she got the flower. She changes the subject and talks about the caravan park. Colin is surprised and believes they only care about money. Stan and Mick attend the funeral and speak with Jeremy briefly. During the funeral, the priest speaks about Sheila’s mental state at the time of the murders.

He says she was tragically deranged. After that, Stan watches at Jeremy ignores Julie and flirts with Nancy (Maimie McCoy). Sally tells Julie that Jeremy is trying to get a rise out of her since he loves doing that. Julie eventually gets upset and walks into the kitchen. Stan follows her and tries to get her to talk about it. Julie says she loves Jeremy and she doesn’t know why he invited Stan. He gives her a card and says he is always there to talk with her. She throws the card in the trash and leaves. Mick tells Stan that there is someone he might want to speak with. They chat with James Carr (Glyn Pritchard) who manages the caravan park. James says he read about Sheila being involved in drug dealing.

He says the rumor is that Jeremy was involved in drug dealing and not Sheila. He didn’t see anything but he believes Jeremy was involved in the robbery too. James doesn’t like Jeremy so Stan can’t use his statement. David gets angry and tells Colin that Jeremy is not mourning. He is celebrating but Colin doesn’t believe it. Colin tells everyone that he wants them to wear bright colors for the funeral service for his boys since he wants it to be a celebration. Moments later, Taff (Stephen Graham) goes golfing with George. They chat about the Bamber funeral and George says there is going to be an internal reviews because a fuss has been made by some of the family. George believes Taff did everything properly so there isn’t anything to worry about.

Taff speaks with Stan at the office. Taff wants him to take a leave immediately since they’re overstaffed. Mick promises to do what he can while Stan is away. The funeral for the boys is held after that and Julie freaks out. Jeremy tracks her down and gives her an asthma inhaler. He tells her that he needs her on his side. Stan returns home and tells his wife that Jeremy is going to get away with it. Next, Brett and Jeremy try to find other items to sell. Jeremy gets a call from Nancy. Julie gets upset and hangs it up. The phone rings again and she pleads with him not to answer it but he does. She begins smashing things around the house so Jeremy says she loves attention. She slaps him in the face while Brett tries to calm them down. Brett is told to leave and he does.

James meets up with David, Peter, and Ann. He will speak with his son Rob who works at the police station. He says they’re going to rule that the investigation was carried out correctly. Ann storms out of the house angrily. Jeremy watches as Julie leaves home. Then, he begins loading items into bags and boxes. He calls Colin and asks him to come around. Colin is surprised that Jeremy stripped everything out of the house. He says there were things he wanted. Jeremy has the photos and he believes he did Colin a favor. He shows Colin the half-nude pictures of Sheila but Colin wants those destroyed since she always regretted them. Stan mows the yard until he gets a phone call from Mick. He rushes to the station and finds Julia there. She wants to speak with them. She says she wants to tell them what really happened that night.

White House Farm Review

This episode of White House Farm was a bit slow and not much happened. I am glad things finally started happening at the end. Julie has had enough and is going to tell police what really happened. It seems that Colin is reaching his breaking point as well. Is he going to change his mind about Jeremy? I think that will likely happen.

The show isn’t awful but it isn’t great either. The story is interesting but I think they could’ve done more with the show. I am also worried that they might be exaggerating or fabricating stuff too. I won’t know until I finish the show and research the murders. The episode scores a 6.5 out of 10. Previous recaps of White House Farm can be found on Reel Mockery.
