Visitation Place – As the fourth episode of Tulsa King begins, Armand (Max Casella) works at the ranch before leaving to deal with some stuff at home. Once he gets home, he finds more dog crap on his lawn before his neighbor gives him the finger. His wife tells him she is going to the store. Once Armand is alone, Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) puts a gun against his back and forces him to go inside. Dwight tries to figure out whether Chickie sent him. Armand says he hasn’t seen Chickie for over 20 years. When he pretends not to know about the shooting, Dwight hits him. Armand explains he thought Chickie sent Dwight there to kill him so he tried to take care of him first. He doesn’t have a beef with anyone, but he can’t imagine why else Dwight would be in Tulsa. As Dwight acts like he is going to shoot him, Armand shouts the name Tico Tavares.
He goes on to explain that Pete tried to set him up in prison because he was afraid he’d try to flip. He says no one does that kind of time even though Dwight did. Armand was afraid they’d try to kill him because of what he knew. Dwight changes the subject by asking him if he mows his lawn because he never has. Armand explains that he didn’t rat on anyone and just wanted out, but Dwight reminds him that isn’t the way it goes. Dwight says he messed up 25 years ago and he went to prison. Now, Armand tried to put a bullet in his head. Dwight wants Armand to work for him now so he wants an envelope with 300 bucks every Saturday. When Armand’s wife returns home and sees Dwight, she begins freaking out. He leaves.
After the intro, Dwight works out at the gym. Another guy walks over to tell him he is using the kettlebells wrong. Dwight doesn’t like that so he makes a sarcastic remark about knocking him out with them. Tyson (Jay Will) picks him up later. Dwight finds out that he has a transponder for tolls so he throws it away since he doesn’t want to be tracked. Next, Dwight goes to a tailor who wants him to get a modern, Tulsa-style. Stacy Beale (Andrea Savage) looks at Dwight’s file. A coworker shows her a man on Tinder and explains it is like panning for gold. Mitch Keller (Garrett Hedlund) admits to Dwight that he didn’t have any trouble getting the nitrous tanks. Bodhi (Martin Starr) tells Dwight that Bad Face is in town for the next few days making some drops. He thought Dwight might want to avoid him, but Dwight says he doesn’t have any problems with him.
Caolan Waltrip (Ritchie Coster) complains to his gang that they let them walk in and take the food off their table. Roxy (Emily Davis) calls them the weak links because they’re unreliable and indecisive. Caolan claims this is a threat to their very existence. Armand tries to give Dwight an antique he stole while insisting it could be worth 20 grand. Dwight refuses to take it because he wants cash. Tyson’s father begins asking him about the ring. He explains his boss gave it to him because of the hard work he has been putting in. Mark suspects the guy is a gangster. Dwight gets in touch with Jo who knows he called Tina. She tells him he is barking up the wrong tree if he thinks she is going to intervene. She reveals that Joe has lymphoma and they’re all taking turns doing shifts. Dwight offers to come since they’re brothers, but she doesn’t know why he’d come now.
She says she’ll keep him posted before hanging up. Tyson and Bodhi get beaten up by the biker gang and robbed. Armand’s wife tells him she scheduled a Zoom call with a real estate agent from Ocala, Florida. Dwight learns about the attack and the fact that the bikers took their tanks. Bodhi explains that a couple of the guys had Black Macadam embroidered on their jackets. Mitch recognizes them as a local biker gang. Dwight says they’re going to go in there, get their tanks, and get their money. Bodhi doesn’t like the idea so he is going to bring Bad Face just in case. Dwight calls Armand to ask him to come to the Bred-2-Buck later tonight to give him a chance to pay back some of what he owes. Mark complains about his son getting into a fight. Tyson reminds him that he tried to go to college, but his major was too imbecilic. Mark argues he didn’t make anything of the opportunities they gave him.
When he mentions a return on their investment, Tyson begins giving him money. The argument continues until Tyson storms out. Mitch tells Dwight that Maisie is going to cover for him during the concert even though he is on parole. Dwight doesn’t want him to go and get into trouble though. Stacy goes to the pub after a hiatus. A man buys her a drink. Bodhi asks Dwight where Mitch is before saying this feels like a bad omen. Dwight says this won’t be violent even though Bad Face admits it means a lot to him that he has been included in this beatdown. Tyson arrives with everything they need. As they try to leave, Tyson’s father enters. Dwight and Mark end up getting into an argument. Dwight reminds him that his son is a man and he works for him now. Mark learns that they’re taking care of the beating so he wants to come too.
Mark says he is serious because he is a father. Dwight formally introduces himself and they shake hands. Stacy tells Colton why he came to Oklahoma before he calls her pretty. He tells her that he could be a good time with a good guy. Outside the concert, Dwight and his men discuss a potential plan while waiting for the bikers to collect the money. They grab baseball bats and head in. While they beat up the bikers, Stacy goes back to the room with Colton. Dwight and the others leave with the tanks. At the pub, Dwight tries to give Mark money for his help. Mark tells Tyson that he always has a home unless he decides not to so he has to make his choice. Once he leaves, Dwight gives Armand money and tells him to buy a new lawnmower. Later, Dwight gets a call telling him he better talk to Joe now because he is probably going to pass soon.
Jo says he squeezed her hand when she asked if he wanted her to call Dwight so she did. Dwight apologizes for a lot of things before talking about Easter when their dad had them pick up some of those anise cookies from Mrs. Milano. They took a shortcut and run into a guy in white. Joe asked him if he was God. The guy said he must be God if that is what they said when they saw him. Dwight tells him that guy is okay if he sees him so he should go with him. He tells Joe that they’ll catch up later. When Armand returns home, he steps in dog crap and tells Clara to get back in the house. He puts it on Larry’s face before hitting him a few times with his boot. Clara tells him that they have the meeting with the real estate agent only for Armand to tell her they already have a home.
Tyson picks up Dwight and tells him he is thinking about dyeing his hair amber. Dwight tells him to do it and be himself.
Tulsa King Review
The fourth episode of Tulsa King was likely the best of the season so far since it had everything fans of the series could ask for. Dwight finally met his first rival in the form of a biker gang led by an eccentric. He had help from old and new allies including some that switched from potential enemies to friends. Surprisingly, Tyson’s father joined the gang briefly to protect his son and get revenge for the prior attack.
This will likely set up additional battles between Dwight’s gang of oddballs and Waltrip’s Black Macadam bikers so that should create more excitement for future episodes. Dwight was also forced to face death with his brother passing away. Unlike some of the others, the episode was the perfect length so nothing drug out for too long or was cut short too soon.
Visitation Place was a fun, action-packed episode that will leave fans eager for the next installment which will, unfortunately, be a week away. While the series is enjoyable in weekly installments, I think it’ll be even more rewarding for those willing to be patient so they can binge the entire season at once. Nevertheless, I think this is Tulsa King at its best. The episode scores an 8 out of 10. Recaps of Tulsa King can be found on Reel Mockery here. Finding our website beneficial?
