At the episode begins, Daniel (Mark Strong) goes looking for Lee (Daniel Mays). He visits Lee’s apartment but nobody answers the door. Then, we see a flashback of the initial meeting between Lee and Daniel. Lee makes a statement about possession and knowledge causing Daniel to question why he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. They speak about being a surgeon and dealing with situations you’ve never encountered before. Daniel goes on to say that there is always something else you can try. After the intro, Daniel asks Jamie (Tobi King Bakare) about Lee’s whereabouts. Lee tells Jamie to tell Lee that he really needs to get in touch with him.
Daniel lets Jamie know that he is going to pick up his daughter. Jack (Sam Hazeldine) goes to Anna’s workplace and finds out that she isn’t there. Moments later, Anna (Carice van Houten) receives a call from Jack. She tells him that she is at work and he immediately calls her out on the lies. At the station, Karen (Chloe Pirrie) and Rob (Ryan McKen) speak about the cellphone and contemplate trying to get Michelle (Siena Kelly) to talk. Both have separate ideas that they would like to experiment with even though they might be against the rules. They begin communicating with Jamie using the cellphone.
During the conversation, Jamie mentions Lee and this surprises detectives. After that, Jack meets with Anna to find out the truth. He suspects that she might be with another man but she denies it. Anna meets with a friend and tells her about that conversation. She explains that it is going to be better for her to move out of the house. Daniel picks up Eve (Lily Newmark) a few moments later. They return home before Daniel gets a call from Lee who wants to know what he wants. Daniel explains that he needs more time but Lee isn’t willing to budge.
Lee is interrupted by his boss. Daniel calls Suzanna (Anamaria Marinca) and tells her that today might be the day for her operation. Meanwhile, Lee is fired from his job. He pleads with Jeremy to reconsider but that doesn’t happen. Lee gets into a fight with one of his coworkers. As a result, he smashes his hand through a glass pane. Next, Mercy King (Wunmi Mosaku) visits Sebastian (Theo Solomon) at the jail. They speak about the electronics guy who was most likely arrested for laundering money. Sebastian tells Mercy that the guy’s name is Jay Shah. He suggests that she go there with Keith (Craig Parkinson) and get the truth.
Daniel picks up Suzanna. He takes her to the underground clinic. While he shows her around the clinic, Lee gets his hand tended to. Suzanna gets scared and contemplates changing her mind. However, she realizes that she doesn’t have a choice so she tells Daniel to go through with it. Mercy finds out that Keith has obtained a handgun. He believes that they’ll need it now that they’re diving into dangerous territory. They head into the electronics shop, lock the door, and begin interrogating Jay. During this time, Rob and Karen continue speaking with Jamie using the cellphone. Daniel performs the surgery. He removes the spleen and begins working on the kidney.
Daniel gets the kidney out but something goes wrong. He calls Jamie for help but Jamie cannot hear because he is listening to music using headphones. Lee returns just in time to assist Daniel. Together, they manage to save Suzanna’s life. Then, Lee learns the truth about Daniel taking her kidney. Daniel prepares to put the kidney into Beth before receiving a call from his daughter about the award ceremony. Lee is not happy with Daniel lying about the kidney. Meanwhile, Mercy and Keith begin interrogating Clive and his partner. Eventually, Clive (Jan Bijvoet) gives them Daniel’s bogus name, Dr. Sutton-Greville.
Mercy and Keith also find out that the doctor bought a kidney and that the doctor was wearing a hat. They decide to speak with Lee again since they realize that the bald man had his hat. Anna goes to the clinic and speaks with Lee. She finds out about the kidney and that Beth is recovering. Meanwhile, Daniel speaks with Eve and Michael (Mark Bazeley) at the awards ceremony. He tells Michael that he sorted everything out with the money and will be starting a new position very soon. Daniel accepts the award and gives a speech. During that speech, Anna enters the building.
Anna wants to know about the woman who gave the kidney. Daniel tells her that Suzanna was a patient of his and she agreed to give the kidney after being offered money. Meanwhile, Lee tells Jamie about the incident at work. Lee is confident that his employer will not change their mind so he is out of a job now. He is worried that they’re going to find the clinic sooner or later. He isn’t sure how long they have until someone finds out. Jamie sends a goodnight text to Michelle later that night. Daniel returns to Suzanna and tells her that she is going to be fine. Then, he takes the award and throws it into the garbage.
Temple Review
Temple has mostly been great from start to finish. It had a stinker episode or maybe two but most were very entertaining. I am glad that Daniel didn’t kill Suzanna since that would have been horrible. However, I am still not sure if he got permission to take the kidney. I don’t think he did though. Mercy and the authorities are beginning to close in on Daniel and the gang. What is going to happen when they’re discovered?
Will they be able to evade justice? The next episode is the last of the season so things should be intense and action-packed. I can’t wait to find out how the season is going to end. This episode was fairly good. It scores a 7.5 out of 10. Future and previous recaps of Temple can be found on Reel Mockery. Be sure to check them out before you go!
