The episode opens with Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Danny (Sam Heughan) after having sex. She expresses her desire to do it again. He says they have partners to get back to before walking away. She appears to be disappointed by his behavior. Upon leaving, Danny sees a distressed Pete (Alfred Enoch) sitting in a chair. He returns home to find Becka (Jessica de Gouw) upset about their sex videos being posted online. She asks if he is responsible. Denying any responsibility, he vows to find the culprit.

Lying on a gurney, Alan Richardson (Hugh Dennis) is being placed in an ambulance. Jean Richardson (Kate Robbins) tells the paramedic (Emma Moortgat) that Alan was looking for a possible intruder. The paramedic says Alan appears to have suffered a stroke. Gloria (Janine Duvitski) and Ruffles watch as Jean gets into the ambulance with Alan.

Danny spots an unusual car in the neighborhood. Evie invites Pete out to the pub. He suggests she is going to act like everything is normal. She assures him that Becka is okay with her and Danny. She urges him to not blame himself.

While discussing their sex video, Becka notices the sliding door is open. Noting something odd with the bedroom camera, she suggests an intruder has been in their house. Danny promises to get his colleagues to look into it. Later, Danny walks outside to find an envelope lying on the doorstep. He opens the envelope to find photos of Olly (Daniel Bell) playing. Elsewhere, Pete is speaking to Evie.

Danny tells Gary (Joel Morris) that Robbie Spencer (Mark Frost) may have been in his house. He hands Gary the envelope with Olly’s photos. Gary gives Danny a handgun. Danny scolds Gary for getting them involved with someone as dangerous as Spencer. Pete watches them from a short distance away. Gary suggests they meet with Spencer.

Becka arrives at the yoga studio to find it empty. Yvonne (Lauren Douglin) arrives a short time later to inform Becka that her yoga classes are temporarily suspended.

When Sophie (Ioanna Kimbook) asks Pete about the spa, he is short with her. She shows him a surveillance photo taken outside Colossus Building Supplies on Roseville Road. He recognizes one of the policemen as the man talking to Danny earlier. He claims Danny denied being at the location. Sophie asks if she thinks Danny is telling the truth when Sophie arrives. Pete tells Sophie that it is Danny’s wife. At a restaurant, Becka says Evie claimed that he was okay with partner-swapping. He admits to being confused about how he feels. She hopes they can continue to be friends.

Danny orders Spencer to stay away from Olly. He gets in Spencer’s face. Spencer threatens to harm Danny’s family. Gary assures him that there is no need because they are willing to cooperate. Spencer demands they return what was stolen from him. Upon returning home, Danny is confronted by Evie who feels he is avoiding her. He warns that it is dangerous before refusing to have sex with her as long as Pete is not on board.

Pete confronts Evie about what Becka told him. Evie denies planning it. He accuses her of setting it up before asking if she and Danny had sex. She claims they messed around but he refuses to believe her. The following morning, Pete accuses Danny of lying about being at Colossus Building Supplies last week. He questions why Spencer hired two traffic cops. Danny urges him to let it go or risk Evie getting hurt.

A paramedic (Henry Regan) pushes Alan into the house in a wheelchair. Jean takes the stairlift upstairs. Evie’s pregnancy test renders positive results. Elated, she gives thanks to God. A teacher (Geoffrey Breton) reminds Becka that Olly has not paid for the impending school trip. Promising to pay it now, she accesses her bank account to see a balance of 87 pounds.

Placing a photo of Becka and a woman kissing on the table, Jean asks Alan where he got it. She accuses him of fantasizing about Becka because he thought her too old. She leaves the photo on the table for him to look at. Evie masturbates while thinking of her time with Danny.

Gloria and Jean are discussing Alan’s condition. Gloria says thankfully Jean found him at Becka’s house. Becka is nearby when she hears her name. Jean claims to have sent Alan to Becka’s house because she thought an intruder was lurking around. She says Alan found the back door open before apologizing about his having a stroke inside her house. Becka offers Alan yoga classes. Jean tells her that he is scheduled to start physical therapy. Becka secretly follows Danny to Lena’s (Deirdre Mullins) apartment.

