Just Married – The episode begins with the group in a panic and debating worst-case scenarios when Rodney steals the van and leaves them stranded. Addie begins hitchhiking and not only scores a ride from the band playing at the wedding but scores all-new attire for the gang as well. At the wedding, they are briefly greeted by Cherry (Dinita Gohil), who couldn’t be happier that they ditched Rodney (Angus Imrie). The only problem is that Addie’s (Emma Appleton) van is a good indication that Rodney has beaten them to the wedding. They keep this to themselves and split up to search for him once Cherry is gone. Meanwhile, Rodney makes his way through the wedding dressed as a waiter.
With the gang now split up, Deb (Isabella Laughland) takes the opportunity to question Addie about her and Dylan (Laurie Davidson). Addie tells her that nothing has changed between them, so it makes absolutely no sense for them to get back together. Being that Dylan and Marcus (David Jonsson) aren’t speaking, they actually look for Rodney, but Marcus keeps running into exes and Dylan is waylaid by Miles (Adrian Lukis), who wants to introduce him to Hugh (Martin Turner). Things become even more complicated when Grace (Hannah Dodd) makes an appearance.
Marcus, Dylan, Grace, and Miles briefly speak while Rodney looks for Cherry. At the same time, Addie goes down memory road by visiting her old room the summer she met Dylan. He too soon joins her. Before the two can so as much greet each other, they hear a sound in the distance that leads them to Rodney, hiding in the secret wine cellar. Dylan does manage to apprehend him but it is only for a minute. After that, Rodney plays hostage with a priceless bottle of wine. Rodney throws the bottle against the wall just long enough to escape and lock them in the cellar. In the process, Addie’s dress gets covered in wine.
Dylan and Addie only stay locked up long enough to share a drink of a bottle of wine thanks to Deb and Marcus. With Addie’s wine-stained dress, she and Dylan venture off to find Krish (Karan Gill) and Cherry while Deb and Marcus continue the search for Rodney.
While Dylan teaches Krish to dance, Addie, Cherry, and Grace discuss the road trip and Addie’s and Dylan’s relationship. Dylan also brings Krish up-to-speed on everything he’s discovered about Addie and Marcus. At the same time, Deb and Marcus discuss Marcus’s and Dylan’s spat while looking for Rodney. Rodney and Deb nearly catch Rodney but are sidetracked by Dylan and Krish. With the wedding just minutes from starting, the group has no option but to guard Cherry like the Secret Service. While Addie and Grace bring up the rear, Grace tells Addie that Cherry kissed a random guy from her work at the bachelor party.
As Addie tells Grace everything Rodney and his sneaking into the wedding, Deb and Marcus just happen to randomly run into him. There is a brief chase that almost ends when Rodney spots Cherry and stalls. Deb tackles him but only manages to keep him down for a minute. When he gets up, Marcus comes to the rescue but the disturbance is so close that it draws the attention on the entire wedding party.
With the entire wedding party present, Addie has no option but to reveal the truth about her and Rodney’s kiss. Much to Rodney’s surprise, Krish already knows about the kiss and claims that it only made their relationship stronger. Despite all this, Rodney is even more surprised when Krish extends an invitation to the wedding.
After Krish and Cherry tie the knot, Dylan approaches Addie to comment on her dress. This leads into a brief discussion about table arrangements and invitations but ends with Dylan asking Addie to join him at his table. The discussion doesn’t get much further when Miles shows up to demand Dylan meet another business acquaintance. In the process, he ends up insulting Addie after noticing that Dylan’s watch is missing. Although Dylan does defend Addie, he does it after leaving the table and Addie does not get to see it. By the time he returns to the table, she is gone.
Dylan eventually catches up with Addie and even though she believes about him standing up to his father, she appears to be to devastated to forgive him. Despite this, Addie eventually admits that she has feelings for him but can’t go back down the road. The discussion doesn’t get much further thanks to Marcus showing up. In his upset state, Dylan snaps at him but feels bad when Marcus tells him that the best man speech is coming up.
Addie walks off to her van, and after waiting several minutes for Dylan to not show, she drives off. At the same time, Dylan realizes that he is the burden on Marcus, rather than the other way around. He also realizes that it was him who destroyed his relationship with Addie. The conversation ends with Dylan telling Marcus that he needs some time away from him.
By the time Dylan returns to the wedding and forgets that he’s misplaced his speech, Addie realizes she’s still wearing Dylan’s jacket and thus has his speech. Despite this, Dylan nails the speech because it is about what he knows best, his love for Addie. After reading the speech and realizing his love for her, Addie rushes back to the wedding. She arrives just as Dylan finishes his speech. The two end up in each other’s arms, making out.
Later that night at the reception, Addie patches things up with Deb, Dylan mends fences with Miles, and Marcus gets poached by Hugh. Even later that evening, Marcus and Deb take a sulking Rodney a piece of wedding cake. There are only a few words before Addie and Dylan join them as well. No one needs to say anything before Rodney realizes that Cherry was just being nice to him in all their interactions. It isn’t long after this that the major question becomes how they are going to get home tomorrow. When Addie tells them that she and Dylan are taking a detour, he announces that he quit working for his father.
The finale ends with everyone returning to the wedding and dancing the night away. At one point, Dylan and Addie steal away to the van.
The Road Trip Review
I must admit this was one heck of a love story, although some parts of it were a bit childish. I am glad to see that it ended with Dylan and Addie getting back together, although it was pretty clear that it was going to end this way from the beginning. Addie was just too adamant about them not getting back together for it to turn out any other way.
It’s hard to imagine this getting a second season unless they changed the whole premise. And, if they changed the premises, the name would no longer make sense. Stranger things have happened though. All that said, I would give the final an easy 6 out of 10.
