Erotic Cabaret – Refusing to give Selby Florian (Jack Farthing) Costello’s address, Lenny (Adrian Edmondson) and Gloria (Ronke Adekoluejo) agree to go with him. Selby pays Memphis (Miguela Charlery) to leave him be. Lenny warns them of his needing to make frequent stops to urinate. Gloria reminds him of her pregnancy.
Costello asks Simon (Karl Pilkington) if he would consider rehiring her. When he refuses, she pleads with him to let her have the “sh*tty” job back. He orders her to get in the van.
Lenny suggests Selby is great fun on Friday night but useless when Iris needs her lunch made. Gloria accuses him of stealing Costello’s money to keep her from leaving him. Selby blames his desperate actions on his illness before reminding her of his stint in rehab. Lenny calls for a bathroom break. Selby hands him a water bottle. Gloria says he has never taken responsibility for anything. Lenny complains the bottle opening is too small.
Costello visits their client, Gary Wilson (James Ashton) to collect 7,455 pounds. Gary slams the door in their face. Simon demands she try again before stepping up to bang on the door. Costello stars in disbelief while Gary and Kara Wilson (James Ashton) physically assault Simon.

Simon fires Costello for not being his wingman.
Selby asks the hotel receptionist, Ben (Joshua Parris) if they rent rooms by the hour. Ben quotes a nightly room at 70 pounds. Lenny admits to messing his pants. While Lenny takes a shower, Gloria feels her baby move for the first time. After feeling the movement, Selby suggests she has flatulence. She admits to being shocked that she actually cares. He asks if she believes he is a good dad. She describes him as “intolerable” that always tries to be a good dad.
Costello asks Grey (Siobhan Redmond) if she would pick Iris up from school and give her lunch. Handing her an imitation handbag, Grey asks how much would she pay for it. Costello says nothing. After assuring her no one would know the difference, Grey suggests they sell them to her famous friends. Costello admits to losing the book deal. Grey says when her daughter left to find fame, she ended up raising her son, Tennessee (Archie McCormick). She suggests some people don’t have what it takes to be a good parent. Costello makes arrangements for Iris to stay the night before going home to drink alone.
Gloria questions what condition Costello will be in when they arrive. Selby says it’s difficult to say. She claims to have never met anyone more self-centered than Costello. He suggests her self-centeredness is why she is alone in the world when he receives an unknown call alert. Lenny pretends to be dead until Selby pulls off to the side of the road. Selby listens to a voicemail from a distraught Costello asking him to take care of Iris for her. She breaks down crying while writing her own ending. Iris sits on the beach alone.
Gloria, Selby, and Lenny arrive at Sunset Park in Somerset. Ferryman (Trevor Fox) tells them that Costello lives at 107 Craybridge. Selby breaks down the door to discover she has taken some pills. They escort her to the toilet before making her vomit. Lenny holds her hand. She suggests it’s time for her to accept who she is meant to be. He says someone told him to “find what you love and let it kill you.” She assures Iris that she is everything to her.
Selby tells Costello that he won’t be returning to rehab. She denies trying to commit suicide. He reminds her of the suicide note and pills she ingested. He admits to needing her. When he suggests staying in Somerset for a while, she questions if things would be different this go-round. The episode ends.
Rain Dogs Finale Review
Gloria and Lenny agree to show Selby where Costello and Iris are staying in Somerset. Lenny’s bladder and bowel incontinence requires Selby to make frequent stops.
After the publishing house cancels Costello’s book deal, she starts drinking heavily. Iris opens up about her fears when Costello gets intoxicated. Trying to be normal, Costello convinces Simon to rehire her. When they confront Gary Wilson about his outstanding debt of 7,455 pounds. Simon is brutally assaulted. Costello’s refusal to intervene costs her job. She makes plans for Iris to stay with Grey until Selby picks her up. Selby, Lenny, and Iris find her unconscious after ingesting wine and pills. Selby forces her to vomit.
Selby later suggests he stay with her at Sunset Park. She questions if things would be different this time around.
Disappointing to say the least. Selby and Costello’s relationship is a revolving door of mental health crises. A series two would most likely fail to provide viewers with what they so eagerly wanted to see in the first series. Sadly, it seems the finale set the stage for yet another failed attempt at being normal friends and co-parents. The finale deserves a 5.8. Get more Rain Dogs recaps here.
