Game of Thrones actress, Sophie Turner, will be at the helm of the upcoming series, the first for ITV’s new streaming service, ITVX. Turner portrays the legendary jewel thief, Joan Hannington, according to an ITV press release.
With an acting career as extensive as some Hollywood veterans, the 26-year-old English actress will fill the role beautifully.
Turner is no stranger to major roles. At the early age of 15, she scored what would be known as her biggest role as Sansa Stark in the long-running TV series, Games of Thrones.
Turner went on to star in the eight-part true crime mini-series, The Staircase. She played Michael Peterson’s daughter, Margaret Ratliff. Turner performed alongside Colin Firth (Michael Peterson), David Rudolf (Michael Stuhlbarg), Toni Collette (Kathleen), Odessa Young (Martha Ratliff), and Patrick Schwarzenegger (Todd Peterson).

Joan will be directed by Him & Her producer, Richard Laxton.
Turner will once again take on a leading role in ITVX’s Joan “The Godmother.” The show, set in London in the early 1980s, follows Joan’s journey as she marries professional thief, Bosie Hannington. The pair attempt to become Britain’s most notable diamond thieves. Millions of pounds passed through their hands as they worked their way to the top of London’s criminal underworld.
Tragedy strikes, turning Joan’s world upside down.

Sophie Turner Joins Staircase Case (Is Sophie Turner In The Staircase?)
Tuner starred as Margaret Ratliff in HBO’s miniseries. The Staircase Murders. Margaret, the daughter of Michael Ratliff is a man facing murder charges for the death of his wife, Kathleen Ratliff.
The Staircase miniseries is based on the real crime story of Michael and Kathleen Peterson. Michael is a famous novelist who claims his wife, Kathleen, accidentally fell down a staircase leading to her demise. The circumstances surrounding the death were not only brutal and dramatic, but they were murky, at the best.
Foul play was suspected and this would lead to the investigation and trial that took the world by storm.
Margaret’s role in this tale is unique, as she and her sister came from different parents. Their mother, however, died years earlier in a similar incident, at the bottom of a staircase. Their father, a United States Air Force official, lost his life years earlier while on a mission.
A romantic involvement between Margaret and Martha’s mother and Michael Peterson was suggested. The most baffling thing about the story is the two young girls would be raised alongside Michael’s biological children.
There are now two different versions of the miniseries available for streaming on Netflix.
Sophie Turner’s Joan’s Brother Roast
Roasting has become an increasingly popular way of conveying admiration and respect amongst the biggest players in show business, and Sophie has already let loose a bit of her inner comedian with her X-Men role.
When the opportunity to roast her hubby was presented, Turner jumped on it. To say she didn’t get some laughs would be like saying her involvement in Game of Thrones was insignificant. Neither of these was the case.
Turner poked fun at her husband for vowing a pledge of purity, to the point where he wore a ring. All the Jonas brothers, in fact, were proud to show off their rings as a symbol of abstinence.
Where Will Joan Premiere?
All that’s known for sure is that Joan will air sometime in spring 2023 on the new streaming platform ITVX.
