The Enfield Haunting: A Look Ahead

The Enfield Haunting is an upcoming television mini-series from the British network, Sky Living. The show is set to focus on the paranormal haunting of the same name and will follow the true to life account of the story, with Matthew Macfadyen, Timothy Spall, and Juliet Stevenson staring. According to the true tale of the Enfield Poltergeist, Peggy Hodgson reported to police that two of her children were reporting strange activity occurring at the family’s home. The kids claimed an unknown and unseen force was moving around, furniture. They also reported hearing knocking sounds, within the walls!
It was reported that the sequel to The Conjuring would focus on the haunting and is expected to be released in October of 2016, although the release date has already been changed several times. However, it is likely the television mini-series, The Enfield Haunting, will be much more effective in telling the story, especially with Kristoffer Nyholm, who is responsible for the Danish version of The Killing, set to direct.
The Enfield Haunting TV series is set to air in spring of 2015 and will explore the events draw inspiration from witness statements and recordings from the real life haunting. While the story itself is enough to draw one in, it is the cast that is even more exhilarating. Matthew Macfadyen is set to play Guy Lyon Playfair, who is somewhat of a skeptical investigator. Fresh off of the third season of Ripper Street, Macfadyen looks to capture the imaginations of viewers once again.
He will be joined, by veteran Timothy Leonard Spall, who is famous for his roles in Pierrepoint, The King’s Speech, and more recently the biographical movie, Mr. Turner, which explores the life of famous painter J M W Turner. Spall will play a newbie paranormal investigator, who is likely in over his head.
The male leads will have an equally impressive female counterpart in Juliet Stevenson, who is a three time BAFTA Aware nominee. She was exceptional alongside Peter Capaldi in the British television drama, Accused, in 2010. Stevenson will be playing the wife of Mr. Grosse, Betty.
The outstanding British cast is set to recreate the events surrounding the bizarre paranormal activity, which took place in 1977. From the images, we can see that the scene perfectly replicates that time period. Sadly, not much else has been released about the show. With this type of cast, the stylish time period and the bizarrely interesting story, I expect an interesting adaptation, which no British television fanatic should pass up!

What do you think? Will you be watching The Enfield Haunting? The book, which was written by Guy Lyon Playfair, based on the story can be found below.
