As the episode begins, Daniel Milton (Mark Strong) goes to the church for Suzana’s funeral. Max (Julian Kostov) attends the funeral as well. As Daniel tries to leave the church, he is stopped by Max who introduces himself as Suzana’s brother. Max claims Suzana was grateful for the help Daniel gave her and he gave her hope. Daniel is invited to Suzana’s wake before the conversation ends. Meanwhile, Anna (Carice van Houten) drives Rebecca (Emily Bevan) and two others down into the bunker. Although Rebecca doesn’t like Anna’s clinic, Anna tells them there is where her miracle happened. She tells them to get comfortable and they’ll start as soon as Daniel arrives. Meanwhile, Daniel attends the wake as Max talks about the difficulty of life without his sister.

Anna calls him but he ignores the call. Rebecca interrupts Anna and complains about Daniel not being there. She recommends Anna doing it without him since she is the scientist. Anna is worried they won’t trust her so Rebecca tells her to tell them she had a terminal illness but no longer does. Lee Simmons (Daniel Mays) meets with Ash and Eve (Lily Newmark) at one of their protests. He is given a boiler suit and asked if he is ready to get tears painted on his face. Daniel listens to Anna’s message before telling Max that he needs to go. Max forces him to drink while Anna gives the injections on her own. She starts with Rebecca and injects the treatment into her body. Max tells Daniel about some old folklore about a shepherd who accepts his impending death.

Next, DI Kam Skinner (Mandeep Dhillon) and DI Rob Moloney (Ryan McKen) visit Jamie Harris (Tobi King Bakare) at the jail. They ask him about Daniel and Anna, but he pretends not to know them. Jamie gets tripped up while saying they’re not killers and admits Daniel was Lee’s doctor. He is shown a picture of Lee while Lee takes part in Ash’s protest. When he learns this won’t make the news, he wonders if they should be doing something that will make the news. Rebecca gives Roberts (Jay Simpson) and Dennis (John Mackay) a tour of the facility until Anna spots them and notices one is looking particularly ill. Daniel continues hanging out with Max and his friends. He is pulled up to the dance floor and told to dance for Suzana. Max tells everyone that Daniel is the doctor who helped his sister while he continues spinning around the room.

The police begin breaking up the protest causing Lee to get into an argument with one of the police officers who tells him to keep hugging trees. Ash tries to get Lee to calm down, but he keeps insulting the cop until he is arrested. Max finds Daniel splashing his face with water in the bathroom. He tells Daniel that his sister trusted him, but he is a bad man. When Daniel pretends not to know what he is talking about, Max tells him not to lie. Then, he admits he saw them in the house that night. Suzana told him she was coming into some money although she wouldn’t say any more than that. Max believes Suzana sold her kidney and convinced Daniel to perform the surgery. Daniel doesn’t say otherwise. Max blames himself while saying she knew of his debt and wanted to help. He goes on to admit he needs the money because he doesn’t owe a bank.

He asks where the money is at. Meanwhile, Anna’s patients admit they don’t feel great. Anna tries to convince Rebecca that the side effects will subside soon. Meanwhile, Kam and Rob research Lee to see what they can find. While Kam calls to get his name checked, Rob finds information about his old job online. Kam learns he has been arrested. At the station, Lee apologizes to the others for losing it like he did. Ash says they need to get their blood pumping and scare the heck out of the people in charge. Lee is told that they’re not going to charge him, but he is with a known group of dangerous activists. Lee refutes that and claims they should be grateful that people are fighting to stop the destruction of the biosphere.

Daniel gives the 50,000 pounds to Max who offers to give him a little when he learns he didn’t make anything on the arrangement. Daniel reluctantly takes the money and asks Max to forgive him. However, Max says only Suzana and God can forgive him now. When Daniel says he doesn’t believe in God, Max tells him that is bad luck. As Daniel leaves, he gets a bottle of alcohol and begins taking swigs from it. Meanwhile, Ash and Eve tell Daniel about their plan to shut down the tube and tick off the passengers. Lee doesn’t believe they should tick off the tube passengers though. He warns them that they’ll get the terrorist treatment. He agrees to help, but not to the original plan. Daniel hears a man scream about facing an environmental cataclysm.

Daniel goes into a convenience store and begins breaking bottles. The man in charge tells him not to do it again. When Daniel drops another bottle, he is attacked by the man in question. Daniel is thrown out onto the street and continues drinking. A man stops him to ask if he wants to buy cocaine or weed. Daniel tells the man to put him out of his misery. Once the drug dealer goes, a likely prostitute approaches and learns that Daniel has ironed out some of his creases. Diana asks if she can iron out some of hers. She takes Daniel into her club and dances while he drinks and watches from the table. Dennis vomits twice so Rebecca says they’re going to go. Anna says that is a good idea, but she wants to give them something for it first.

Lee tells Ash and Eve about their possible ability to turn all traffic lights red within a two-mile radius. He believes they can do it by pulling a few wires with help from their mole in CTIP. He says they can gridlock London, but they’ll have to pick up a key first. Daniel finally leaves the pub although he can’t stop thinking about Suzana who keeps saying she knows what he did. He calls Lee and tries to find out where Eve is at. We see that Anna has decided to knock out her patients and keep them in the bunker. Daniel meets with Eve, Ash, and Lee. Daniel admits he has had a rough day and just wants to talk to his daughter although Eve doesn’t want to see him. She calls him self-absorbed and doesn’t believe it when he says he has only thought about her needs.

She says he might be a superstar surgeon, but he is a crappy father. She says nothing when he asks if he is that bad. Lee tries to smooth things over, but Daniel leaves in a hurry. As Daniel waits on the street, he is kidnapped by two men and thrown into a van.

 

Temple Review

This episode of Temple was slightly uneventful, but entertaining nevertheless. While Anna is desperately clinging to her Lancaster’s cure, Daniel is struggling with Suzana’s passing. It seems everyone is going in different directions with Lee becoming a member of the environmental advocacy group. Ultimately, this is likely going to change now that Daniel was probably kidnapped by Gubby.

The episode was much different from those before it. While an episode like this is acceptable once in a while, I hope we get back to Daniel’s operations son. The episode scores a 7 out of 10. All recaps of Temple will be available here on Reel Mockery.
