At the beginning of this episode of The Royals, Cyrus (Jake Maskall) approaches King Simon (Vincent Regan), with a big sword. Both admit they’re reconsidering some things. Cyrus leaves him unharmed, after the King reveals he is reconsidering banishing the monarchy. Prince Liam (William Moseley) hangs out with Gemma (Sophie Colquhoun), while Eleanor (Alexandra Park) questions Ophelia (Merritt Patterson) about Jasper. Of course, Jasper (Tom Austen) confronts Eleanor about her scheming. At school, Ophelia is harassed by the paparazzi, before being saved by Nick Roane (Tom Ainsley).
Meanwhile Princess Maribel (Hatty Preston) and Penelope (Lydia Rose Bewley) arrive for the fashion week photo shoot. Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) speaks to Liam, before Cyrus enters. The pair discuss their plan to keep the monarchy in tact. After Nick drops her off, at a cheese shop, Ophelia walks back to the palace. Meanwhile, Eleanor and Helena argue over the color of their dresses. Helena discovers Eleanor leaked her lingerie spending habits to the media. Ophelia accesses her dad’s computer and looks up Jasper’s information.
Princess Eleanor considers setting up her own fashion show to compete with Helena. Simon and Liam prepare to meet the Dragon King (Emilio Doorgasingh). The Dragon King gives Liam a bow and some arrows, before telling him about the value of family. Helena questions Jasper regarding the location of her daughter’s fashion show, but he insists he doesn’t know. Helena sizes up Jasper and questions about his birthplace. The Princesses help Eleanor set up her fashion show.
Meanwhile, Nick attempts to help Ophelia escape the school. Liam gets a sext from Gemma. He is ridiculed by a citizen, who insists the king should be appointed. Cyrus catches the Princesses getting “pampered”. He attempts to find out the location of the fashion show and uses incriminating pictures to his advantage. Helena arrives at Helena’s venue and swipes it out from underneath her. Nick drops Ophelia off and admits he knows all about her. Afterwards, King Simon ridicules Helena for crippling Eleanor’s fashion show attempts.
Liam and Eleanor agree to go out and party to help Liam get over Ophelia. The pair wind up running in to Gemma. Meanwhile, Cyrus gains information from James Holloway (Scott Malsen). Eleanor attempts to use Jasper’s status against him, since she’s found out he was an orphan. During a little craziness, Gemma crashes her vehicle into a phone booth. With that, Marcus (Ukweli Roach) and Jasper are forced to evacuate Liam.
In the morning, the group insists nobody saw Liam. Eleanor protects Jasper, before King Simon speaks to Liam about Gemma’s wreck. Simon tells Liam he is proud of him for putting in the effort for the crown. Meanwhile, Ophelia receives a gag gift from Nick. Eleanor approaches Helena and thanks her for giving her the palace for her fashion show. Helena belittles Eleanor, before the fashion shows begin.
At Eleanor’s fashion show, Gemma confronts Ophelia and insists she is okay, despite the wreck. Gemma speaks about Liam and admits he has sex with other women, but insists it doesn’t bother her. Liam and Ophelia speak on the balcony, where Liam admits he was with Gemma, during the wreck. Ophelia seems upset that Liam escaped and left Gemma behind. Afterwards, Cyrus speaks to Simon about Liam’s efforts. Simon insists it is time to put Liam on the plane tour and see how the people respond to him. Helena speaks to Eleanor and insists she told the media to praise Eleanor’s show, which upsets her.
Jasper enters and insists Helena is lying. He suggests he might be lying about one thing, but the Queen lies about everything. Cyrus tells Liam that he helped covered up for his crash, by clearing up the security footage. Despite Liam denying it, Cyrus insists they’re very similar.
Review
The episode definitely helped pushed the storyline forward, by developing the conflict or love affair between Jasper and Eleanor, while separating Ophelia and Liam. The separation was actually very beneficial for the show. Ophelia is likely one of the weakest characters and was actually more enjoyable going off on her own. The scheming around the fashion show was definitely fun, although a little predictable. Still, not a bad episode. A solid 7 out of 10 is suitable.