At a bowling alley, Danny tells Ethan (Noah Holdsworth) that he would like to spend more time with him. Ethan questions why he never came around. Danny says he never stayed in touch with Lena but he knew about him. He apologizes for not being there for him. Ethan asks where he lives. Danny admits to living not far away with his family. Ethan questions if he doesn’t want him to meet his family. Danny assures him that he wants them to meet but suggests they take it slowly.

Evie attends Mike (Darlo Coates) and Rachel’s (Katie Clarkson-Hill) baby shower. She tells her that she is pregnant.

Sophie is at a pub when Danny and Gary arrive. Noddy (Robert Whitelock) tells them about an inmate, Lars (Aime Claeys), who is affiliated with a Belgium gang. He explains how the gang confiscates items belonging to other gangs. He claims Lars stores his uncut diamonds but refuses to say until they agree to give him a cut. Gary agrees to pay him 1,000. Noddy marks the address on a map on Danny’s phone. Sophie intentionally bumps into Danny, knocking his phone out of his hand. When she picks it up, she gets a look at the map. In her car, she listens to a recording of Noddy, Danny, and Gary’s conversation. Sophie follows Danny and Garry to the address marked on the map. Snapping a photo of Danny in front of the facility, she texts it and the address to Pete. She sneaks into the facility. Becka visits Lena’s apartment. Back at the facility, Danny finds an invoice made out to Lindcath Imports, Eddie Smallwood of Sheepscar. He opens a Royal Northern Bank box to find a username and password. Pete pulls up outside.

Gary alerts Danny of an approaching vehicle. Danny hides behind a stack of boxes before Lars and John (Ali Ariaie) enter the office. They are waiting on a shipment. John places a key inside the Royal Northern Bank box and locks the desk before leaving. Sophie joins Pete outside. She plays the recording from the pub. Inside, Danny breaks into the desk, retrieves the bank key, and races out to the car. As Gary drives out of the parking lot, Danny and Pete make eye contact. Unable to make contact with Evie, Pete calls Rachel to ask if she has seen her. Rachel says she just left her baby shower before expressing her excitement about Evie’s pregnancy. The episode ends.

 

The Couple Next Door Review

Knowing now that Pete was never okay with partner-sharing, Becka tells him that Evie gave her and Danny the go-ahead to pursue the. Evie’s obsession with Danny grows deeper. A pregnancy reveals she is going to have a baby. She shares the news with Rachel who tells Pete, believing he already knew.

Pete accuses Danny of lying about not being with Spencer in front of Colossus Building Supplies. Danny warns Pete to drop or risk him and Evie getting hurt.

Sophie records Noddy telling Danny and Gary about Lars’ uncut diamonds. She follows them to the address. Danny finds a username, password, and key to a Royal Northern Bank account. It appears that Lars is utilizing a straw company called Lindcath Imports registered to Eddie Smallwood.

Jean finds Danny and Becka’s sex videos. To keep Alan from going to jail, she claims to have seen an intruder and sent Alan to check it out. She later tells Becka that Alan found her back door open. Becka offers to give Alan yoga lessons but Jean says he will be going to physical therapy.

Becka learns that Danny withdrew 10 grand from their bank account. He claims to have paid a deposit for a renovation project. She suggests asking for a refund because they can no longer afford it after losing her job.

Danny takes Ethan to the bowling alley. Ethan wants to meet Olly and Becka. Danny suggests they take it slow. Becka follows Danny to Lena’s apartment. She returns later to talk to her.

 

The quality of the story continues to deteriorate. The warehouse scene was the worst. The Lindcath Imports facility was left wide open, with only one security gate and multiple accesses. Sophie and Danny get in and out of the facility without a problem. It would seem that Sophie and Pete would want to keep their surveillance a secret but no, they exposed themselves to Danny and Gary.
