City Farm – Gregory “Greg” (Stephan Merchant), Myrna (Clare Perkins), Ben, Diane (Jessica Gunning), and Lady Gabriella “Gabby” Penrose-Howe (Eleanor Tomlinson) discuss their impending break-in at The Dean’s house. Ben says Josie (Chanel Waddock) claimed Smiley “Smiler) Marshall (Rhys Yates) said the safe was concealed behind a horse. Christian Taylor/Malaki (Charles Babalola) informs Burgess (Ricky Grover) of the impending break-in at The Dean’s house. He says The Dean’s hard drive will be stored inside a red toolbox. Christian demands Burgess arrest him to keep the others from finding out they are working together. The proceeds from the sale of the laptop will be split 50/50. Burgess threatens to kill Christian if he tries to set him up. Rani gives John the keys to her family’s AssistDirect Plumbing van. John questions if The Dean’s hard drive can only be accessed with a passcode. Rani calls Diane to ask what she knows about logarithms utilized to crack passwords in minutes. She says Nigel (Lloyd Griffin) told her.

Rhona (Bridgitta Roy) says whatever The Dean does after he is released will be Sergeant Lucy Haines’ (Grace Calder) fault. Haines grabs her by the throat. DS Selforth (Kojo Kamara) pulls Haines back. Rhona warns Haines that it is over for her. A short time later, Haines breaks down crying. Selforth embraces her. At the farm, Gabby is devastated when her pregnancy test comes back negative. Greg vows to masturbate until she gets pregnant.

Diane is sure Nigel is gay. Wearing skimpy shorts, Stan (Harry Trevaldwyn) tries to entice Nigel to give them a decryption code for The Dean’s laptop. Stan comments on his Rick and Morty t-shirt. Nigel demands to know what they are up to and claims his girlfriend doesn’t like his shirt either. Diane argues that he is gay. Nigel accuses her of trying to pimp out Stan to entice him to write her a code. He threatens to report them to HR until he sees they have scones.

Ben, John, and Myrna arrive at The Dean’s house in the plumbing van. Rani and Christian pull in behind them. Christian sees Burgess in the rearview mirror but doesn’t alert Rani. Burgess hops into the backseat. Ben leaves Tori a voicemail to request a return call before disconnecting The Dean’s water. Rani tells Burgess and Christian that she told Ben that she still loved him. Christian asks what was Ben’s response. She says Tori interrupted them. He suggests she let Ben go because she enjoys the crime life. Helena Matheson (Mircea Monroe) orders Victor (Charlie Rawes) to repair the water. He approaches John, Ben, and Myrna and demands they look at the water system. They follow him toward the house when Diane rides up on a scooter. She threatens to fine them if they don’t move the van. Victor reluctantly agrees to let them park in the driveway. Grabbing the red toolbox, Myrna follows them into the house. They warn Helena against drinking the water. Diane lures Helena outside while the others search for the safe.

Seeing a copy of “The Horse Whisperer” on the bookshelf, John flips it over but nothing happens. Diane detains Helena and Victor by claiming the AC unit is too loud. Ben locates the safe behind a child’s horse painting. Myrna returns the red toolbox to the van. Helena tries to bribe Diane. As Myrna and John are preparing to leave, Victor approaches with their pipe wrench. Burgess orders Christian to follow them. Diane reconnects the waterline before leaving. Burgess forces Rani to call Myrna who claims to have the laptop. John pulls off the road and stops. Burgess orders Myrna to place the toolbox on the ground and give him the hard drive. Rani asks how he knew it would be in the toolbox. He suggests asking Christian. Myrna beats Christian up while Burgess drives away with the hard drive. He calls The Dean to demand 100k or his hard drive goes to the prosecution. The Dean calls Helena to ask if anyone has been in the house. She says some plumbers. He tells where to find the safe and gives her the passcode. The hard drive is still in the safe. Hearing everything from inside a child’s tent, Ben waits until she leaves to open the safe and retrieve the hard drive.

The Dean calls Burgess to tell him that he doesn’t have his hard drive. Burgess accesses the hard drive to find a photo of The Outlaws. At The Dean’s children’s school, Greg lures the head teacher, Liam (Justin Edwards) away from his office while Gabby accesses his computer. Elsewhere, Christian and Rani steal a police vehicle. At the school, Gabby calls Helena to tell her that her daughter was peddling energy drinks. Ben utilizes the key fob to open the boot of her car. A short time later, Gabby and Greg are leaving as Victor pulls up in front of the school. Diane detains Victor while Ben emerges from the car. With the police sirens blasting, Christian and Rani speed toward Bristol with the hard Drive.

The finale closes nearly all avenues opened by the last three seasons. While there are a few loose ends for a new subplot, it isn’t necessary. Rarely do viewers find closure in TV shows and this is proof that it can be done. The finale deserves a 6.5 out of 10.
