Save Me Series 1 Episode 2 Recap

goz save me gillie

As the episode begins, Nelly (Lennie James) receives a call from Jody. He is eventually saved and doctored by a stranger. His savior is a cross dresser. Melon’s (Stephen Graham) apartment is searched. He is released. When he returns home, he opens his computer screen and removes a laptop. Bernie (Alice May Feetham) and Melon pack their belongings. We see that Claire (Suranne Jones) is a complete mess. BJ (Phil Dunster) is told that they need to do something about Dominic (Shaquille Ali-Yebuah). Nelly imagines that Jody grabs his hand. When he gets up, he looks at the picture of Dylan (Nicholas Croucher) and Jody. Tammy (Jason Flemyng) encourages him to have a shower. Tam tells Nelly about Melon getting picked up. Tam explains that Melon hasn’t been seen since. Nelly finally gets a shower.
Once Nelly leaves, he speaks with Gillie. They speak about Melon and the cops. Nelly learns that O’Halloran brought in Melon too. Nelly explains that he may need some help finding his daughter. Nelly’s ex throws his clothing out of the window. Melon gets on the laptop. He begins browsing semi-pornographic stuff featuring young girls. His wife interrupts. Dylan records a video for Jody. Soon, he jumps into a vehicle with Claire. Nelly rides the bus. Claire gives a press conference with the police. Stace (Susan Lynch) listens as the police reveal that Jody got into a silver Ford Focus, which they believe was stolen from Norwood a day earlier. She calls Nelly and they chat briefly. Mr. McGory gives a statement on the family’s behalf. A reward is put up for Jody’s return.

Nelly makes it to the conference, but he is too late. Dylan films as Nelly is escorted outside. Barry (Barry Ward) belittles Nelly for not being a good father. Nelly explains that Jody has been calling him. Barry doesn’t believe it. Claire does. Nelly tells O’Halloran (Nadine Marshall) about the calls. O’Halloran asks him why Mark Betts jumped up and down on him like that. Nelly asks about Melon. He doesn’t get an answer. He asks her about the article in the newspaper. He wonders whether Melon is on their list. Nelly is allowed to watch Jody’s video. On the bus, he continues looking at Jody’s picture. He also contemplates Melon’s involvement. Barry gets in contact with Dominic. He gives him instructions for doing his job. The police agree to investigate Barry again. They’re eager to know where the reward money came from.

Nelly tries to speak with his ex. She doesn’t want to let him in. Nelly admits he wants her car, so he can search for Jody. He eventually gets a car and goes on the hunt. He visits Jody’s memorial. He confronts Dylan and asks for his help. He tells Dylan about the time he almost met Jody. Claire never introduced the two. Nelly asks Dylan if he helped Jody film her final video. He promises not to tell the police. Dylan admits he helped. Dylan explains that Jody said something about saltfish dumps. Nelly insists he is behind and needs to catch up to find Jody. BJ scolds his father for his behavior on television. Dylan gives Nelly everything that was written to Jody. Nelly becomes more convinced that it was someone who knew him. Dylan finally admits that his dad stays with his girlfriend on some nights.

Nelly asks Dylan how Jody will know it is really him if he calls her. When Nelly leaves, he passes by Claire’s and finds BJ on the phone. Nelly knocks him out and disappears. He returns to Stace. They chat about playing hide and seek way back when. In the morning, Claire makes breakfast for BJ. She asks about the 50 grand. BJ refuses to tell her where his dad got the money. Nelly tries to call Jody. He leaves a message. Gillie tracks down Bernie’s sister, Gerry (Toni Peach). She refuses to say much. Nelly and Stace try to remember a past event with Melon. Goz follows Gerry. He calls Nelly and tells him where Bernie and Melon are staying. Nelly grabs a knife and prepares to leave.

Stace tries to talk him out of doing something stupid. Gerry tells Melon and Bernie about Goz. Melon and Bernie prepare to leave. Melon ignores a call from Nelly. He gets a text telling him to put the kettle on. Melon opens the curtain to find Nelly standing outside. He tells Bernie that Melon is going to have to prove that he is innocent.

Save Me Review

This episode of Save Me was very good. Things have picked up quickly. Nelly has gotten a good start on the investigation. It is becoming clear that Melon is up to something no good. What that might be remains to be seen. I doubt he is responsible for Jody’s disappearance, but he is definitely into some weird stuff. I can’t wait to watch the remaining episodes. This one scores a solid 8.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Save Me now!
