After a little father and daughter moment, we catch a glimpse of Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) cleaning up the hospital. She checks out Carol in the hospital bed, when Dr. Edwards (Eric Jensen) comes in and checks on her.
Next, Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and crew contemplate their options. Sheamus no want water! He’s becoming a prisoner to Maggie.
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) begins planning their assault on the hospital. Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) obviously shouldn’t have came. He isn’t prepared for the action.
Meanwhile, Gabriel continues scrubbing the floors with his hands. A stoic Carl (Chandler Riggs) suggests the holy man should learn to protect himself. Gabriel refuses to be a part of the madness. Afterwards, Beth hears the police officers discussing a plan and Carol (Melissa McBride). Beth suggests the officer should stop using his DVD player. Carol is to be pulled off of her machines. Officer Lerner (Christine Woods) blames the situation on Beth and suggests Beth must save the woman’s life, after giving her keys to the drug locker. She suggests Beth isn’t weak.
Glenn and crew suddenly run out of water and attempt to go for more. They know the exact spot to find water. Meanwhile, Eugene (Josh McDermitt) continues playing unconscious, while Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) continues being a big baby. And Maggie wants to play with snakes and ladders. She builds a childhood tent for Eugene.
Beth pays a visit to Dr. Edwards to inquire about what medication to give to Carol. Big surprise! Dr. Edwards knows she has the key and is upset. He tells her what she needs and tells her good luck. Meanwhile, Rosita (Christian Serratos), Tara (Alanna Masterson) and Glenn build a water filter to collect water. Another MacGyver moment. Ripples in the water! Time to go fishing.
Meanwhile, the cops chase Noah (Tyler James Williams) and corner him. Clearly a trap. The officers are handcuffed and immediately discover Rick is a cop. Super sleuthing skills, as a hospital car saves the cuffed officers. The car stops and the officers run on foot. Why did the car stop? Meanwhile, Daryl is attacked by a cop. Daryl rips the head off of a zombie and bashed the cop with it. Geez. Rick wants to kill the cop with his super big gun, but Daryl won’t let him. Smart choice?
Off screen, the survivors have captured the cops. The cops suggest they can deal with Dawn and later release Carol and Beth, but Sgt. Bob Lamson (Maximiliano Hernandez) refuses the offer and suggests talking to Dawn. He insists he can help the situation. Meanwhile, Glenn, Rosita and Tara begin stealing zombie clothes. Glenn and company have become Bear Grylls, as they catch some fish.
Michonne (Danai Gurira) checks on Gabriel. She tries to convince him that they’re doing the right thing. Once the door is closed, Gabriel begins pulling up the floorboards. Meanwhile Beth is playing doctor again. She gets the medication and takes it to Carol’s room. She shoots the medication into Carol’s IV and attempts to speak with her, to no avail.
When the show returns, Sasha and Tyreese are searching through the back of the vehicle. Tyreese tries to comfort Sasha about the loss of Bob, which seems like ages ago. Meanwhile, Gabriel pulls an Andy Dufresne and escapes the church. He stumbles around, after pulling a nail out of his shoe. Gabriel choke slams a zombie outside in the woods and almost smashes her head with a rock, but stops himself, after seeing her cross necklace.
Everyone is chatting with Sgt. Bob, first Rick and then Sasha. Bob discusses his loss of a comrade and his past with Dawn. He suggests his old pal, Tyler, saved his life. Sasha wishes to help Bob, by shooting Tyler, the zombie.
Meanwhile, Maggie keeps hanging out and Abraham keeps kneeling on the ground. Maggie questions, if Abraham wanted her to shoot him. Finally, Eugene awakes from under his little tent. Abraham drinks some water. Glen and the girls make their way back to the others.
Sasha has freed Bob and gets ready to shoot the zombie through the window. How dumb is she? He rams her into the window and she goes unconscious.
Review
Let’s face it. The Walking Dead has been on a downward elevator. While the season started out on a decently high note, quality has been dropping since. Do we really need an entire episode with Abraham kneeling on the ground and Eugene playing campout, under a makeshift tent? The entire scene at the church was nonsense as well. At this point, does anyone really care about Gabriel or his future?
Meanwhile, the crew continues making silly decisions. Sasha decides to help Bob kill his friendly zombie? Who didn’t see that one coming? Daryl’s near death scene was fun, until he wielded a zombie’s skull to defend himself. By the time he got to his feet, Rick was there with his unbelievably large pistol. Why couldn’t Rick have just saved the day? The, Daryl sees no point in killing his attacker, who had him an inch from death? The show is beginning to delve into preposterous effects and inconceivable character choices.
Where is the character development? The only significant development is the breaking down of formerly powerful characters into those with far-fetched ideas and beyond belief stupidity. At this rate, viewers will grow tired of the half-baked scheme and grow an appetite for the death of each and every survivor. When that happens, this show will being to fade. Still, next week is the mid-season finale would could potentially improve the show. Still, this episode felt more like impossible stuffing in a Thanksgiving Ham. For that, the episode deserves a 6.5.
