Aqua, Fuego, Tierra, Viento – As the episode opens, Thony (Elodie Yung) waits on the Coyote van only to find out Fiona (Martha Millan) and Chris (Sean Law) are not on board. Recognizing them from a photo, an intimidating Coyote (Jamie Javier Guerrero) claims they never returned from a pit stop in the desert. Thony demands Dante (Clayton Cardenas) find them or she will. Fiona, an injured Chris, and Camila (Esmeralda Camargo) follow power lines to what they hope will be a city but find nothing but an empty desert.
Nadia Morales (Eva de Dominici) meets a bounty hunter, Logan (Gurinder Sindher) in a remote location. She hands him Armando’s photo and $100k with the promise of $1 million if he is located. She suggests he was abducted by the carte. He vows to find him.
Pointing at a map, a Coyote says it is where they made the pit stop. Thony urges Dante to order the Coyote to return to the ruins. He refuses and immediately alerts Jorge Sanchez (Santiago Cabrera) who is with Ramona Sanchez (Kate Del Castillo) at the casino. They confront Nadia about hiring someone to find Armando. Ramona denies any connection to her nephew, Armando Morales’ (Adan Canto) abduction and warns against hiring Logan. Seeing ASAC Katherine Russo (Lisa Weil), Nadia stresses the need to utilize her resources to find him. Ramona urges her to leave it to them, so they can all stay safe. Jorge gives Nadia a Sombra Gallery business card before they leave.
Thony returns home to find JD Harris (Ryan Sands) there. He demands to know where Chris and Fiona are but she refuses to tell him. He warns against missing her appointment with CPS Social Worker Susan Redman (Rekha Sharma). She assures him that she will be back in time for the meeting. When he offers to go with her, Jaz (Faith Bryant) says he is needed there. Luca (Sebastien LaSalle, Valentino LaSalle) is thrilled to have more time with Jaz. A short time later, Thony forces her way into a Coyote vehicle to go search for Chris and Fiona.
Russo confronts Nadia about a $1 million liquidation of her assets. Nadia sarcastically claims to be buying shoes out of Russo’s reach. Russo says a freeze will be placed on Kamdar’s estate until the case goes to trial.
Chris voices concern about their welfare if they are forced to stay in the desert. Fiona warns him against thinking negatively but breaks down when she finds a child’s shoe. Camila spots water tanks through an old pair of binoculars. After forcing the Coyote vehicle to stop, Jorge orders Thony to go with them. When she refuses, he fires a round into the ground. The Coyote tosses her bag on the ground and drives away. She reluctantly goes with Jorge. Chris collapses as they reach the water tanks which turn out to be empty. Fiona leaves Camila and Chris to go get help. Jorge and Thony arrive at the ruins to find no one there. He claims people have survived in the desert for a week. She tells him about Luca’s impending CPS interview. Camila places a piece of cactus to Chris’s lips when he comes to. They see a plane in the distance. She snaps a picture of it. He assures her that everything will be okay.
Nadia finds the safe in her office open and Armando’s photo with a note – $100 million – on the back but no cash. Frantic, she calls Russo. In the desert, Jorge is calling the search for Chris and Fiona quits. Thony refuses to let him alert border control. He assures her that their routes are safe. She reminds him of the woman who gave birth on his route. She breaks down after seeing a corpse on the ground and blames herself when she spots Chris’ cap.
Luca asks Jaz and JD to move in with them. JD says they have their own place. Jaz gets upset because she believes JD is forcing her to choose between him and Fiona. She assures him that Thony is trying to make it right by finding Chris and Fiona.
Nadia informs Ramona that the FBI put a freeze on her accounts. Ramona claims to have connections that help Nadia get her money back but not legally. An incoming call from Auntie Kate pops up on Nadia’s phone.
Fiona starts hallucinating when a group of undocumented immigrants approach. They pull her to a Coyote truck. She pleads for help in saving her son. Jorge and Thony encounter an armed Frank (Stephen Monroe Taylor) and Barbie (Cassandra Ballard). An alert regarding a Coyote truck screams across their radio. Jorge comes under attack but gains control of Frank’s gun. Frank tells Barbie to shoot him. Thony retrieves a handgun from Jorge’s Jeep and fires a round into the air. Jorge knocks Frank out. Barbie drops her gun and Jorge restrains her. Thony orders her to utilize her radio to find out the Coyote van’s location. Barbara pleads to not be left out there. Jorge shoots up their vehicle. Thony leaves her a bottle of water but he shoots a hole in it. Fiona, Chris, and Camila are in the Coyote van when it comes under fire by the vigilantes. When the driver is killed, the truck rolls a short distance before coming to a stop. Thony and Jorge are en route to the location. Exhaust fumes begin to fill the truck. The gate will not open. Utilizing a screwdriver, Fiona pokes holes for them to get fresh air before collapsing.
Thony and Jorge open the gate. Jorge places an unconscious Fiona on the ground and administers CPR. Fiona gasps for air. A short time later, they are at home. Gizelle (Natasha Elias) arrives to pick up Camila. Chris snaps a few selfies and gives her his number. She kisses him on the cheek before leaving.
Nadia receives an incoming call from Auntie Kate. She tells Russo to never call her again. A text asking her to meet with Ramona pops up on her phone. Elsewhere, Jorge drops Thony’s van off at her house. Holding out a vial of Devil’s Breath, she says it was in the van utilized in Armando’s abduction. He promises to look into it before leaving.
Nadia meets Ramona on the rooftop. In the distance, they see an explosion. Ramona suggests the insurance payment for the sportsbook will cover Armando’s ransom. They have a drink as the episode opens.
The Cleaning Lady Review
Thony learns Fiona and Chris were left abandoned in the desert. As time counts down to her impending CPS interview, she accompanies a Coyote to the desert. When Jorge finds them, she convinces him to help look for them. She is beginning to believe it is too late when she finds Chris’ cap. In the meantime, Chris collapses and Fiona leaves him with Camila to go find help. She eventually encounters a group of undocumented immigrants waiting for a Coyote truck. She pleads with the Coyote to not leave her son in the desert to die. They are in the truck when it comes under fire by a group of vigilantes. The driver is killed and the truck fills with exhaust fumes. Fiona knocks holes into the lift gate but soon collapses.
Thony and Jorge find themselves hostage of vigilantes, Barbara and Frank. They conspire together to take down Frank and Barbara. They rescue Chris, Fiona, Camila, and other undocumented immigrants from the Coyote truck. Thony administers CPR to save Fiona. Camila is later reunited with Gizelle.
Ramona blows up Kamdar’s sports bar to help Nadia raise the money for Armando’s ransom.
It seems the show may be taking a different direction with Thony and Jorge. With Adan Canto out of the picture, this may be an attempt to save the series. Time will tell!
