Where’s My Weed At? – As this episode of The Gentlemen begins, the marijuana cultivation process is explained. Freddy (Daniel Ings) and Jimmy (Michael Vu) smoke weed together. Jimmy drives away in a van to make the deliveries. He stops to get something to eat a short time later. A woman sits down next to him and begins talking to him about the sauce. Gabrielle (Ruby Sear) introduces herself before spilling a drink on Jimmy. She steals his keys. When she goes for another shake for Jimmy, she hands the keys to someone else. Jimmy gives her his number and she leaves. Then, he notices that the van is gone. Eddie goes to the gym where he speaks to Jack Glass (Harry Goodwins).
Susie (Kaya Scodelario) is busy trying to get in touch with Jimmy. She tells Eddie that he isn’t answering his phone. Susie admits the customer expecting the shipment was disappointed. She told Toni Blair that there was an unforeseen delay. Susie tells Eddie that you never give money back once it’s been handed over. She says he has decided to throw him a bone. In a flashback, Toni tells Susie that they’ve run into a problem with their vehicle importation and exportation business. Eddie finds out that Susie has promised to steal a car for him. She thought he might be interested in stepping up and dealing with the vehicle. Eddie says that would be a departure from their agreement so he wants something in return. She agrees to give him a number.
Eddie turns his attention to Susie leaving his estate. He wonders if they should just set a date. As Eddie leaves, Jack tells Susie he doesn’t know what their dad sees him in. Susie says he killed someone and didn’t have a crisis. Eddie speaks to Toni Blair so he can learn more about the vehicle he wants. Toni shows him what to do once he has the key. He reveals he isn’t doing it because he is wearing an ankle monitor. Eddie knows he needs a distraction so he goes to Freddy. Tammy (Chanel Cresswell) wants to know more about the plan. Eddie will say they want to test drive the vehicle and everything else will be up to Wham Tam. Geoff (Vinnie Jones) finds Jimmy. Eddie, Freddy, and Tammy go to the car dealership to see if they can steal the key.
Eventually, Mercy takes them inside and shows them the expensive vehicles. In private, Eddie tells Freddy not to mess this up. Tammy is given the chance to drive the vehicle. While Mercy is distracted, Eddie rushes to copy the key. As he is copying the key, Mercy realizes he is gone and starts looking for him. When she finds him, he is sitting down. Eddie says he thought they’d draw up a contract. They go back outside where Tammy says she doesn’t like the color of the car. They agree to be in touch and leave. Meanwhile, Geoff deals with Jimmy who is still trying to come to his senses. He tells Jimmy it happens to everyone sometimes, but you have to learn from the experience. Susie arrives to speak to Jimmy who says he is sorry about the current situation.
He begins telling Susie what happened when he stopped at Patty’s. He got a ride with headbangers with shrooms. After the shrooms kicked in, it felt like he fell off a cliff. Since then, everything has been a haze. Susie wants to more about the girl. She thinks they need to find her because she took the keys to the van. Jimmy believes Gabrielle will call him. Susie tells him to find a way to get the plants to grow faster because they have a big hole in their production now. In private, Eddie tells Susie he wasn’t expecting to encounter severed human body parts when collecting the vehicle. He reveals he found a severed finger so it may be an escalated with the people they’re dealing with. Eddie believes the information she was given was incomplete.
He asks if he still has to steal the car now that she has a lead on the weed. Susie explains why she still needs him to steal the car. Lady Sabrina (Joely Richardson) asks Geoff what’s going on. He tells her that an associate of the Duke got lost in the woods and he dropped him off. Sabrina hopes he’d tell her if Eddie was getting into real trouble. Eddie and Freddy go to the car lot. Freddy warns him to tread carefully with these people. He questions why they’re doing this. He suggests they could just stick with the deal their father had. Eddie explains he wants to remove them from a criminal organization and take back control. Eddie gets out and heads towards the car dealership. Freddy watches as Eddie sets off a car alarm to create a distraction.
Eddie gets close to the vehicle when he hears a man pleading with them not to hurt him. The man asks them not to take any more fingers. When he sees Mercy arrive, Freddy realizes the situation is not good. Eddie is in the vehicle when he receives a call from Freddy telling him to get out of there. Freddy watches as Eddie speeds away in the vehicle. His car won’t start so he gets caught by Mercy’s man and pretends to be sleeping. Eddie calls Freddy and asks him to call him back. The man who was held captive is in Eddie’s vehicle. He tells Eddie that he must take it back. He wants to show Eddie what’s in the trunk. A bloody Eddie returns to Susie and admits things didn’t go as planned. He says Toni wanted the car because it contained one hundred and fifty kilos of cocaine. The guy with the missing finger told Eddie that Toni knew and sent him in as well.
The man gets hit by a vehicle as he tries to walk away. The impact causes blood to land on Eddie’s face. In the present, Eddie and Susie talk about moving the cocaine. Susie thinks they need to find out who the gear belongs to first. Eddie gets a call from Freddie’s phone but it’s Mercy. She wants the cocaine or Freddy is going to be punished. In the car, Susie reveals Mercy has some serious Colombian muscularity behind her. If they give her what she wants, Susie thinks it can be handled amicably. Once they arrive, Eddie confirms Freddy is his brother. Susie introduces herself to Mercy. Eddie says they’ve brought a peace offering. They give her Toni in exchange for Freddy. Mercy won’t cooperate because she believes in an eye for an eye. Mercy wants justice to be seen so she kills Toni in front of them.
Then, Freddy and the others are allowed to leave. Susie insists this is a job like any other so there will be good and bad days. She believes the important thing is that he showed the right attitude. Gabrielle ends up calling Jimmy and offers to meet up sometime. After the call, a woman asks Gabrielle if she actually likes him. Gabrielle tells her not to be silly. They set the van on fire. Later, Jimmy tells Susie he is only going to smoke weed in the evenings. He thinks he can repay the debt since he is working on a new hybrid weed strain. Eddie speaks to Sabrina about Freddy’s near-death experience. She reminds Eddie he was supposed to be getting rid of these people instead of joining them. Eddie shoots with Freddy as the episode ends.
The Gentlemen Review
The third episode of The Gentlemen wasn’t much of an improvement, but it was at least much shorter. The writing remains the biggest problem because the series is trying desperately to be funny even though it isn’t. At one point, Freddy tells Eddie to be careful with these people even though he previously killed Tommy. Eddie’s goal of escaping the criminal enterprise is obviously a pipedream based on his actions.
Toni Blair was ridiculous in every sense of the word including his eventual death. His entire crew was pretty annoying when they were alive so no one is going to miss them. If there was more action and less dialogue, this may be suitable brainless entertainment that’s worth its while. Otherwise, it’s stupid half of the time and dull for the rest.
The episode scores a 4.5 out of 10. Recaps of The Gentlemen can be found on Reel Mockery here. Find out how to support our independent site at this link. Learn more about advertising with us here. Discuss The Gentlemen and other shows at the Reel Mockery Forum.
