As the episode begins, we see Louisa (Keeley Hawes) cooking. She complains about having to cook a separate meal for Gerald (Milo Parker). Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) explains that Daphne has going to Athens. Larry (Josh O’Connor) arrives home with Henry Miller (Trevor White). During dinner, Larry complains about the fascist government. Louisa reveals that Sprios (Alexis Georgoulis) has stopped working. Margo (Daisy Waterstone) learns that Henry likes being naked. Louisa promises that Larry will be held responsible if anything embarrassing happens. At work, Leslie learns from his partner that the police is thinking about arresting Sven (Ulric von der Esch) due to his homosexuality. Louisa tries to come up with a way to convince Gerry to stop being a vegetarian.

Leslie returns home and tells the family about the police and Sven. Larry is not happy. He pays Sven a visit right away and warns him. Louisa and Margo visit Spiros. His house is a total mess. Spiros reveals he hasn’t heard from his wife. Back at work, Leslie is ordered to arrest Sven. He tries to talk his boss out of it, but fails to do so. Margo becomes obsessed with watching Henry. Larry asks her if he can get into Countess Mavrodakis’s (Leslie Caron) library. He needs books to defend Sven. She insists that nobody is allowed in her house now. Sven is arrested by Leslie. Back at home, Louisa tells Gerald that he will need to cook his own meals. She tries to entice him with some meatballs. Larry and Leslie get into another argument about Sven’s arrest. Louisa speaks with Theo (Yorgos Karamihos) about Spiros and Sven.

Theo suggests getting Spiros’s uncle, Leonidas, to watch after him for the time being. Louisa meets with Leonidas (Spyros Ioannou). He agrees to stay with Spiros. Louisa runs into Spiros. He apologizes for the mess. They share a drink at the bar. Spiros admits he misses his children more than his wife when Louisa is with him. Larry and Henry visit the police station. They argue with the guard until they’re finally allowed inside. Of course, Louisa is already there. Larry details his plan to help Sven. Basil (Miles Jupp) visits. He explains that there are a few loose ends with the aunt’s estate. Larry breaks into the countess’s library. She tries to shoot him, but he manages to get away. They learn about the crime at the station. Leslie agrees to speak with the countess. Louisa visits Spiros. She finds him drinking with his uncle.

Louisa tries to convince Spiros that he is not selfish. He admits he loves Louisa and all of the family. She promises that her family will help restore Spiros to his old self. Leslie speaks with the countess. She admits she knows who the intruder was. She tells him that it was Larry. Gerald actually cooks for himself. Larry discusses his plan for saving Sven. Basil finally tells Louisa that is something wrong with the estate. Basil receives a telegram in the morning. Gerald, Roger and Lugaretzia (Anna Savva) visit Spiros. They try to help him clean up his home. Theo joins Larry. Basil is invited to join them. Larry and the others try to get Sven released. Larry’s plan fails. Basil explains that the aunt made some investments and Louisa might not get the money that she needs. Louisa visits the police station. She tells the officer about her relationship with Sven. She also butters him up a bit.

Leslie tells his boss that the countess didn’t see the thief. The boss insists otherwise. Larry arrives at the station. He gets himself chained up just as Sven is being released. Margo visits Spiros. She wants to tell him about her philosophy of life. Henry and Basil visit him as well. This convinces Spiros to leave and go for a ride. Leslie continues lying about the thief. He is forced to resign. The family tries to cheer him up at home. Larry tells him that he loves him and that he is grateful. Basil reveals that Louisa will get just enough money to pay off her debt. Gerald slips and begins eating meatballs. Louisa meets with Spiros. Louisa admits she feels lost without Spiros. He announces that he is back.

The Durrells In Corfu Review

This episode of The Durrells was pretty good. It had some humor along the way. It was also nice to see the Durrells actually turn the tables and help Spiros for a change. It is usually the other way around. Sven was arrested and Larry was nearly arrested. In order to save his brother, Leslie was forced to give up his job. This wasn’t the best episode of the season, but it was entertaining nevertheless. A 7 out of 10 is deserved. Catch up with previous recaps of The Durrells In Corfu right now!
