The Last Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6 Recap

sihtric the last kingdom

As the episode begins, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) and his men continue the battle. Edward (Timothy Innes) urges Alfred (David Dawson) to unleash his army. Edward makes the decision to send the army into battle. Haesten (Jeppe Beck Laursen) orders his men to stand and fight. Skade (Thea Sofie Loch Naess) is surprised to see Alfred still alive. Finan (Mark Rowley) tells Uhtred to go after Skade. Skade rides towards Uhtred. Haesten knocks her out from behind and runs off with her. Haesten gets away with Skade. After the intro, the Danes are finished off. Some are taken prisoner. Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius) tells Uhtred about Osferth (Ewan Mitchell). Uhtred tells Osferth that he was a warrior today. He forbids Osferth from dying. Uhtred tells him that he will recover at Aethelflaed’s estate.

Sihtric believes they are still cursed since Skade is not with them. Uhtred meets with Alfred later that night. Alfred thanks Uhtred for the decisive victory. He lets Uhtred know that Edward sent in the army. Alfred tells Uhtred that he won’t see another summer. He is worried that Edward can be manipulated. Uhtred says otherwise. Alfred tells Uhtred he is free to go anywhere except for Wessex. Uhtred says that he will go to Aethelflaed’s estate. She is still in danger. Bloodhair (Ola Rapace) watches as the defeated Haesten returns to camp. Haesten tells Bloodhair to stay away from his woman. Then, he tells Cnut (Magnus Bruun) about the battle. Aethelwold (Harry McEntire) doesn’t want to believe that Alfred is still alive. Cnut refuses to believe that the battle is over. Skade blames Haesten for letting Uhtred and Aethelflaed live. Osferth is transported to Aethelflaed’s estate.

Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) checks on Uhtred. They speak about Ragnar. She tells him that father and son will be together in Valhalla. Aethelflaed offers to let him live there with his men. The prisoners stroll by. Aethelflaed tells him that she doesn’t like the enemies within her falls. Finan tells Uhtred that Osferth is sleeping. He recommends trying to recover Skade as soon as Osferth recovers. Sihtric says that enough men have died already. He doesn’t think it is a good idea for Uhtred to go to Ragnar’s gravesite either. Sihtric and Uhtred argue. Uhtred threatens to kill Sihtric if he is there when he returns. Dragfinn (Simon Krogh Stenspil) says that she has cursed them all and Uhtred allows it. He encourages Sihtric to abandon Uhtred. Aethelwold tells the Danes that Uhtred set the trap for Haesten. He claims that they need to kill Uhtred next.

Cnut tells Aethelwold that he will return to Winchester and deliver the long promised Saxon army. He tells Aethelwold to beg Alfred and kill Uhtred like he killed Ragnar. Haesten and Bloodhair learn the truth. Cnut claims that Ragnar’s men belong to Brida. Aethelwold is told to leave tomorrow. Aethelwold consults with Offa. Aethelwold makes him a bold promise. Sihtric sneaks around that night. He gets the keys to the cell. He tells Dragfinn that he will get him out of there as long as he takes him to his camp. They flee together. Uhtred goes to Ragnar’s grave. He is surprised by Brida (Emily Cox). Brida accuses Uhtred of betraying Ragnar three times. She puts out their fire. She says that they should suffer like Ragnar. Uhtred speaks to his brother. He buries the necklace with Ragnar’s body. Edward requests to speak with Alfred. Edward is willing to accept punishment for siding with Uhtred without permission.

Alfred is impressed with his son’s actions. Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth) explains that they would like him to meet Lady Aelflaed. Edward promises to do what he can for Wessex and his king. Brida wakes up and finds Danes nearby. Uhtred suggests leaving. Uhtred intends to try to help Ragnar escape Niflheim. Uhtred wants to speak with Storri (Henning Valin Jakobsen) about reaching the lost warrior. Brida agrees to travel with Uhtred to the village. Along the way, they’re attacked by Danes. They want Uhtred dead. Brida tells them that Uhtred is hers to kill when she is ready. Alfred speaks with Beocca (Ian Hart) about Uhtred’s movements. Beocca doesn’t believe Uhtred will ever find God. Alfred admits his son will need Uhtred. He says that Uhtred should remain an outlaw until he is gone. He wants Edward to make his own decision with Beocca’s help.

Uhtred encourages Brida to not become Cnut’s woman. They speak about the first time they sought out Storri. They speak about their lost loved ones. Brida says that she cannot forgive him for failing Ragnar. Uhtred tells Brida about Alfred wanting to put Ragnar on trial and kill him. He swore an oath to Alfred to prevent that from happening. They grieve together. In the morning, they make it to the village and find Storri. Storri reads a man’s fortune. They follow Storri to his cave hideout. Storri recognizes them both. Storri admits he would like to help Ragnar. Storri agrees to prepare for the ritual. Storri escapes them. He is tracked down quickly. Storri learns that his curse worked. He pleads with Brida not to kill him. Storri agrees to help them.

He plays games with them. Finally, Storri says that they need to kill the man who killed Ragnar. Uhtred asks him how to kill a curse. Brida chokes him to death before he can say anything. She says that she broke her curse. You have to kill the sorcerer without breaking the skin and without shedding one drop of blood. She says he will need to do the same to Skade or make her his woman. She tells Uhtred that Storri cursed her a long time ago. She admits she didn’t tell Uhtred how to break the cruse because she knew he wouldn’t stay and she wanted him to suffer. He tells her that they are one and have been for a long time. Brida says that she’ll find the person who killed Ragnar. Uhtred intends to find Skade and Thyra. Brida explains that she will not hesitate to kill him when they meet on the battlefield.

The Last Kingdom Review

This was a pretty decent episode of The Last Kingdom. The beginning of the episode was intense. I enjoyed it very much. Things got pretty weird near the end. I wasn’t too thrilled with the scenes containing Storri. Nevertheless, it helped Uhtred find out how to solve his problem. Now, we have a lot of questions going forward. What will happen with Sihtric? Has he truly left Uhtred or are they playing games with Dragfinn and the other Danes?

What will Uhtred do about Skade? Will she become his woman or will he kill her and life the curse? I am eager to find out how things turn out. The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of The Last Kingdom now!
