The Devil’s Hour Series 2 Episode 4 Recap

Far Away – The episode opens with Evelyn Wiseman (Amanda Lawrence) pulling a cart down a mountain toward a lone house. She flips on the radio, sets a jar of sauerkraut on a shelf, writes “Supposed to be” in her diary, and stares at her reflection in the mirror. She goes out to collect eggs and documents the number on her notepad. Her washing machine malfunctions. It appears as if she has experienced the same time of type before. She repeats it over and over when a news report about the Rigby’s Toys bombing draws her attention. Looking in the mirror, she grows more frantic while watching her reflection carrying a basket through the house. Elsewhere, Gideon Shepherd (Peter Capaldi) stares at his investigation board when he receives a call from DI Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine) asking if he can defuse a bomb. He assures her that he can stop the individual once he is identified and if not, he will reset. Refusing to reset, she threatens to notify the police. He warns against telling anyone what they know. She admits to shooting Steve Dunn (Jimmy Walker). He urges her to come to his place and burn her clothes. Inside her car, she wipes the blood from her face when Debbie Warren (Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty) calls. She is forced to change her plans because Isaac Chambers (Benjamin Chivers) suffered a dog bite. Later, Lucy arrives to pick up Isaac. Giving her a cloth tied around his wound, Debbie denies any of them saw the dog but Meredith Warren saw him disappear.

The Devil’s Hour Review

In the previous episode, Isaac revealed his ability to disappear at will. Now, he can heal Sylvia’s dementia-ridden mind. Lucy can now recall her past life and share bits of their time together with Ravi.

While her story is gripping and emotional, it lacks credibility and direction. The continuous revelations are spinning the story out of control with no legible ending in sight. The episode deserves a 5.5 out of 10.
